"It's my time!" Sharp turns in the life of Nargiz Zakirova. The former lead singer of the legendary group “Yalla” died in Tashkent (video) Family and personal life

TASS/Salynskaya Anna

She could have gone with the flow since childhood, but instead she resisted it with all her might. Nargiz was born in Tashkent into a musical family: her grandfather was an opera singer, her uncle Farrukh Zakirov was the leader of the popular ensemble “Yalla,” her mother sang on the stage, and her father was a drummer in the musical group of the girl’s other uncle, Batyr Zakirov.

When 15-year-old Nargiz was selected to participate in the Jurmala-86 festival, the girl learned for the first time what human envy is. She was openly told that her family was protecting her and that she did not deserve to go on stage. But Nargiz did not give up: in Jurmala she won the audience award with the song “Remember Me” to the verses of Ilya Reznik.

Love and emigration

After school, the young singer entered the vocal department at a circus school - but her performances were far from what the teachers taught.

She tries to sing rock, goes on stage in short shorts - and all this against the backdrop of growing national self-awareness, when more and more families in Uzbekistan returned to traditional values and reverence for religion.

It was in those years that they began to call her the “Uzbek Madonna” - Nargiz dyed her hair blonde, and her performances were accompanied by explicit dancing.

The idea of emigration had been discussed in their family since the late 80s. Nargiz’s personal life was also in full swing at this time.

Ruslan Sharipov was the leader of the rock group “Bayt”, wore long hair and leather pants, and Nargiz reached out to him with all her rebellious nature. He reciprocated: a month after they met, she received a marriage proposal, and soon after the wedding she became pregnant.

The birth of their daughter Sabina in 1990 took Ruslan and her lives in different directions: while Nargiz was caring for the child, he continued to give concerts and reciprocate the love of fans.

She could not forgive the betrayal - the couple divorced. In one of her last interviews, Nargiz admitted that Ruslan now has problems with alcohol - but she is sure that he will pull through.

Her second husband was Ernur Kanaibekov. As soon as she married him, Nargiz and her family emigrated to the United States - while she was six months pregnant. The husband was supposed to join them later.

In the States, a completely different life awaited the famous Uzbek singer.

Video rental, tattoo parlor and restaurants

America immediately charmed Nargiz with its freedom and limitless possibilities. This was what she missed so much in her native Uzbekistan. But along with this, the singer also faced serious difficulties.

In the first year after the move, her father could not find a job for a long time, constantly quarreled with her mother, and developed diabetes mellitus due to stress. As soon as she gave birth to her son Auel, Nargiz went in search of work - she simply walked from one place to another, asking if there were any vacancies.

Her English was weak, and the only thing she was entrusted with was a place in a Russian video rental store. She was happy about this too.

Life gradually returned to normal. Nargiz worked and was looking forward to Yernur’s arrival. But when her husband arrived, she did not recognize him.

“Either while he was living alone in his homeland, he fell in love, or there was some other reason, but a stranger arrived. I was really looking forward to him - my beloved man, support, support, but a cold stranger appeared on the threshold. “Show me your son,” he said instead of greeting,” she recalled.

Yernur became a good father for Auel, but a bad husband for his mother. Almost immediately after their divorce, the man died in a car accident. But before that, he introduced Nargiz to her third - and greatest - love.

Nargiz and her son Auel 2017 Working first in a video store, then in a tattoo parlor, Nargiz was very homesick for the stage. One evening Yernur called her and said that he was in a Russian restaurant, where some Italian was singing amazingly - they say, you should hear this.

Arriving at the place, Nargiz was truly amazed by the singer’s talent. And then she agreed to go on stage herself - and got her first job as a singer in America.

They soon married the Italian Philip Balzano. Her third marriage turned out to be much longer and happier than the previous ones.

Italian passions

Marrying a Sicilian and living with him for 20 years is quite in Nargiz’s character. They had similar temperaments and hobbies, they could fight furiously and then passionately make peace, but in this marriage the main thing was love.

