There are also cool features for the user. You can go online, watch videos on YouTube, read the news, watch the weather, etc. But here you still need to calculate what is more profitable: buy a TV without Smart TV and an attachment to it, or overpay for Smart functions. Since a regular Android box can make your TV more SMART than a built-in system. But today is not about that.
Of all the TVs that have Smart TV features, many models come without a built-in Wi-Fi receiver. True, in 2017 almost all models already have a built-in receiver. And if you don’t connect the Internet to the TV, then all these Smart functions on it are simply useless. Yes, all models definitely have a LAN port that allows you to connect to the Internet via cable. But you must admit, this is very inconvenient. You need to lay a network cable from the router to the TV.
And all these Smart TVs that do not have a Wi-Fi module are another insidious plan of the manufacturers. After all, you could insert this wireless module and make the TV a couple of dollars more expensive. What for? If we can then sell branded Wi-Fi adapters for $100 each :) And even now these branded Wi-Fi adapters for Samsung, LG, Philips TVs are very difficult to find. They are simply not on sale. But there are TVs, and their users want to connect to the Internet via Wi-Fi.
If you have a Smart TV without built-in Wi-Fi, and you want to connect it to the Internet via a wireless network, then there are the following options:
- First, I advise you to look at the characteristics of your TV on the official website. Perhaps your TV still has Wi-Fi and can be connected to a wireless network. It might be useful: , and a separate one. If there is no built-in receiver, then you can look for and buy a branded external USB adapter.
- The second method is to buy a regular Wi-Fi adapter from D-Link, TP-Link, etc., and flash its firmware to work with the TV. Honestly, I can’t even imagine how all this is stitched and works, but I saw such information on the Internet. This is a method for those who are not looking for easy ways.
- Well, the third option, which I will talk about in more detail below in the article, is to buy a regular, inexpensive Wi-Fi router or a repeater and setting it up as an adapter for a TV without Wi-Fi.

Wi-Fi adapter from a router for Smart TV without a built-in Wi-Fi module
Everything is very simple. Almost all modern routers can operate in different modes: amplifier (repeater), access point, adapter, wireless bridge. I wrote about this in more detail in the article:. This scheme works something like this:
- We buy a router. Perhaps you have some old one. You can even have an inexpensive model. Totolink and Netis have good and budget options. Other manufacturers will also be suitable.
- We set it up in adapter mode. If there is such a mode, then the router will receive the Internet from your main Wi-Fi network and transmit it to the TV via a network cable. Bridge or network amplifier mode is also suitable. True, in this case the router will further strengthen your wireless network.
- We connect our Smart TV to the router via a network cable.
- The Internet on the TV works via Wi-Fi.

You can also use a regular adapter that has at least one LAN port. And it is available on almost all models.
What's the result: A router or repeater can be bought in almost every store. Compared to branded Wi-Fi receivers for LG, Samsung TVs, etc. And it will be cheaper this way (though it depends on which router you choose), since the price of original adapters is very high.

- If the connection is via PPPoE, PPTP, L2TP, then you cannot do without a WiFi router. But why do you need a cable if you use a Wi-Fi wireless network?
If, after all these attempts, your Samsung TV still does not connect to the Internet, either by static or dynamic IP address, this most likely means that your ISP is binding by Mac address.
Now try opening your TV settings again, go to technical support users. Find Product Information. Look, your TV's Mac address should be listed there. Most likely, the connection problem is due to connection mismatches in the Mac address.
After that, call your provider’s technical support and ask why your TV is not logged in for this Mac. They will probably change this address for you, after which the TV should begin to connect to the Internet without hindrance.

The situation often looks like this. You have a Wi-Fi router at home, and it distributes data to your desktop computer, smartphone, tablet, and whatever else you have. There are no problems anywhere. But, when you connected the TV, the settings show that there seems to be a router, but the Internet signal itself is not received. This means there is something wrong with the settings.
As usual, you need to start by trying to set up the TV correctly. Go to settings, look for Network connection. From the proposed list of options, select your connection type.

