How to fold a military envelope from A4 sheet. Beautiful envelopes with your own hands step by step

Today I have a slightly unusual post, but it’s suitable for diluting SEO and money-making information. Moreover, it’s also about money :-). It all started with the fact that I needed to make an envelope for money. Naturally, I didn’t want to mess around with glue and paper with scissors. I went to the search engine and typed in the appropriate query, but didn’t find anything really suitable. Either you need glue or scissors. There are a lot of tutorials on scrapbooking techniques, which didn’t suit me at all.

A few years ago I got a little carried away Japanese art origami. I remembered that there is a way to fold a paper envelope without glue. But the problem is that in the schemes proposed on the Internet you need to use square sheets, but the A4 format is rectangular, so it must either be cut with scissors or torn off. I decided to improve the standard technique so that I could do without scissors, and I succeeded. Want to know how?

DIY money envelope diagram without glue and scissors from A4 sheet:

Explanation for the diagram:

  1. We bend the A4 sheet diagonally into a square.
  2. We bend the remaining part of the rectangle into a triangle.
  3. We do the same with the remaining piece.
  4. We straighten the sheet and begin folding it from a small triangle along the folds made earlier.
  5. We bend the excess part so that we get a square sheet.
  6. We bend the square diagonally and get a triangle.
  7. Next we proceed according to the standard scheme. Bend the triangle from the top.
  8. First we bend the right corner of the triangle.
  9. And put the left one on top of it.
  10. We find the center of the future lock, bend the edge to the left.
  11. Smooth out the folds.
  12. Then we turn the edge 90 degrees.
  13. With a slight movement we make a lock to the envelope.
  14. We straighten and level it.
  15. Bend and close the top cover.

Congratulations! Your envelope is ready. Everything is done without glue and scissors in literally half a minute, and yesterday I just spent half a day developing the diagram and instructions for it :-). I even decided to put watermarks so that no one would steal the idea.

But a white envelope is somehow boring and too formal. You can pre-print something on the sheet, for example, a photo of the birthday person, a landscape or some text. A4 sheet size: 210x297 mm. I have a black and white printer, so I chose a floral design.

Back view of the envelope:

By the way, a banknote will only fit into an A4 envelope folded in half, so for money it is better, if possible, to take paper in A3 format. You can put not only money in the envelope, but also, for example, a postcard with poems or a gift certificate from a store.

The scheme for making an envelope for money proposed in the article has a number of advantages compared to existing options:

  1. Does not require special skills, glue or scissors
  2. Available material - A4 paper is found in almost every home or office
  3. Printing a pattern increases the density of the paper and makes it more durable
  4. The envelope is made “on the knee” in the field in half a minute

P.S. Dima shared his envelope template in PSD format, based on which you can make backgrounds for a variety of holidays.

For those who don't want to bother with graphic editors I am posting several examples of thematic backgrounds for an envelope in JPG (they are in good quality are already in the archive at the link above).

1) For a birthday:

I needed an envelope here for one thing (I wanted to convey my congratulations sealed), and since the card was of a non-standard size, I had to quickly make an envelope with my own hands (fortunately, I have enough paper at home). And then everything was as usual - I showed it to my friends, and now I’m already making invitation envelopes for one, and the other is asking for a template for an envelope for money to give to her husband’s parents a large sum for the golden wedding.

I decided, without further ado, to simply write a short instruction on how to make envelopes. Yes, it seems to me that this is obvious, and everyone can guess how to fold a piece of paper and glue it together to make an envelope, but as practice shows, many people find it easier to work according to instructions, especially when it comes to needlework.

For what? My husband asked me this question when he saw me burying myself in my scrapbooks. He seems to understand the purpose of postcards, but envelopes turned out to be something beyond our reach. So, what are envelopes for?

  • as packaging for letters (yes, some people write paper letters and send postcards);
  • for packing cards - printing an envelope is much more exciting than just opening a greeting card;
  • handmade money envelopes will come in handy when you want to give someone a certain amount of money;
  • for romantic notes and secrets.
Of course, except postal item, all these reasons are not a necessity, but rather a whim. But here I am more categorical than ever - sometimes you need to allow yourself joy and whim just for pleasure, otherwise life will become boring and gray. And handmade gifts are perfect for this.