Disagreements began when Nargiz’s son from Ernur, Auel, grew up. Quarrels began to flare up between him and Philip more and more often; for the time being, she played the role of a lightning rod, but then, like any mother, she took the side of the child.

“Philip did not want to accept Auel in any way, but at the same time he wanted to keep me. Situations reached the point of madness, we even had to call the police. His hatred for my son alienated me more and more,” said Nargiz.

It was not possible to disperse peacefully: Philip made huge financial claims against Nargiz (who by that time had successfully performed on the Russian stage), and the court took up the matter. The litigation lasted for several months, until Balzano finally backed down: Nargiz called and offered to settle the differences amicably.

Now the singer with a clear conscience calls herself a free woman: she raised children, became a successful wife and has the right to live the life she has always dreamed of. And she dreamed of only one thing - to sing.

Voice

She was already 42 years old when she decided to radically change the well-fed and quiet life of a restaurant singer. In the USA, Nargiz went to the casting of the musical project X-factor: she went through several tours and waited for a call from the producers. At the same time, I decided to try my luck in the Russian “Voice”.

Fortunately for the domestic stage, Nargiz never received a call from American producers. But in Moscow they noticed her and invited her to blind auditions. Well, then - the real American dream on Russian soil.

All the project mentors turned to Nargiz. She chose Leonid Agutin - and under his leadership she reached the finals.

“I didn’t win, I won,” she said after Sergei Volchkov took first place in the project.

And this is true: Nargiz’s career is now on an incredible rise. She tours extensively and successfully, recorded a solo album under the guidance of producer Max Fadeev and sang a duet with him.

“This is my time!” says the singer about her life.

From an interview with Farrukh Zakirov: ... I love close Tashkent. Like all eastern people, I honor the memory of my parents, who are buried on Uzbek soil. My dad is the People's Artist of Uzbekistan Karim Zakirov, the only one of the first national opera singers. Yalla is a vocal and instrumental ensemble led by Farukh Zakirov, created in Tashkent in 1970.

Known for the songs "Uchkuduk - Three Wells" (F. Zakirov - Yu. Entin), "This is Love" (A. Rybnikov - R. Tagore), "Nasreddin's Song" (Folk Music - S. Tilla), "Yalla" ( F. Zakirov - A. Pulat), “Shakhrisabz”, “Chaikhana” and many others.

Creative path

1970-1978
VIA "Yalla" was formed in 1970 from an amateur ensemble at the Tashkent Theater Institute. The first artistic director was German Rozhkov, who began supervising the ensemble as the director of the educational theater at the institute. The name of the group, although similar to the name of one of the styles of Uzbek folk music, appeared at one of the rehearsals from the words of the chorus of the song “Kyz Bola” - “Naughty Girl”. The arrangement of this Uzbek folk song was the first success of the ensemble; in January 1971, VIA “Yalla” successfully performed with it and Mark Fradkin’s song “On That Highway” at the regional qualifying round of the all-Union competition “Hello, we are looking for talents!” in Sverdlovsk and made it to the finals of the competition in Moscow, where, having performed the Uzbek folk song “Ramazan” and the Russian folk song “White mists are floating,” the soloist was Ravshan Zakirov (the younger brother of Batyr Zakirov, one of the ideological inspirers of the young group, and Farukh Zakirov, whose name In recent years, in fact, VIA “Yalla” is associated) the members of the ensemble became diploma winners of this prestigious competition for beginning performers, the permanent presenter of which was Alexander Maslyakov. The songs “Kyz Bola” and “Yallamaerm” performed by the ensemble were recorded at the All-Union Record Company “Melodiya”.

One of the foundations of the success of “Yalla” was: the use, along with electric guitars and an electric organ, of Uzbek folk instruments - rubab, doira, etc., oriental song motifs in modern (70s) processing. The ensemble's repertoire consisted mainly of songs in the Uzbek language; they were also performed in Russian and English.

