Are gnomes good or evil? How to summon a good gnome - effective rituals. How to call a good gnome and who he is

We know Greek mythology quite well. Somewhat worse - Indian, Chinese. And much worse, paradoxically, we Europeans know the myths, tales and legends of the Germanic, Celtic and other peoples of Europe. This is partly due to the fact that, starting from the Renaissance, Europeans disavowed the Middle Ages and turned their attention to classical - Greco-Roman - antiquity. Only at the end of the 18th - beginning of the 19th centuries, when Europeans realized that an entire era had ended and gone into the past, they rushed to collect this past piece by piece. First of all, this affected fairy tales, legends, and traditions. The Brothers Grimm, Hauff, Andersen... Collections of fairy tales, so cozy and sweet, have become favorite home and family reading.
In the last two or three decades, Europeans, for various reasons, have again begun to show interest in “properly European” myths, legends, folk songs, and folklore in general. John Tolkien’s neo-mythological epic “The Lord of the Rings” contributed to this to a large extent. Europeans realized that they did not know this world very well. It will probably be interesting for us to talk about his characters - gnomes, goblins, elves and others.
So, let's go. Let's start, perhaps, with gnomes, which are found in the European fairy-tale tradition in a variety of forms - from little men from folk tales to Lilliputians from Jonathan Swift's Gulliver's Travels.

According to one explanation, the word "gnome" comes from the Late Latin "gnomus" - "small". According to others, the word “gnome” was invented by the Swiss alchemist Paracelsus, in whose works it first appeared. "Gnosis" means "knowledge" in Greek. From him, Paracelsus invented the word “gnome” because gnomes are experts in many crafts and bearers of secret knowledge; they know and can reveal to a person the exact location of metals hidden in the earth.
Dwarves are small in stature, but endowed with supernatural strength, wear long beards and live much longer than humans. According to legend, they emerged from Chaos at the same time as people or even a little earlier. Dwarves live underground and are well versed in metals and stones, especially precious ones; they can see the past and predict the future of living and inanimate nature, animals and people. Dwarves are excellent craftsmen, particularly blacksmiths. It was they who forged the ring of the great German god Odin, which brought wealth to the one who wore it, and they also made the miracle sword of King Arthur - Excalibur.
Dwarves love to help people. True, when they invade their world too unceremoniously - by blowing up mountains or digging underground tunnels, the gnomes can stand up for themselves, although more often they simply leave the disturbed places.
Different gnomes are engaged in different activities: one clan or clan is responsible for gold and its processing, another for precious stones, and a third for mechanisms. Relatives of gnomes - gremlins - are also responsible for the mechanisms.
Once upon a time, gremlins treated people kindly, helped them, “forced” machines to work faster, more accurately and more clearly. (The compilers of fairy-tale encyclopedias will not fail to recall that American gremlins contributed to the success of B. Franklin in his experiments with electricity, and Scottish ones helped James Watt in the design of a steam engine).
People, however, attributed all the merits and successes in the development of technology to themselves, and the gremlins were offended. Since the industrial revolution, they began to harm people, especially engineers and technicians, drivers and pilots. If you're inflating a bicycle tire and it suddenly bursts, that's the work of a gremlin. Instead of a nail, you hit your finger with a hammer: quickly scan the ground with your eyes, and, if you’re lucky, you’ll definitely see the sparkling heels of a fleeing gremlin. The only way to avoid falling into his trap is to carefully inspect the equipment used and pay special attention to the little things, because disabling any small part is the gremlin’s favorite thing.
The list of magical creatures does not end with gnomes and gremlins. It contains, for example, leprechauns and uldra. Leprechauns are little people who live mainly in Ireland. Leprechauns, according to mythological tradition, are dwarfs who make shoes; by the way, their name literally consists of these words. In winter they live underground, and in summer they come out into the light, trying not to catch the eye of people. But sometimes they are still noticed - either by the uniform knocking of hammers in the clearing, or by the flickering of green shirts and pants, red hats, leather aprons and shoes with buckles in the grass.