Different ways

There are many ways to pack a postcard, money or letter so that strangers cannot look into them, and, perhaps, talking about all the ways is a bad idea, the post will turn out to be too long and a rare bird will fly to its end. Therefore, we will do the following - I will tell you about the main ways to make an envelope for money with your own hands, and at the same time I will show you the works that inspire me. Using basic techniques and templates, you can make an envelope for any occasion with your own hands.

By the way, about templates: I advise you to save the templates you like, so you can be sure that you always have them at hand. I created a regular folder on my desktop where I put the pictures I like in Word files. However, I will talk about using word further.

Simple option

Sometimes you have to make a regular postal envelope for a letter or postcard yourself - either the nearest store doesn’t have it, or the format is inappropriate. I usually use a sample for this - I take an existing envelope (for example, from a postcard), measure it with a ruler and make the same paper envelope. But you can go the other way and learn how to make an envelope from A4 paper.

And in order for you to get an ordinary rectangular envelope, you need to mark a pattern on it, as in the diagram.

The two large parts are the walls of the envelope, it also has a long turn-down flap, and sides that need to be glued. It is best to glue it inside, so that there are no seams on the outside. Make a mark on your piece of paper, cut out the piece with sharp scissors, and then glue the sides.

Or you can make this simple and cute option:

And from 4 circles you can get the following envelope:

The video shows how to assemble it:

How to decorate such an envelope from A4 sheet:

  1. Use watercolor paper on which you can create colorful splashes and streaks.
  2. Make beautiful stickers - you can use ready-made ones, or you can download any picture from the Internet and print it.
  3. You can tie it up.

Manufacturing method without glue

Gluing an envelope is not difficult, but simply folding it out of paper is a little more difficult. Of course, the post office is unlikely to accept such an envelope, but for an accompanying card for a gift it is perfect - the congratulations will look cute and touching.

How to make an envelope without glue: you need to look through the origami templates and choose the one you like; make a pattern; cut the workpiece; fold and iron well. Or you can fold the paper as in the video below: no scissors or glue is needed, just an A4 sheet.

At first glance, everything is easy, right? The second one is also easy, but I advise you to still try to make the beautiful envelopes you like with your own hands, first from plain paper, and only then from scrapbooking paper. Of course, you can immediately practice on scrap paper, but it’s not a fact that the envelope will turn out neat the first time, and creases made on thick scrap paper will be much more difficult to correct.

How to decorate an envelope folded from paper without glue:

  • punch several holes with a hole punch and tie a beautiful ribbon on the envelope;
  • use a figured hole punch to decorate the edges and corners of the envelope;
  • make an applique from contrasting paper or special cutting.

Origami

I confess honestly, origami for me - dark forest, but I have made several of these envelopes (although, of course, I prefer scrapbooking money envelopes). So, what does it take to make an origami envelope for money?
  1. Square sheet of paper.
  2. Ruler for straight bends.
  3. Rolling needle (if you are folding origami from thick paper).

By the way, you can make an origami envelope out of paper without glue, which is also sometimes very convenient, but such envelopes are not suitable for mail. However, they are very, very beautiful, and it seems to me that if you use such an envelope for money for a birthday, the birthday person will feel all your care and attention.

Complex options

I’ll tell you a little about how to make scrap envelopes not according to a lesson, but simply using master classes for inspiration.

Scrapbooking is good because it allows you to make envelopes, postcards, albums and other amenities from literally nothing. Yes, now you can buy a variety of scrapbooking kits, but if you think about it, this technique came to us from the past, when women simply decorated their personal diaries and albums with lace, cuttings, stamping. All these techniques can be used now.

If you are into scrapbooking (or, like me, you just periodically buy materials and can’t pass them by), then you have certain supplies - lay them out on the table and try to combine one with the other. For example, select a couple of sheets of paper, match them with cuttings, decorative tape, and ribbons.

If you don’t have all this stuff, don’t be upset, and you don’t have to run to the store. Because you probably have something. And from this something you can most likely make a gift envelope. What may be useful:

  • scraps of cardboard, beautiful colored paper;
  • felt and decorative fabrics;
  • unnecessary postcards and photographs;
  • printouts with any patterns;
  • paper of different quality and purpose (even pieces of wallpaper will do);
  • ribbons, bows, laces;
  • buttons (by the way, a very fashionable trend in scrapbooking);
  • miniature figures;
  • trimmings of lace and thin fabrics;
  • nail polishes, decorative glitter and even unnecessary shadows (they are used to make pseudo-craquelure).
I think you already understand - almost anything can be used to make an envelope!