The compositions of the ensemble “Yalla”, created based on Uzbek folk songs, became famous. The group and its leader Farukh Zakirov developed their own approach to the intonation and rhythmic beginning of Uzbek folklore and created such famous songs as “Majnuntol” (“Weeping Willow”), “Boychechak” (“Snowdrop”), “Yallama-Yorim” and others. During this period, musicians often turn to the work of the poet Turab Tul and write songs based on his poems.

According to Farukh Zakirov, who has been participating in the ensemble since 1972, the first musical director of “Yalla”, Evgeniy Shiryaev, made a great contribution to the creation of the repertoire and the very image of the group. For several years, the ensemble successfully performed in the Tashkent music hall and toured the Soviet Union, in 1973 it took part in the X World Festival of Students and Youth in Berlin, GDR, and recorded fifteen songs in German at the Amiga company VIA Yalla , half of which, according to F. Zakirov, made it into the top ten of the national hit parade of the GDR. In the USSR, their songs were also periodically recorded by the Melodiya company, both on vinyl records and on flexible inserts of the Krugozor magazine. In addition to folk songs and songs of modern authors, songs of their own composition based on poems by the great poets of the East - Alisher Navoi, Omar Khayyam - began to be added to the repertoire. But by the end of the 1970s, a creative decline occurred in the team.

Since 1979

Album VIA Yalla - Three wells. In 1979, new musicians joined the ensemble, who continue to play in it to this day, with the exception of musical director and bass guitarist Rustam Ilyasov, who, after 15 years of creative activity in Yalla, in 1994 parted with the band and moved to permanent residence in the USA. From the old composition, from 1972, only Farukh Zakirov remained - the artistic director of VIA, singer and composer. In 1980, the ensemble expected new creative success - the song “Uchkuduk” - “Three Wells”, composed by F. Zakirov to the verses of Yu. Entin, became a super hit in the USSR (and is still the “calling card” of the ensemble). In 1981, 1982, 1984, 1985 and 1988, the State Honored Ensemble of the Uzbek SSR “Yalla” was a diploma winner (finalist) of the annual television festivals “Song of the Year” held in the Soviet Union. In 1982, the first album (giant disc) of the group, “Three Wells,” was released.

Over the years, the songs performed by the ensemble have become popular: “The Last Poem”, “Shakhrisabz”, “Rope Walker”, “Nasreddin’s Song”, “The Face of My Beloved”, “The Road Called Me”, “Teahouse”, “Golden Domes of Samarkand”. Several albums were recorded and colorful theatrical performances were shown: “Let’s create a holiday, friends,” “The face of my beloved” and “A teahouse for all times.”

In 2000, Farukh Zakirov was appointed to the post of Minister of Culture of Uzbekistan, but despite this, he remains in “Yalla”, and the ensemble continues concert activities and studio recordings. On September 30, 2002, a gala anniversary concert of the ensemble was held at the Rossiya State Central Concert Hall in Moscow. In the same 2002, members of the first ensemble formed the group “Retro Yalla” with a repertoire from the early 70s. She also successfully performed in various concerts and shows, including the anniversary concert “Yalli”. As Aliaskar Fatkhullin said in an interview, “Retro Yalla” plans to record a disc with the ensemble’s first songs. In 2005, VIA “Yalla” celebrated its 35th anniversary with a series of gala concerts. On New Year's Eve 2007, the ensemble "Yalla", together with other stars of the 70-80s, took part in the concert show "Legends of Retro FM", broadcast on Channel One of the Republic of Tatarstan.

Interesting Facts
The song “Uchkuduk” - “Three Wells” was written on tour in the city and about the city of Uchkuduk. The poet Yu. Entin, who was the head of the VIA, wrote poetry, and Farukh Zakirov wrote music in 40 minutes. On the same day the song was performed at a concert. At that time, Uchkuduk was a closed city and was not included on the maps of the USSR. According to Y. Entin and F. Zakirov, the city appeared on the maps of the country only thanks to their song, which became the main hit “Yalli”, but which at one time the KGB of Uzbekistan forbade to perform and record.

