We can and must please the heroes

For several years now, a youth charity foundation “V.N.U.K” has existed in Moscow. The project activists themselves decipher the acronym as “Veterans need care and company” - and are ready to give the remaining veterans, those who do not have grandchildren, both. On the eve of May 9, their main task is to do a general cleaning in the apartments of those old people who can no longer cope with washing windows or shaking out carpets. And along the way, of course, talk - many veterans willingly share their memories of difficult times, and volunteers willingly listen to them. Most of the enthusiasts are very young: schoolchildren and students.

If you want something more pathetic than simple wet cleaning, then you can take part in the patriotic event “Thank you for the Victory,” which will take place on May 6–7. As part of this project, citizens can write any personal warm words of gratitude to veterans on postcards - and Moscow volunteers will definitely pass them on to the recipients. Special mailboxes will be installed in Moscow's largest parks, and all collected postcards will be sent to veterans' councils by May 9.

In addition, a photo album - perhaps already decorated with several cards from the war years - or something more practical would be an excellent gift for a veteran. According to experienced volunteers, an LED lamp (a great way to save on electricity in the coming months), a blanket or a warm blanket, treats like chocolate and fruit, or just a basket of groceries can please the elderly - what seems boring and unromantic to young people will be greeted with a bang old people.

Veterans with whom you personally know can be invited to the cinema - especially since it will not cost anything. More than 40 films dedicated to the Great Patriotic War can be seen at free charity film screenings from May 6 to May 9 in cinemas and parks. Such famous films as “The Ballad of a Soldier”, “The Fate of a Man”, “Twenty Days Without War”, “And the Dawns Here Are Quiet...”, “Belorussky Station”, “Soldiers”, “Mashenka” and other films will be shown. However, if going to the cinema were not free, many Muscovites would be happy to please the heroes. There is not even a doubt about it.

The option is no worse - going to the theater or to a concert, especially since on the eve of an important holiday several youth volunteer associations planned performances dedicated to the war, also for free. For example, at the Stimul cultural center (Sibirsky proezd, 2, p. 5) on May 4 at 20.00 there will be a concert of military songs “Let us bow to those great years,” organized by an amateur vocal studio. And near the Volzhskaya metro station (Shkuleva St., 15/18) on May 6 at 19.00, the actors of the amateur theater "Tener" invite everyone to the musical production "And the Dawns Here Are Quiet", in which old pre-war songs will be performed by young actors, - also free.

Several special holiday concerts will be organized separately for veterans:

May 5 - at the territorial social service centers "Yasenevo" and "Zyuzino", beginning at 10.00;

Listen to the Alexandrov Ensemble

The main holiday celebrations in the city will, of course, take place on May 9th. But you shouldn’t sit at home waiting for fireworks and parades either. On April 28, the Moscow Spring acapella festival began in the city: a celebration of spring, music and good mood. Light white chalets decorated with fresh flowers appeared on the streets and squares of Moscow. The aroma from them is unearthly: you can’t even believe that you are in the center of a metropolis. Sometimes it is mixed with the smell of ice cream or barbecue: there is food at the festival for every taste. But the main character of this spring is music. They play everywhere and in all modes. Jazz is heard on Theater Square, blues is heard a little closer to the metro... (By the way, the points with the artists are placed very competently: far enough so that the songs do not merge, and close enough so that you can quickly move between venues). In total, 150 performers will perform for Muscovites, which will total 1,200 hours of live music.

On Pushkin Square As part of the festival, the famous director and choreographer Yegor Druzhinin will stage the musical “Girl without an Address” based on the Soviet romantic film. The last session will take place May 5 at 16.00 and 18.00. In addition, thematic excursions will be held as part of the festival. Educational walks dedicated to composers, musical theaters and capital patrons of the arts who patronized the city’s musical life are starting in Stoleshnikov Lane, house 6–8. For example, May 6 at 13.00 they will talk about the ceremonial and non-ceremonial Tverskaya, and May 7 at 13.00 will hold a musical tour of Moscow. Excursions about literature and history will start at Novy Arbat, 13. The final gala concert of the festival will take place on May 8.

Special holiday concerts dedicated to Victory Day will begin May 8. At the entrance square of Victory Park, on Poklonnaya Hill, on this day at 17.00 The Kremlin Riding School will host a fashion show - the “Traditions of Russia” show. Cavalrymen will march across the square in orderly steps, and there will be a parade with the flags of the hero cities. In addition, riders will perform tricks on horses. The concert will begin on the main stage at the same time.