I'll bring you step by step video a lesson that I liked - I have nothing to add here, except that a DIY envelope for a wedding or an envelope for a gift card using this MK will be very, very beautiful.

General templates and some more lessons and examples

I think now you more or less understand how to make an envelope out of paper with your own hands, and my other examples of how to make an envelope for money are just inspirational speeches and various life hacks in this regard, because you got the main idea.

If the envelope for money for a wedding with your own hands is not very neat, wrap it with lace - it will hide the flaws and at the same time give the product a finished and festive look. A small envelope can be wrapped entirely, but a large envelope is better draped gracefully. By the way, wedding card usually large - so that toast can fit there. If you just want to attach a card to a gift, or a certain amount of money, then it is better to use a small congratulatory envelope.

If you are making an envelope from paper without glue, then support this idea in design - for example, fold several origami figures with your own hands and decorate an envelope for money with them on your birthday - for example, you can fold a flower, a heart or a crane, which represents a wish for happiness .

Don't want to sign the envelope manually? See how to make an envelope out of paper for money using word templates. You can download the money envelope template below. Choose your favorite templates.

There is another way - first you print wishes or an address on a printer, and then watch a master class on how to make an envelope from a sheet of the required format.

How to make a chic origami envelope out of paper? Take three or four sheets of paper for practice, and try to make your own beautiful envelope using this master class.

In general, do not hesitate to use Word to print diagrams - it is much easier than cutting them out. Word will also help you make a beautiful inscription for congratulations (and we don’t write too smoothly). If you use self-adhesive paper to print a Word file, you don’t even have to decorate a regular paper envelope with anything - you can download the simplest template and decorate it with stickers.

If you need a lot of envelopes for a holiday (for example, for wedding invitations), then it is better to use folded envelopes - this category of products looks very presentable, they are made quickly, and if you do not use glue, then the likelihood of spoiling something is much less.

Don’t forget that any master class needs to be watched and completed step by step - first watch it in full, and then repeat what the master does - first print it, then fold it, then glue it. This way you can get the same result as shown in the photo.

If you need to send a letter or greeting card, but you don’t have an envelope at hand, then you can easily make it yourself. In this article we offer you several in various ways How to make an envelope from plain white or beautiful wrapping paper.

Lesson #1

1: Take a sheet of A4 paper and fold it in half lengthwise. Then unfold it again - this way you will mark a fold.

2: Place the sheet vertically in front of you, fold the upper right corner towards the middle. Fold the upper left corner in the same way.

3: Measure 3.8 cm from the right edge of the sheet and fold it towards the middle. Do the same on the left side of the sheet.

4: Bend the bottom of the sheet so that the bottom edge coincides with the intersection point of the upper triangles with the curved sides (see picture), bend again.

5: Place the letter or card inside the envelope, placing it between the folded edges.

6: Close the envelope. To do this, fold the bottom part first, and then the top (so that the triangle-flap is located on top).

7: Using adhesive tape, glue the flap of the envelope, and also seal the sides with tape.

Method No. 2

1: Take a sheet of A4 paper and cut it to form a square.

2: Fold a square piece of paper in half diagonally, first in one direction, then in the other. Flatten the sheet again.

3: Rotate the sheet 45°. Fold the bottom corner towards the center of the sheet, then fold the bottom edge of the resulting shape along the central fold.

4: Now fold the left corner of the sheet towards the center so that the top of the triangle protrudes slightly beyond the middle of the sheet. Repeat the same on the right side.

5: Bend the tip of the right triangle so that the fold falls exactly in the middle of the part. Do not bend the corner completely - it should stick out vertically.

6: Use your finger to straighten the triangle to create a diamond shape with a “pocket” on top.

7: Fold the flap of the envelope and tuck the top of the triangle into the “pocket” of the diamond. Ready!

Master class No. 3

1: Take a sheet of A4 paper, write a letter or short message on it and fold it in half crosswise. Smooth out the fold and unfold the sheet again.

2: Fold the top right corner towards the fold in the middle of the sheet. Do the same with the lower left corner.

3: Fold the right edge of the sheet so that the cut coincides with the edge of the triangle folded in the second step. Then fold the left edge of the sheet in the same way (see picture).