Farukh Zakirov believes that Pesnyary is more professional than Lennon and McCartney. In one of his interviews, he said about “Pesnyary”: “They have a lot in common with the Beatles, and in terms of professional performing skills, I think they are superior to the British...”
When performing concerts abroad, “Yalla” performs at least one song in the language of the country in which they are touring, this was the case in Vietnam, Turkey, Israel, Switzerland, Azerbaijan, Ceylon, and African countries.

From an interview with Farrukh Zakirov:

I grew up in the old city, in a mahalla (a microdistrict with its own administrative center - author's note), where everyone lives in community and communication, sharing joys and sorrows. Everything good I received was in my father's house. We had a gorgeous garden - more than twenty-eight acres. All the fruits that exist in Uzbekistan grew there. Interesting people from the artistic circle, scientists, and statesmen gathered at our house.

May Allah forgive me for such careless words, mom is sacred, but we remember dad with special trepidation. He was a man of amazing kindness. I try to be like him in everything, to repeat his actions. An extraordinary atmosphere reigned in our family; we were friendly and united. “Children, when we leave, keep this,” our mother begged. I remember the times spent in my father’s house as the most carefree time spent behind the back of my good dad. Everything was fine until grief burst into the house - Batyr died. Unable to withstand these tests, our dad passed away. He had a massive heart attack. It was as if the house had been jinxed... The famous garden where the Zakirovs grew up was demolished. Now this place is occupied by a new maternity hospital, which I find symbolic.

What was your mother like?

She performed male functions, she was strict - a kind of artistic council. I kept everything under control, because it’s not so easy to raise six children. Unfortunately, my mother’s artistic career did not work out, partly due to her character. She was very truthful, did not know how to be hypocritical, and said everything she thought to her face. Not everyone liked it.

Surely it was not easy for you to decide on your choice of profession. You had such reference points - dad, brother...

My brother didn’t want to accept me into his orchestra at all, he believed that he would be condemned: they say, he’s dragging down his untalented brother. Dad dreamed that I would choose a “normal” profession, for example, to become a surgeon. I went to different clubs: photography, ballet, boxing, cutting and sewing courses. After eighth grade, I accidentally came to school. The profession itself chose me. He quickly mastered musical notation. I entered the faculty of choral conducting - a fabulous profession. It always seemed to me that the conductor is a magician who, with one wave of his wand, performs a miracle.

The first time I got married very late. The fact is that in our family everything was somehow not Uzbek: either the son-in-law was not Uzbek, or the wife was not Uzbek, or worse, she was several years older than her brother. Can you imagine the shock of your family and friends, the tears in your parents’ eyes?

I was the middle one in the family, more or less aware of the mistakes of my older brothers. I immediately prepared myself for the fact that my marriage would be according to all Uzbek canons. That’s why I didn’t get married for a long time, I kept looking for an ideal. And one day a peculiar woman came to our group “Yalla”. I have always believed that a woman in an ensemble is a topic of contention. After all, one of the team members will definitely create an alliance with this woman, and an alliance within an alliance is antagonism that ends in conflict.

And so my friend begins an affair with her. I watch them from the outside, empathize - and involuntarily fall in love! It so happens that my friend’s relatives do not allow him to marry - and I will marry her. Although I intuitively understand that nothing is working out for us. I’m trying to reassure myself that when everything is legalized and the child is born, everything will work out. A child appears in the family, but this does not change anything. It’s not good to talk about the past situation, but the fact is a fact - I could not come to terms with its, to put it mildly, difficult character. From my first marriage I have a son, he is twenty-three years old. Now he is studying in America.

But in my second marriage I was lucky. Anya is an amazingly kind person. My wife is twenty years younger than me. Russian. When we got married, she had a one and a half year old child in her arms. I am his dad, and he is my youngest son. Misha is now studying in England, where his name is Michael.

Was meeting your second wife also something like a flash of fire?