May 9 at 13.00 in Victory Park A traditional concert of the Mariinsky Theater Symphony Orchestra conducted by Valery Gergiev will take place. It will mark the end of the Easter festival, with which the maestro traveled all over Russia and visited Syria. Those who were unable to get to Red Square can start their morning there, on Poklonnaya Hill: at 10.00 The Victory Parade will be broadcast on large television screens.

For the first time on Poklonnaya Hill The event “Light of Memory” will take place. A 10-meter structure will appear on the entrance square: an image of fire and a flower, war and the joy of Victory. The torch flower will change color from red to white to gold.

In general, concerts will be held in every park in the capital. On the square in front of the main entrance of VDNH The Academic Song and Dance Ensemble named after Alexandrov will perform. The ensemble, revived after a terrible tragedy in December 2016, has prepared a special repertoire. On May 9, an ensemble of military drummers will perform, and the choir will perform “Dark-skinned Girl,” “Oh, Roads...”, “It’s Time to Hit the Road,” and “On a Sunny Meadow.” The arch of the main entrance itself will turn into one huge screen on which footage of the pre- and post-war years of VDNH history will be broadcast.

Gorky Park these days will be filled with music. It's better to come at 13.00, and immediately - to the dance: everyone will be taught “Soviet retro”. The lesson will last two hours. If you're not in the mood for dancing, try the French chanson performed by Philippe Darès: close your eyes and imagine the narrow streets of Paris in the setting sun... Every half hour from 16.30 they will tell true stories about the war, and at 21.00 The film screening of “Once upon a time there was a girl” will begin - a film about the life of besieged Leningrad.

Theater Square- traditional meeting place for veterans - May 9 will live up to its name and become a platform on which scenes from plays about the war will be performed. Literary readings from young actors and graduates of theater universities will also be held on Triumfalnaya Square. The most active ones will be able to take part in collective readings of poems dedicated to the war.

May 8 and 9 Pushkinskaya Square will turn into an open-air cinema. A cinema will be installed at the monument to the poet: Muscovites will see musical performances and films about the war. And at the end of the holiday there will be a concert with military songs.

At the Cathedral of Christ the Savior on Victory Day Mosconcert artists will perform. Naturally, war songs will be performed. From 19.00 to 20.00 The orchestra will perform under the direction of the famous conductor Pavel Ovsyannikov. At one time he led the Presidential Orchestra and collaborated with Alexandra Pakhmutova and Lyubov Kazarnovskaya.

On May 6, a parade of the cadet movement will be held on Poklonnaya Hill, in which more than 2.5 thousand students from cadet classes in Moscow schools will take part. It will begin exactly at noon, and the event will end with the launching of doves and the laying of flowers at the Fire of Memory and Glory. The parade of the cadet movement, like all other performances by boys and girls in uniform, will be held under the motto “The connection between generations will not be interrupted!”

How to watch the parade?

It will start at 10.00 on Red Square and will be broadcast on TV channels. The ideal option for those who want to see the equipment is to attend rehearsals or catch the equipment after the parade. You won't be able to get to Red Square - all invitations are personal only and are not available for free sale. The parade will be broadcast at city venues and parks.

The flight of aircraft can be seen from many points. Perhaps the best of them is Raushskaya embankment. And it will be possible to photograph the equipment above St. Basil's Cathedral. Tall buildings will not obscure the view.

It is ideal to look at the equipment along the route. At the same time, it is better to avoid Tverskaya Street from Pushkinskaya Square to Manezhnaya - this section will still be blocked. Alternatively, you can look at the equipment during parade rehearsals - for example, on May 7 at 10.00 there will be a dress rehearsal with the participation of foot columns and military equipment, and on May 4 in the morning you can see an aviation flyover over Moscow.

But with foot columns things are more complicated, because they usually approach Red Square from several sides - along Varvarka, Ilyinka and from Kotelnicheskaya Embankment.

It is better to reserve viewing places in advance, because, as practice shows, there will be many people who want to see the columns of military equipment and “boxes”.

Reconstructions of military events

Central Museum of Armored Weapons and Equipment in Kubinka on May 9 will conduct a historical reconstruction of the events “Victory in the Great Patriotic War.” Spectators will see the battle for the Seelow Heights, and then concert events will begin in which spectators will be able to participate. Patriot Park even invited its guests to send a list of songs that they would like to sing to the accompaniment of a button accordion.