4: Rotate the piece 90 degrees counterclockwise and fold the top right corner along the dotted line as shown in the picture. Its upper edge should coincide with the lower edge of the figure. In this case, bend the bottom fold and tuck the bent corner under it.

5: Repeat the same on the left side.

The envelope letter is ready!

Method No. 4

Another option for a gift envelope. It can be made from multi-colored gift paper:

1. Fold the sheet in half crosswise.

2. Bend the upper edge of the folded half of the sheet down so that the cut coincides with the lower edge of the part.

3. Then fold the flap in half again as shown in the picture. Fold it back again, just marking the fold.

4. Now fold the bottom edge to the resulting fold once, then again.

5. Fold the top edge of the sheet down towards the point marked in the figure.

6. Fold in the bottom right and left corners.

7. Fold the right and left edges of the part to a width equal to the width of the folded triangles.

8. Mark the folds along the dotted lines as shown in the figure.

And, these were also very interesting and easy crafts. For today's origami craft, we just need a sheet of paper, basically as usual. Homemade envelopes can be used for letters to loved ones, they can be beautifully decorated and given as a postcard for the holidays or something else. In general, we begin to make an envelope out of paper. As usual, there will be step-by-step photo instructions explaining important points.

We will have two types of paper envelopes:

Option one, a paper envelope with a pocket.

We take a sheet of paper, on it I wrote the address of my website, so that there would be no doubt about the authenticity of the photographs.

We bend one corner of the sheet so that the two edges join and form a square.

We tear off the excess part of the sheet and get the square we need.

We bend one corner so that this same corner does not extend to the other edge of the sheet for the paper envelope.

Now we bend one corner of the double sheet on the side. Yes, so that this corner would go beyond the corner bent for the first time, the one on top.

In the same way on the other side.

Now let's make a pocket small corner We bend the second folded part.

And we make a diamond out of it, as shown in the photo below.

We bend the upper part of the envelope and insert the corner into the pocket.

Now you know how to make an envelope with a pocket. Next is a way to make a regular envelope out of paper.

Option two, a regular paper envelope.

For this type we also need a sheet of paper; just like in the first version, we bend the corner and tear off the unnecessary part.

It turns out to be a square with folds along the diagonal, which we make ourselves.

We bend a corner on one side to the center line (diagonal).

Then on the other side is a corner.

Now we bend the bottom corner of our craft.

We fold the corner inward. This will make the envelope the most durable.

And at the end top part bend it. Then we put the letter there and seal it.

And the craft is ready! Now you know how to make an envelope from A4 paper with your own hands. Now you can share without problems. The main thing is to remember, follow step by step photo The instructions are exactly as I showed.

Of course, the easiest way is to buy envelopes at any post office. But sometimes situations arise when there is a need for self-production envelope. Perhaps you need custom packaging for gifts, money or greeting cards?

Purchased envelopes were almost never original. And if this is exactly what you need, then the best way out- This is to make an envelope from A4 paper with your own hands. In this case, the originality of the product depends solely on your imagination. But the recipient will certainly appreciate your skills and efforts, because, be that as it may, handmade always held in high esteem.

How to make an envelope from A4 paper

Stock up on white or wrapping paper, scissors and patience. Everything is not as difficult as it seems at first glance! The design of the envelope directly depends on the style of the gift and your personal preferences. Using vintage paper, chic congratulatory envelopes are designed, which can be additionally decorated with satin ribbons, antique stamps, beads or artificial flowers for solemnity.

A small ordinary envelope with your own hands

Now we will tell you how to make a small envelope with your own hands, which even a person far from needlework can handle. So, if time is pressing, and you need an envelope right now, use the following algorithm:

  1. Take a regular A4 sheet of paper and cut a square out of it.
  2. Bend it exactly in the middle, but just barely marking the fold.
  3. Fold the edge of the bottom sheet towards the center mark.
  4. Fold the side corners of the envelope so as to create vertical folds.
  5. Then bend the top corners, making sure that they are larger than the bottom ones.
  6. The result will be a triangle at the top, which must be folded so that the envelope can be closed.

A more complex option: how to make an envelope from A4 paper step by step instructions

A homemade envelope can be classified as the very basic level of origami science, which even children can master! It should be noted that a very small envelope is obtained from an A4 sheet, but most often there is no need for more. Accordingly, for a large envelope it is necessary to take large sheets of paper.