I wouldn't say that. I didn't experience shock. Something just skipped a beat in my heart. We met by chance, at the Palace of Friendship of Peoples. She came after school to work at Uzbekkontsert, where I also worked. The girl made a pleasant impression: “Wow!” - I thought to myself. She was only nineteen and wore a long braid - an unforgettable romantic image. My wife calls me by my first and patronymic name, “you” - Farukh Karimovich. We speak Russian at home.

Zakirov Faruh Zakirov Career: Musician
Birth: Uzbekistan
Uch Kuduk, Star of the East, Shakhrisabz Hits of Tashkent stars of past years. Two years ago, the Uzbek ensemble Yalla celebrated thirty years of existence of its VIA. But the permanent leader of Yalla, Farukh Zakirov, is confident that they will still surprise the audience with new hits!

Is it possible to draw something brighter for Yall than Uch Kuduk?

Why not? That was in 1980, when we, in company with the famous Russian poet Yuri Entin, went on our next tour of Uzbekistan. We drove through the Kyzylkum desert, and Yuri, with his poetic gaze, somehow saw in a different way that same industrial city located in the middle of the desert. Already an hour later, walking along Uch Kuduk, Entin told me: There is a song, let’s play the music. And in almost forty minutes I wrote the music with a guitar. And in the evening at the concert we sang this song. So a similar song may appear again. It's important to find inspiration.

Have your songs ever been banned by Soviet censorship?

The same Uch Kuduk was not released for a long time. The only one of the secretaries of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Uzbekistan was present at the concert. He heard the song and said in shock: A song about Uch Kuduk? No one has ever dedicated a verse to this city, but here is a whole song! This remark was perceived by his subordinates as a prohibition. The song sat on the shelf for a whole year. But there were people who, at their own fear and risk, played Uch Kuduk on Central Television. This is how a new hit was born. Some time later I spoke with that official, he explained that he did not want to cause us any inconvenience. It turns out that he easily expressed his ecstasy with that phrase.

At concerts, everyone is used to seeing you in oriental costume. But, they say, in Tashkent you dress like a European?

I’ll tell you openly, performing in an oriental costume in front of your own people is like an oil of butter. My compatriots are used to seeing me in a formal suit and tie.

You have an endless supply of songs in Russian. I wonder what language you are thinking in?

My mistress, with whom I have lived for eighteen years, is Russian. And before I thought only in Russian. But at the moment it’s already seventy percent in Uzbek. By the way, my wife speaks excellent Turkish, but her Uzbek language is not very good.

Evil tongues are spreading gossip that Yalla is a frequent guest at weddings in Uzbekistan these days. Like, it’s not the same popularity

Everything is the opposite! In Uzbekistan, singing at weddings is a great honor. A wedding is the most important event in the life of every person. People are saving up capital to celebrate the wedding of their children, saving money for famous artists. For a musician, this is a special reference point: if you are in demand, you are often invited, which means you are popular.

Is there such a thing as Uzbek show business in your homeland?

We are full of interesting young people. That's why show business exists. And it’s very well developed.

Do you listen to Russian artists?

Yes, we are following them very closely. And young people, as I noticed, have recently been trying very hard to imitate Russian performers. This doesn’t upset me much, because we ourselves have plenty of interesting things.

Why do you live in Uzbekistan and not in Russia? Many Soviet-era stars have been singing successfully in Moscow for a long time.

There is one simple explanation: I love close Tashkent. Like all eastern people, I honor the memory of my parents, who are buried on Uzbek soil. My dad is the People's Artist of Uzbekistan Karim Zakirov, the only one of the first national opera singers. And Shokhista Saidova’s mother, a famous singer in the republic, worked at the Uzbek Musical Drama Theater.

Have your children followed in your footsteps in the profession?

My dad also expressed hesitation: can there be so many musicians in one family? You must either be a very bright personality, or not engage in art at all - these are his words. Both of my adult sons are studying abroad, and not at all in music. Although the smaller one, it seems, began to look in her direction, well, we’ll see. But Nargiz’s niece, the daughter of Louise’s sister, is already an accomplished singer, which, in my opinion, was confirmed by her participation in our current concert.