When connecting via a static IP address, you will need to manually set all parameters. You should have obtained all this data from your provider in advance.
If the Wi-Fi network has a subscription fee, then you must have access rights. In this case, the most common reason for the lack of connection is an incorrectly entered password.

Sometimes such a simple, almost magical trick is suggested to get around all the problems. Find out the IP address of your computer (which can connect to the Internet without any problems), assign the same address in the TV settings. It's easy to find out your IP. Now your Samsung will think that it is a computer and will begin to receive the Internet perfectly. However, this gambit only reliably solves the problem if you have a static IP address. If the IP is dynamic, then the next time you connect the IP address will also be different, everything will return to normal.
Most likely, the problems are inside the Wi-Fi router. First you need to try to create an entry point for the TV port. Open the router settings and make the necessary settings. If this doesn't help, it may be that your Wi-Fi wireless adapter is mismatched - you need an adapter for that model to connect to your Samsung. New TV models already have such an adapter. If it’s missing, you just need to find and buy it for your TV model.
The next problem is incompatible firmware. Or outdated. You need to try to reflash the router again.
If your Wi-Fi device supports WPS technology, then the situation is much simpler. Go to settings, find your network connection type. Select and enable WPS. After that, turn on the WPS button and hold it for two to three minutes. During this time, the wireless Internet connection must be made automatically.

Remember that in the settings menu there are tips that provide information about a particular section of the settings. Read them carefully and you will succeed.
Now you need to specify the connection type:
- WiFi.

Here we select the first option (may be called “Wireless connection”). Next, we need to start scanning for available connections. After starting, the TV will begin searching for networks and offer you a list. Here you need to select your router (the network name that you entered when setting up the router). If you did not change the name of the router, then by default the network will have a name that displays the device model, for example, TP-Link or Dir-615. If the connection is protected by a security key, enter it.

Each WiFi adapter has a unique physical address, and if you change it, the system will automatically close access to the Internet. If previously the Internet cable was connected to the Internet, and now you have connected it to the router, then you definitely need to call the provider’s support service and report this.
The operator will warn you that you need to register new address. The procedure takes no more than 7-10 minutes. After this, turn off the router for 7-10 minutes and turn it on again. Next, try accessing the Internet from the TV again.

Internet does not work on Smart TV when connected directly
If your provider uses Dynamic IP connection technology and does not use MAC address binding, then immediately after connecting the cable to the TV, the Internet should work.
If you connected the cable to the TV (a cable that comes not from the router, but from the Internet provider), and the Internet does not work, then most likely your provider uses Static IP, PPPoE, L2TP, or PPTP connection technology. And/or binds by MAC address.
Most The best way, is to call the provider's support and ask what technology they use and whether they do MAC binding. Or look on the official website of the provider.
- If technology Dynamic IP, then the Internet should work immediately after connecting the cable, without any settings (provided that there is no binding by MAC address).
- Technology Static IP– you can set this very static IP (which your provider should give you) in the network settings on your TV. I wrote in the article how to set these settings (using the example of an LG TV).
- If PPPoE, L2TP, or PPTP, then such a connection cannot be configured on the TV. At least on this moment (may not be on all TVs). But, as far as I know, it is impossible to establish such a connection on a TV. What to do in this case? You need to buy a router, set up an Internet connection on it, and from it you can distribute the Internet via cable or Wi-Fi to your TV and other devices. If the connection is via Dynamic IP or Static IP, but Internet on TV still doesn't work, that is, it is likely that the provider binds the Internet to the MAC address (you need to check this with him). What to do in this case?
Go to your TV settings and go to the tab Support – Inf. about the product. This is on LG TVs; if you have, say, Samsung, Sony, Philips, or another manufacturer, then these points may be slightly different. Look there MAC address.
Call the support of your Internet provider and ask to register a different MAC for your contract. Dictate your TV's MAC to them. Or, change MAC via Personal Area your provider, if possible. Everything should work.