Stages of work:

  • bending one of the corners of the A4 sheet to the edge, we make a square, and cut off the remaining part and put it aside as unnecessary;
  • take the resulting square and bend it clearly diagonally, and turn the resulting triangle with its base in your direction;
  • bend the top of the triangle to the center of the base, after drawing a ruler to mark the exact place of the bend;
  • then we divide the diagonal into 3 parts, placing points;
  • We bend the right and left corners to certain marks, while fixing the folds with a pressed ruler;
  • bend the free corner to the previous fold line;
  • then we begin to form a pocket, for which a small triangle is placed vertically, and the pocket is opened in different directions using 2 fingers, fixing the deflections;
  • and on last stage bend the top of the envelope to insert the corner into the pocket. Everything is ready!

Do-it-yourself A4 paper envelope: a very simple way

This envelope option is considered one of the simplest. To do this, take an A4 sheet and mark, according to the diagram, 72 mm at the bottom left and at the top right. Then draw diagonals and cut off the excess paper. The result is a rhombus, which is the main part of our envelope.

The side corners should be folded towards the middle, and the bottom corner should be placed slightly higher than the side corners. It is very important not to forget to fix each bend using a flat object or a regular ruler.

Do-it-yourself envelope from A4 sheet: master class

Now we will describe another master class, with the help of which we will seal the information written on a sheet of paper in a beautiful and original envelope. To do this, perform the following manipulations:

  1. Take an A4 sheet of paper, write text on it and fold it straight across the middle.
  2. Lightly mark the center of the sheet and unfold it again.
  3. The upper right corner must be folded towards the middle of the sheet.
  4. Do similar manipulations with the lower left corner.
  5. Now the edge of the sheet on the right must be folded so that the edge of the triangle folded in step 3 coincides with the cut.
  6. Perform similar actions with the left edge of the sheet.
  7. Then you need to rotate the resulting part 90 degrees and bend the upper right corner along the dotted line. In this case, the edges of the figure should coincide. Perform similar manipulations on the left. The product is ready!

Envelope "soldier's triangle"

During the Second World War, it was not possible to use factory-made envelopes, so the soldiers made their own paper triangles on which they wrote the address. A similar skill can be useful in our time. So how to make such an unusual envelope from A4 paper?

Prepare the following tools in advance:

  • A4 sheet of paper;
  • scissors;
  • paper glue;
  • ruler;
  • simple pencil.

Are you interested in how to make an envelope from A4 paper? Step by step instructions will help you understand all the nuances:

  • cut a rectangle from an A4 piece of paper, then align the long side diagonally with one of the short sides;
  • when you bend the triangle formed as a result of previous manipulations, it should turn out to be isosceles and complemented by a paper strip;
  • take the edges of the strip and bend it to the base of the triangle;
  • the result is an envelope tab, which is tucked into the pocket at the top and the product is considered ready.

Envelope with a heart

Before work, you must prepare scissors, thick paper or cardboard measuring 300x300 mm, thin decorative paper, decorations in the form of beads or flowers and a satin ribbon.

Take cardboard and cut out a heart from it using a template. Using the same template, 1 cm from the top edge, make an outline on decorative thin paper, which is the basis for the envelope. Now we draw lines: horizontal, 120 mm from the top of the sheet, and the same, but lower, 100 mm from the first line.

At the points where 2 lines intersect (forming the outline and the bottom), draw two straight lines vertical type. All you have to do is cut out the heart and fold it along the drawn lines. At the very end, decorate the resulting product with a satin ribbon and beads. It’s great if the congratulations are written on the heart itself.

DIY CD envelope

Does it happen that you need to transport a disk with information, but there is no packaging at hand, or you want to present someone with a disk with memorable recordings? Now we will tell you how to make a simple CD sleeve.

You need to take an A4 sheet and place a disk in the center of its lower part, which serves as a guide and helps to avoid errors in size. Then fold the sides, and the disk should be folded up along with the paper, turning it to the other side.

All that remains is to wrap the top and make sure that the disc lies in the middle of the envelope. Now remove the disk from the paper blank and glue the internal components of the envelope. However, do not forget that there must be enough disk space left! The corners of the top part should be folded inside the envelope, and the lid should be placed in the pocket.

Is the form ready? Decorate it to your liking and don’t be afraid of flights of fancy! Your efforts will definitely be appreciated!