It is believed that leprechauns know where treasures are hidden. That's why people try to catch them. However, this is very difficult to do. As a means of self-defense, they use their favorite snuff: the contents of the snuff box fly into the eyes of the offender, and that’s what the leprechaun was.
Lapland and Sweden have their own gnomes. They are called Uldra. The uldra - small people covered with fur ("ull" in Swedish for "wool") - live underground and, as northern residents believe, feed bears when they hibernate. In winter, the Uldra often come to the ground. And woe to people if they prevent them from coming to the surface.
In European medieval mythology, different peoples had other creatures that lived in the mountains, in caves, under the ground of which they are also called gmurs and homozuli. They are similar to people, only smaller in height, so it is more convenient for them to walk through caves. These are great master blacksmiths who know the secrets of the mountains. They were the first to learn how to mine ore and smelt metals. In general, they are kind and hard-working people, but they have suffered greatly from human greed, which is why they do not like people. They hide in deep mountain caves, where they built underground cities and palaces. The Gmurs still fight in the dungeons with mountain monsters.
If gnomes are unsightly little creatures, then elves and fairies are almost perfect. All fairies and elves, without exception, are gifted with the ability to instantly appear, instantly disappear and become invisible, or take on the appearance of various kinds of animals or inanimate objects. Magic clothes help them appear and disappear.

Elves (Alves in Germanic mythology) are relatives of gnomes, but they cannot stand dungeons. Elves are essentially forest spirits, living mainly in the north and west of Europe. They have a beautiful appearance and their movements are full of grace. They have enormous knowledge and predict the future. Elves are sages and wizards. They taught people magic, secret sciences, and sought to improve morals. The elves are ruled by kings. One of the last refuges of the elves was Eulysia - the Blessed Swan Country. They say that somewhere in the ocean there is a magical island where they moved, but there is no road for people there. People believe that the life of elves flows between their favorite activities and noisy, unbridled fun. The territory of the island consists of huge magical gardens, through which transparent streams flow on golden and silver banks, where flowers adorn all year round, birds of paradise sing, where instead of the sun, moon and stars, semi-precious stones burn brightly, where the sounds of wonderfully beautiful music are forever floating in the air. unearthly music... On this island among the ever-blooming gardens stand their castles. Here no one bothers the elves, they eat fruits, sing songs and never grow old. Despite all their love for music, elves cannot stand the ringing of bells and have become much less likely to appear on earth since bells are ringing everywhere. The elves are afraid of thunder even more than they are of the ringing of bells: as soon as it thunders, they all immediately hide. And the beating of drums is also unbearable for them, which they constantly mistake for peals of thunder.

There are different stories about the origin of the elves. In legends, their appearance is closely connected with the history of the entire universe, and there are two main “categories” of elves: white elves, light, kind, and dvergs or trolds - gloomy and gloomy, cunning and evil. In the Middle Ages, it was widely believed that dverg elves pressed on the chests of sleeping people and gave them bad dreams. They were also credited with the insidious habit of throwing tiny iron arrows from afar, which pierce the skin without leaving a mark and cause sudden, painful colic.
In different countries, elves treat people differently. In Germany they either help them or harm them. In England they are much kinder. But in all countries, experts conjure people from participating in elf dances in the moonlight, for when the elves disappear with the crow of a cock at dawn, man disappears with them - forever.
The elves spend their time not only in dancing and music: they love to engage in crafts and whatever they undertake, they perform excellently. Their activities are extremely varied. The Scots and Danes consider elves to be good builders. It is believed that the elves built all those stalactite caves that are so rich in the coasts and coastal islands of Scotland. Traditions have been preserved about the occupation of elves in cattle breeding in Ireland, Denmark and Switzerland. In Ireland, they said that more than once they saw how, on bright moonlit nights, large, well-fed, white cows with calves came out of the water (rivers or lakes) and grazed in the meadows, where after that grass did not grow for a whole year. In Denmark, shepherds firmly believe that elves graze their invisible cattle near the hills and really don’t like it when these cattle mix with human herds; they even send all kinds of illnesses and misfortunes to the herds for this. In Switzerland, legends say that light mountain chamois are considered the cattle of the elves, and they cannot be hunted.

Very often, elves do good to people completely disinterestedly, just as they punish vice out of sheer love for justice. Very often they helped various poor people with money, from which they became rich. Their kind heart is even more expressed in their constant patronage of children: they protect them from danger, make their work easier, lay out bundles of brushwood and baskets of berries for them on the road in the forest or in the field, feed them with their magical dishes, which instantly heal illnesses. Elves also reward children for their love for their parents (by miraculously rescuing sons from captivity or saving daughters from the power of some monster).
In some ways, elves resemble fairies. In the mythology of Western European peoples, fairies are supernatural creatures in the guise of beautiful young women or old women. They are endowed with the ability to perform miracles and can be both good and evil. Contrary to popular belief, fairies are not only female, but also male. In most European tales and legends, fairies have wings. They fly from flower to flower, enjoying life and seem to be unable to fend for themselves. In fact, fairies and elves are brave warriors who can strike fear into their enemies.