A large exhibition of military equipment “Weapons of Victory” will be held in Gorky Park May 8–9. The ZiS-2 anti-tank gun, T-60, T-37A tanks, M-30 howitzer and other equipment will be on display on Pushkinskaya embankment. Those who wish will be fed soldier's porridge.

Children will also find something to do in Gorky Park- little guests of the park will be able to feel like nurses and intelligence officers. The popular war game “Zarnitsa” will be held for them.

In Kuzminki Park Those who wish will be able to take pictures in wartime uniforms, and then launch letters of gratitude into the sky to those who defended our Motherland.

In the park "Tsaritsyno" In memory of the war soldiers, a ten-meter-high installation “Immortal Flight” will appear in the park - many white cranes flying into the sky. Guests of the holiday will be able to fold their own cranes out of paper and complement the installation. In addition, at 20:00 a concert of wartime songs will begin in the park, accompanied by the symphony orchestra of the Moscow Academic Musical Theater. K. S. Stanislavsky and Vl. I. Nemirovich-Danchenko.

A in Izmailovsky Park guests will be able to retrain as aircraft designers and create their own model aircraft.

On Victory Square, at the Museum of the Great Patriotic War, the exhibition “Battle for Moscow. First victory." At the exhibition you will be able to see military equipment, military household items, equipment, weapons, etc. 35 museums provided exhibits from their collections.

On Chistoprudny Boulevard The exhibition “Front-line Life of Heroes” will open - the installations “Hospital”, “Young Soldier Course”, “Before the Battle”, “Photo Studio”, “Dance Floor of the 40s”, “Station, Meeting of Heroes” are presented here.

At 18.55 A minute of silence will be declared throughout the city.

The concert program will begin at 19.00.

Where to watch fireworks?

The spectacle will begin at 22.00 Moscow time and will last 10 minutes. 18 guns and 72 fireworks installations will be placed at 16 points: in Luzhniki, on Poklonnaya Hill, at VDNH, in Kyzminki, Izmailovo, Lianozovo, Tyshin, Obrychev, Novo-Peredelkin, Pokrovsk-Streshnevo, Mitino, Butove, on Borisovskie Prydy street , in the Levoberezhny district and in the cities of Troitsk and 3elenograd.

The holiest and brightest holiday in Russia has always been and remains Victory Day. Other countries of the former Soviet Union also honor this date, paying tribute to those who died for liberating the world from fascist scourge. Victory Day on May 9, 2017, as always, will take place through the streets and squares of all cities in Russia and many other countries that suffered from the German invaders. This year, for the convenience of workers and students, Monday will be added to the holiday falling on Tuesday, and the previous Saturday, May 6, will become a shortened working day. Thus, we will rest on the 7th, 8th, 9th.

Victory Day celebration

The spring significant day will begin the procession from the eastern outskirts - Vladivostok traditionally celebrates it with a parade on the central square of Fighters of the Revolution. Residents of all major cities of the country will become spectators at military marches dedicated to the 72nd anniversary of the Victory over fascism.

On Victory Day 2017, events on Red Square, as always, will be spectacular and touching. The few survivors of the war will take the most honorable places on the podium, with children and grandchildren next to them. The connection between generations in the country clearly demonstrates the unity of the people and traditions, which are the basis for the education of youth. The President will congratulate the veterans and everyone present on Victory Day and will open the parade. Military school cadets and representatives of various branches of the military will walk along the paving stones, as will military equipment of the latest generation; military aircraft will take to the sky, as if on a ruler, maintaining their distance - this spectacle makes a great impression.

On a fine May day, thousands of Muscovites and city guests gather on Poklonnaya Hill. The architectural and sculptural complex, opened in 1995, consists of:

  • Victory Monument;
  • stelae 141;
  • 8 m high with bronze bas-reliefs and the figure of the goddess Nike;
  • Museum of the Great Patriotic War;
  • Church of St. George the Victorious;
  • Holocaust Museum;
  • Memorial synagogues and mosques;
  • sculptural compositions.