In English-speaking countries, fairies are called “fairies” - “magical creatures”. This term, as they say in fairy-tale encyclopedias, comes from the Latin word “fata” - “rock, spirit, deity of fate.” In ancient Italy, veils were spirits of fate that appeared in the house immediately after the birth of a child and presented gifts to him and his family. The future fate (fata) of the baby largely depended on how the newborn’s family accepted the fatas and their gifts. With the spread of Roman rule in Europe, veils filled many corners of this part of the world. In France, the Gauls began to pronounce fatae as fee (hence fairy); in England they began to be called fays.
The usual height of fairies is no more than 40 - 50 centimeters, but they can shrink and increase in size. Unlike animals, for whom fairies are clearly visible, people, as a rule, are able to see them only for a short moment between blinking twice - of course, unless the fairies have first cast special magic spells, after which they do not disappear from the field of view of people. They say that the easiest time to see fairies is on the night before the summer solstice, when they dance and dance in circles under the light of the moon. But experienced people warn: you shouldn’t get too close, the fairies can get angry and punish a person, for example, make a person sleepwalk.

Fairies love to dance and hold merry balls. But they don't spend all their time dancing. They can be seen yarning, weaving, sewing. The speed, subtlety and beauty of their work have become proverbial. Their skillful hands, says legend, produce those cloaks and carpets, endowed with all sorts of wonderful properties, those hats, invisibility caps and thin shirts that protect the body better than any chain mail, which fairies often give to their favorites.
Experts say that there is no Fairyland as such. Fairies live next to people who, unfortunately, do not understand and feel them well. Fairies eat mainly plant foods, berries, fruits, and will also not refuse honey and bird eggs. But their favorite treat is cakes.
Fairies tend to live in communities. Each fairy community has its own queen, who maintains strict discipline there. Once a year, all the queens gather for a council, but, as befits women, they hardly discuss matters, but gossip, show off their outfits, and have fun. At the very top of the hierarchy is the most important queen, Titania, who rules alongside Prince Oberon. However, the decrees emanating from Titania's court are not strictly binding on all communities.
As a rule, fairies get along with the outside world. Typically, but not always. For example, they did not find a common language with the pixies.

Pixies, according to legend, live in the western counties of England. According to fairy-tale encyclopedias, pixies were brought to England by the Phoenicians a long time ago. When fairies appeared there later, during the Roman conquest of Britain, the pixies were at first friendly to them. However, a war subsequently broke out between them, and the pixies drove their magical opponents out of the western counties. The decisive battle took place during the reign of King Arthur, during which the Pixies drove their opponents to the east.
Pixies, like gnomes, are short in stature. However, they can decrease or, conversely, reach human height. In the latter case, they are recognized by the combination of red hair and green eyes (it is believed that this feature accurately identifies a pixie who has taken on a human form). Pixies wear tight-fitting green clothes, which allows them to hide in the foliage and play tricks on people.
Their favorite joke is to confuse the traveler so much that he loses his way and wanders senselessly and aimlessly in the same places. To avoid this, those in the know advise those traveling in Somerset, Devon and Cornwall to wear their clothes inside out. This throws the pixie off the scent and often off the scent. Local residents try to live in peace with the pixies, leaving them milk in jars, crumbs of bread or pie.
It is much more difficult to come to an agreement with other small creatures living in or under houses. We're talking about boggarts. Their favorite pastime is making noise and creaking in the dark, teasing dogs, scaring cats. Getting rid of bogtarts is not at all easy.

Fortunately, not all small creatures and spirits are unkind to people. For example, kolbods are good-natured people. The same can be said about brownies - dark-skinned people who, according to legend, live in Scotland. These are good-natured brownies who open up to simple and cheerful people, especially children, with whom they love to play. They protect houses and livestock from the evil tricks of other spirits. They are also considered the best defense against goblins: they are able to undo the damage caused by goblins and generally make them stay away. But who are goblins?
All magical creatures of small stature, even evil gremlins, are terribly disliked and offended when they are confused with goblins. Elves and fairies avoid the company of goblins. And even the witches do not let them near their hearth.
According to legend, goblins appeared in Spain and wandered along the Pyrenees for a long time until they found a crack in the rock. Having penetrated through it into France, they settled from there throughout Europe. The Celtic Druid priests called them Robin Goblin, later this name was shortened to Hobgoblin and Goblin.

Goblins are about the same height as gnomes, maybe a little taller. However, it is difficult to confuse them - the faces of goblins bear an indelible imprint of malice and sophisticated deceit. Their smile makes your blood run cold. And this is not the only difference between goblins and gnomes. Goblins, according to legend, do not know crafts; they only know how to make gargoyles (drains in the shape of terrible dragons) and draw, but, again, only monsters - dragons and basilisks.
The main occupation of goblins is to cause harm and do dirty tricks. They send nightmares to those sleeping and harass horses in the stables. Since they can communicate with insects, their favorite activity in the summer is to set bees, wasps and flies on people.
Their capricious and quarrelsome disposition, because of which goblins often quarrel, does not allow them to stay in one place for long. So they roam in groups, not missing the opportunity to leave a bad memory about themselves.
In English mythology, goblins are creatures similar to humans, but ugly and evil. Their home is underground caves, tunnels, and they also settle in tree hollows. It is said that goblins also like to live under stone bridges. Goblins often wear caps pulled down over their eyes. Small, twisted with disproportionately large heads, legs and arms, green in color. Goblins have heads harder than stones. The little freaks always lived in dirt and horror.

The most famous goblin is nicknamed Red Cap. He lives on the border of Scotland and England, now in one ruined castle, now in another. He sometimes needs human blood, which he uses to tint his hat. Although Red Cap, like all goblins, is small in stature and has the appearance of a stocky old man with long gray hair, they claim that it is not easy to cope with him: he is very strong and, moreover, paralyzes with his terrible appearance, especially with his red eyes burning with an ominous fire. The ancient manuals on the forces of evil state, however, that as soon as a few words from the Bible are uttered, the goblin will immediately disappear.
Not all evil deeds are committed by goblins of their own free will and intent. Often their actions are to carry out the orders, instructions and whims of their overlords. And trolls are considered the lords of goblins. At least that's what the old books say.
It is unlikely that the reader has often encountered trolls - perhaps only in retellings of Scandinavian legends and in H. C. Andersen’s fairy tale “The Steadfast Tin Soldier,” where an evil troll jumped out of a snuffbox. So - trolls. Their evil disposition can be judged by the fact that in Swedish the second meaning of the word “troll” is “evil person”; “trolla” - “to cast a spell”; “trolldom” - “enchantment, divination”, “trollcarl” - “wizard, mage, sorcerer”, and sometimes “enemy”.
Trolls live in northern Europe, Scandinavia, in mountains, forests, wetlands and areas covered with heather and moss. More precisely, they do not live, but meet, because they live underground in caves, and only come to the surface of the earth as needed. Some of them never leave their underground dwellings at all, and one can only guess about their existence by the noise they make there. The presence of trolls is also revealed by the behavior of domestic animals: horses stop dead in their tracks, cows stop giving milk, and dogs and cats simply hide. These are all signs that a troll is wandering nearby at night. Precisely at night, as the sun's rays turn trolls - underground inhabitants - into stones. Therefore, they rush to get into their homes before dawn.

Trolls have a rather strange appearance. At first glance, the troll appears to be a huge, shapeless, furry lump. However, if you pluck up courage, hide and, holding your breath, try to look at it more closely, you can discern the outlines of a head, arms, and legs. However, few have seen trolls close to them, because, firstly, they avoid people, and they can break the neck of someone who inadvertently gets in their way with one blow of their mighty shaggy paw; secondly, people are afraid of trolls: they say that a person who has seen a troll at least once will never be the same.
The attitude of trolls towards people is a contradiction. They don't like people, they can kill them. But, on the other hand, trolls, being generally not very curious, show great interest in people and love to peep at them and feel their things. They say that trolls watch a person with some kind of inescapable sadness and longing in their eyes. Some explain this by the fact that trolls are in constant mourning for their distant ancestors - the giants. In ancient times, these giants ruled Scandinavia, but then the gods came and drove them away. The giants had to go underground, where they turned into trolls.
This is the variety of magical creatures and spirits found in the world of European mythology. However, these are not all of his characters.