The architectural ensemble is a place where parents bring their children to feel the bitterness of the war years and the cost of the Great Victory. 1418 fountains in memory of every harsh day, authentic technology, the Victory Banner, which fluttered over the Reichstag in 1945 - all these elements and attributes leave an indelible mark on our hearts. On Poklonnaya Hill, the 2017 Victory Day Parade is broadcast live, and after it ends, a festive concert begins in an open area, where songs of the war years are performed by famous singers. And in the evening, at exactly 22 o’clock, the festive fireworks begin; Poklonnaya Hill is the best place where, from a height of 365 m, you can watch how the sky is illuminated with multi-colored lights in different areas of the capital.

Events for Victory Day 2017

After the end of the Parade, folk festivities begin in the parks and squares of the capital with a concert program and a field kitchen. People who experienced terrible war days in their childhood sing old forgotten songs to the sounds of an accordion and rejoice in peaceful life. The celebration of Victory Day is a tribute to the memory of those who have passed away and gratitude to living veterans, not one of whom will be ignored by the administration of cities and towns. Children of the war also receive gifts, flowers and congratulations; the city authorities organize days of remembrance for them, set tables, organize a Victory Day concert with performances by children's groups, which is especially touching for older people.

Many other events take place in Russian cities, but none of them can be compared in scale to the “Immortal Regiment”. The brilliant idea, which swept the entire country and went beyond its borders, was first held in the city of Tomsk in 2012 on the initiative of journalist Sergei Lapenkov. Every year the action is gaining momentum; Victory Day in Moscow 2017 will undoubtedly attract a procession of thousands and stretch across half the capital. Residents of other cities come to the heart of the country to walk along Red Square with photographs of their warring relatives; this is an indicator of cohesion, the unity of living generations and a demonstration of the memory of departed liberators. Great-great-grandchildren are already proudly talking about the feat of those who fought; children, sitting on the shoulders of their fathers, try to hold up photographs of young soldiers, carefully stored in family albums.

For the past two years, Russian President V.V. has been in the front row. Putin with a photo of his father, a front-line soldier. Cities abroad picked up the idea, and now our compatriots living in other countries are organizing a procession in memory of their relatives who participated in the Great Patriotic War. In 2016, 50 countries around the world held the “Immortal Regiment” campaign, in which a total of about 25 million people took part. In the CIS countries, Israel, the Baltic states, Europe, America, Canada, Australia, China, local residents marched in ranks next to our compatriots.

The motor rally for Victory Day 2017 will be held in Yelnya, the city of military Glory. For several years now, motorists have been driving through places marked by battle monuments and obelisks, and ending their journey at Ushakovo Field. At each stop, military songs are sung to the accordion and flowers are laid.

Veterans and disabled people of the Patriotic War will receive payments for Victory Day, which should be higher than in previous years.

In 2016, the maximum amount for the holiday for this category of persons was 51 thousand rubles, due to inflation, some increase is planned, veterans can also count on an increase in pensions, the corresponding amounts have already been included in the country’s budget.

Victory Day in Ukraine

Unfortunately, not all countries of the former Soviet Union honor the traditions of the holy holiday. Victory Day in Kyiv in 2017 will show whether Ukrainians’ views on this day have changed compared to 2016, which literally passed with tears in their eyes. Elderly veterans and nationalist youths had their St. George ribbons torn off and burned in front of the police; the weak resistance of the elderly was brutally suppressed by young, healthy guys - we are not talking about any respect for the feat of the liberators or respect for old age. But, nevertheless, the “Immortal Regiment” marched through the city, its participants managed to reach the memorial monument to the Unknown Soldier and lay flowers.

Processions also took place in other cities of Ukraine, although they were not crowded. Fireworks on Victory Day in 2017, a favorite entertainment for children, will be in major cities of the country. Despite economic difficulties, the authorities are still trying to arrange a holiday for the townspeople - they are cleaning up the parks, planting flowers on the streets, and turning on fountains. Victory Day in Ukraine will always be celebrated with the hope of a peaceful sky and the restoration of justice, because those for whom this holiday is truly associated with the liberation of the country from Nazism and cruelty, those who preserve the memory of the feat of the Soviet soldier, are still alive.

Holiday traditions

Many older people who have not mastered modern technology traditionally congratulate friends and relatives by sending postcards on Victory Day in 2017; communications workers talk about an increasing flow of correspondence for the holiday. Veterans who have a home telephone are provided with free minutes so that they can call other cities and congratulate their friends on a wonderful bright day. And those who have mastered the wisdom of the Internet exchange virtual audio letters and animated greeting cards.

Elderly people need attention like no one else, so payments for Victory Day 2017 not only make their financial situation a little easier, but also remind them that they are not forgotten.