The question of how to summon a good gnome worries both children and adults, because these magical entities are capable of fulfilling wishes and bringing gifts. Find out how to get in touch with an amazing magical assistant.

How to call a good gnome and who it is

Fulfilling your desires is actually simple. If you cannot achieve a goal on your own, ask for help from magical entities. It’s worth contacting, and, of course, the gnomes. If you believe the legends, then among them there are both good and evil characters.

Only black sorcerers use the help of insidious gnomes. These creatures are insidious, treacherous and do not like to make contact. But even kind people are touchy and, if angered, can punish.

What do fairy tales tell about gnomes? Such creatures live in caves deep underground. These are hardworking, responsible characters, masters. It is believed that if a gnome gives a gift made with his own hands, then you are very lucky - this thing will never break.

There are sweet and obscene ones. Each of them can be summoned. But before starting the rituals, you need to familiarize yourself with the tips. They cannot be violated.

You can call a gnome on your own or with friends. Important: if you are summoning an entity together with friends, you need to ensure that during the ritual people do not talk, do not make fun of the gnome, or move from place to place.

Such behavior can make a magical character very angry; he will not tolerate ridicule. Remember, he has power and will be able to protect himself.

Don't be distracted, turn off your mobile phones and TV in advance. The place where the gnome will come should be comfortable.

When a mirror is used in the ritual, be careful; if the entity gets stuck in it, it will constantly plot intrigues. After completing the manipulations, be sure to clean the attribute with running water and leave it wrapped in a dark, thick cloth for three days.

hut

Using this ritual, you can not only call a gnome for contact, but also find out your future. To carry out the ritual you will need several branches, 3 containers of water, a little salt and sugar.

At midnight, in a dark corner of the room, build a small hut from the prepared branches. Place bowls of liquid on the table. Throw sugar into one, salt into the other, leave the last one like that. Say three times:

Good gnome, come and show me my future.

After this, go straight to bed. You may hear noise and grumbling at night. This is a gnome getting out of his hut. The next morning, see which bowl has less liquid.

  • If in the one in which clean water, then no changes are expected in the near future.
  • In which sugar, - within a few days a happy event will knock on the door.
  • Salt, - trouble will happen, you will shed tears.

You can make contact with the magical essence during the day. This ritual is suitable for those who are afraid to be left alone with a gnome in the middle of the night.

To carry out the ritual, arm yourself with various sweets and one wax, non-church candle. Sit on a chair with your back to the door, place gifts near it, and hold a lit candle in your hands. Say:

Good gnome, come to me, tell me the whole truth, and I will share sweets with you.

As soon as you hear rustling, stomping and grumbling, it means the gnome has arrived and is already devouring sweets. Under no circumstances should you turn around.

Otherwise, you can, firstly, confuse the gnome, and secondly, get scared. These creatures do not have a very pleasant appearance. As soon as the slurping subsides, start talking with the magical entity.

You can ask no more than 3 questions. Think in advance, they should be short and concise. After asking one, wait for an answer, only then ask another. When you know everything you need, say:

Thank you gnome for coming. Now go to your place.

After the stomping subsides, you can put out the candle. This will complete the ritual.

If you want the gnome to fulfill his dream, you can perform such a ritual. However, remember that entities from the other world are not omnipotent. They will not be able to turn into either a sorceress; this can be done using other rituals.

A magical assistant will not be able to bring wealth or happiness. Therefore, the request should be as simple as possible and it could not be interpreted in two ways.

So, how to call a good gnome: go to the yard, or to the park, find a clearing that is surrounded by trees. Dig a small hole, make a wish and put a candy or coin there. Tell::

Gnome, gnome, come, I brought you a gift. Accept it, in return fulfill my wish.

Bury and turn away. If you hear a noise, then in three days the gnome will grant your wish.

You can voice one of your cherished desires, thank the magical assistant and leave. Within three days the dream will fulfill your wish. If the entity begins to swear, become indignant and make noise, this indicates that he is angry, leave immediately.

The Japanese believed that if there is a lot of netsuke in the house, evil will leave it forever. But these little things are known all over the world not only as lucky amulets. The fact is that tiny but very expressive netsuke were created by many real artists, and then these figurines became masterpieces of world art.
For a long time in Japan, miniature figurines of gods and fairies, sages and singers, animals and birds were created from wood, ivory or metal. And they weren't made for games. The figurines had the most prosaic purpose: with their help, necessary things such as a tobacco pouch, a pipe, keys, etc. were attached to the belt of a kimono, the national clothing of the Japanese. That is, these trinkets served as key rings. They were called netsuke, or more precisely, netsuke, which means a counterweight, a keychain.
Can this figure be considered a toy? The fact is that many researchers studying the fate of small plastic (as figurines made of different materials are called) have noticed one pattern. Sculptural images of gods, chess pieces, ritual dolls sooner or later end up in children's hands. In many tribes, children are given idols that have a ritual purpose. The same thing happened with ancient chess: kids played with chess pieces when the adults finished the game. Of course, Japanese children also played with netsuke. And their parents did not forbid them to do this, since each figurine could bring happiness to its owner.
The sage Daruma bestowed fortitude, perseverance and courage, Daikoku with a bag of magic rice promised wealth, and Ebisu with a magic carp in his hands - good luck (just as it is difficult to catch a carp with your bare hands, it is also difficult to achieve peace of mind).
The double figure of Daikoku and Ebisu - happiness and luck, going hand in hand. Shousin, the god of happiness, held ginseng root (health) and a magical peach (longevity). Hotei - the god of happiness, fun and communication - was depicted in different ways, sitting or standing, but always smiling. He fulfilled his cherished wish. To do this, you had to stroke his stomach three hundred times, while thinking about something desired.
They took Futen with them on the road - the uncle of the fair wind, bringing good luck along the way. He carried a bag behind his back and smiled serenely. A person listening to a conch shell gave good luck in creativity. Samurai - fortitude, courage and courage. The queen of the sky, Sivanmu, used her fan to drive away the winds of adversity. This means that one could choose a netsuke doll for all occasions.

Gmurs are similar to people, only smaller in stature, so it is more convenient for them to walk through caves. Some of the gmurs mixed with people, and from them people received knowledge about blacksmithing and jewelry.

Gnomes are spirits of the earth and mountains. In the mythology of the peoples of Europe, small, human-like creatures live underground, in the mountains or in the forest. They are the size of a child, but endowed with supernatural strength, wear long beards and live much longer than humans.

Dwarves are extremely touchy, quarrelsome and capricious. In the depths of the earth, gnomes store treasures - precious stones and metals; They are skilled artisans and can forge magic rings, swords, chain mail and other magical items. Inseparable from dragons. Dragons hunt for the treasures of the gnomes and the gnomes are therefore in constant war with them.

In mythology and literature, a gnome is a collective image. It is presented differently in different mythologies and works. But almost everywhere, gnomes are depicted as small humanoid creatures. Usually, dungeons are the habitat of gnomes. In caves, gnomes accumulate treasures of gold, silver and precious stones, and devote themselves to creating unique weapons and armor. They are famous as miners and blacksmiths, but, like people, they are versatile.

Dwarves are a mythological race, spirits of the mountains and the earth. You can read about gnomes in fairy tales from almost all European countries.

Troll and gnome
A long time ago there lived a gnome in the same cave. He had a lot of gold and gold mines. The cave was intended for life. There was very tasty and clean water. Near the cave there was fertile soil in which root gnomes could be grown. In general, this gnome's life was very good.
There was also a troll who lived next to the cave. Every day he saw the life of a gnome and envied him. The troll really wanted to have a lot of gold, delicious food, and a cozy home. Since trolls were not very smart, he could not come up with a normal plan and did what they had done to him. He gave the gnome a map of an abandoned mine. The dwarf, of course, went in search of this mine because he wanted to have more gold.
While the gnome was away, the troll entered the cave, took all the gnome's gold and occupied the cave. By the time the dwarf returned, the troll had changed the entire cave by adding skulls and all sorts of other trophies. Returning, the gnome saw a cave occupied by a troll, got angry, and threatened
troll and went somewhere. The troll just laughed at this.
The next day the dwarf again came to the cave and said to the troll:
- “You now have a lot of gold. But there is a place where there is much more gold than in the cave. This place is in my mine - in the magma.”
The troll laughed slyly and ran into the mine. Having reached its end, the troll saw the magma and jumped into it. There was a troll and there was no troll.
It's bad to steal someone else's property. Like this.

The myth of the mithril city
One day, a group of gnomes, led by the gnome miner Merl, began to dig a mine in a mountain that had been abandoned for some reason. Previously, the dwarves remembered why, but by that time they had already forgotten.
So here it is. Merl's team continued the long-term work of the dwarves. After long hours of work, the dwarves noticed that when they hit the wall with pickaxes, a dull sound was heard. Marot realized that there was emptiness behind the wall. After a violent knock, the wall came loose. A stone city appeared in front of the dwarves. Harpies began to fly out of the houses. The gnomes managed to hide behind the stones. The harpies did not notice them and flew into a hole that was high in the mountain.
While the harpies were gone, the dwarves began to inspect the city, but suddenly the sounds of harpies arriving were heard. Merle took a big big stone and threw it into the hole. The hole closed, but the harpies did not even think of giving up. They began to get the stone. They did it.
- “That’s it.” - thought the dwarf - “Everything is gone. Only a miracle will save us.”
And a miracle happened. The stone fell. The impact shook the entire mountain. Small stones began to fall from the houses. When all the pebbles slept, everyone saw that the houses were made of methril. The harpies were frightened by the bright light and flew away.
It turned out that the harpies had found a dwarf city in the methril mountain. They thought this place was convenient for living and cast a spell in the form of stones hiding the bright light. Because the spell was so old that it fell apart at the first blow.
Now this mountain is called Everest, and there is a dwarven city in it.

Legend of the Dwarven Alliance clan
One day a dwarf, while digging his mine, came across someone else's gallery. Surprisingly, the walls of this gallery were completely made of gold and diamonds.
The gnome, having forgotten that the mine was someone else’s and could even belong to goblins, began desperately knocking on the diamond walls with his pickaxe. Even after a few minutes, the gnome had not chipped off a single diamond. He was tired of the useless work and decided to catch his breath. While catching his breath, the gnome noticed an unknown device near the turn. The device was a large piece of iron with a handle and a point at the end.
The dwarf guessed that this was a “pickaxe” for mining gold and diamonds. As soon as he went to take it, the hand of an unknown gnome appeared from behind the handle, wielding the so-called “pickaxe” and disappearing.
The dwarf realized that he was not alone in this mine. Carefully, he looked around the corner and saw hundreds of gnomes working there. They mined gold, ore, diamonds and crystals. There were sleepers all over the shaft. Dwarves rode back and forth in carts and collected the extracted resources. As soon as the cart was filled, the gnomes in them rode somewhere deep into the mine.
Then the owner of the mine approached the gnome. He explained to the gnome that in order to survive they had to merge into one team and asked him to join it. The Dwarf agreed and suggested calling it the Dwarf Alliance.

The name of the chemical element cobalt comes from it. Kobold - brownie, gnome. When cobalt minerals containing arsenic are fired, volatile, toxic arsenic oxide is released. The ore containing these minerals was given the name of the mountain spirit Kobold by the miners. The ancient Norwegians attributed the poisoning of smelters during the melting of silver to the tricks of this evil spirit.

Chemical element nickel This element received its name from the name of the evil spirit of the mountains of German mythology, who threw the mineral arsenic-nickel shine, similar to copper ore, to copper seekers (cf. This was in those days when there was nothing on the earth except trees and bushes and old snags. In the forests underground lived little kind gnomes. They collected colored pebbles and sang funny songs. People on Earth lived an ordinary hectic life, sometimes not noticing that miracles live next to us. And when people don’t believe in miracles, their hearts gradually turn to stone.

Greed and stupidity, flattery and envy penetrate the hearts of people and remain there forever. And then the little gnomes noticed that the multi-colored pebbles began to lose their shine and fall apart into small pieces. Something had to be done! Then the forest inhabitants turned to the Fairy of the Forests for help:

- Dear fairy! People become angry and indifferent to miracles. Please turn us into beautiful flowers and herbs. We will delight people with our beauty. They will smile, and kindness will melt hardened hearts.
– But people will tear you down and trample you. “You will be in great pain, and tears of sadness can destroy you completely,” said the good fairy.
- Doesn't matter. We won't die. We will live on Earth until people become kinder and better.

The fairy fulfilled the gnomes' request. And since then, a huge number of different flowers and herbs have been growing on our Earth. And no matter how much people tear them, they still grow, bloom, delight us with their beauty and strive for people to become kinder and better as soon as possible.
