DIY paper notebook - master classes. How to make a notebook from paper with adhesive connection: a large notebook with your own hands without stitching

Before you start making your own notebook, decide on the choice of paper. Fortunately, there is now a very large and varied selection of paper ( different colors, density, glossy, etc.). I decided to make a notebook with my own hands using antique paper, as if it had lain for centuries.

We make a notebook with our own hands.

Take prepared A4 paper.

Cut it exactly in half (across the sheet).

We get a stack of sheets ready for the next stage of notebook making.

The same stack - top view.

Carefully fold the resulting sheets in half.

We now have a neat stack that we can now work with.

We press the sheets with clamps so that they are well compressed for further work on the notebook.

The same stack of sheets - top view.

After our pack has been well compressed (after about a day), we get a stack like this.

Then we make blocks. We take 5 sheets and put them inside each other. We carry out this procedure with all the sheets that we have made.

We lay out the blocks in a more or less aesthetically beautiful order and number them so as not to confuse them later.

All the blocks that I got.

Now take a ruler with a pencil and inseam blocks we put dots. This way we mark the places where the sheets will be sewn together. For my notebook, I retreat 1.5 cm from each edge, and make the remaining holes in 2 cm increments. We take an awl and pierce the blocks at the marked points. Under the bottom I placed regular packaging cardboard (from a refrigerator or other equipment) so as not to dull the awl.

Here is the finished stack that we need to sew.

We take a long thread (my notebook took about 2-3 meters), and sew the blocks of our notebook into a single whole. I used the Coptic binding technique. I like this technique the most because of the beauty and quality of stitching. In terms of quality, it is unlikely that any other technique will be able to compare with this long-established system of notepad stitching.

You can see it in another article.

This is what the whole block looks like.

We coat the seams with super or PVA glue to make them more durable and of higher quality.

While the glue dries, we'll make a hiding place for our notebook. We will hide various things there, for example money =). To do this, I took apart my wife’s old bag and took out 2 magnets that will hold the lid of our stash in the notebook. Then I took a piece of thick cardboard and marked with a pencil the places where my round magnets would stand.

Using a knife or thin scissors, cut holes for the upper parts of the magnet. Then we glue these parts into cardboard. I glued the part where the “service parts” of the upper magnet stick out with another sheet of cardboard.

We insert a sheet of cardboard with magnets between the pages of the notebook, in the place where we marked the “lid” of the cache. And then we simply glue several sheets of notepad to the cardboard, not forgetting to cut holes for the already attached upper parts of the magnets.

In the next step, we take 2 pieces of cardboard and try them on to the parts of the magnet already attached to the notebook. Mark and glue the remaining parts of the magnet holders.

Then we attach the cardboard with the lower parts of the magnet between the sheets of notepad as shown in the figure.

We glue the sheets together to create the shell of the cache. I’ll say right away that the work is very boring and routine, but we are not timid. Turn on the music louder and get into the fight.

Finally, it was time to mark the contours of the hiding place and start cutting out the hole.

After some time (there were a lot of sheets and they stuck together well), I got this square hole. Then I will cover this hole with a sheet of paper on the outside and glue it to the back endpaper of the cover.

Now it's time to start working on the cover. I will make an Ankh cross on the outside of the notebook. To do this, I drew a silhouette template with the cross itself and carefully cut it out.

Then I placed the sample on thick cardboard and cut out a blank that will be attached to the notepad itself.

We repeat this action until we create such silhouettes to achieve the thickness we need.

After that, we glue the whole thing together and get a ready-made cross.

From sheets of thick cardboard, cut out 2 rectangles to fit the size of the cover.

We take one of the sheets of cardboard (the one you like best) and glue our cross Ankh to it.

I found my old one in some bins leather jacket and cut out a piece of leather for the cover. I spread the leather on the board and placed all the parts of the cover: 2 endpapers and 1 for the spine.

And here is our hiding place for money =)

Notebook for Turgenev's young lady

You can try making a gift using the scrapbooking technique that is popular today. A DIY notepad master class will help you with this.

Materials for work

  • cardboard for the cover;
  • glue and double-sided tape;
  • scrapbooking paper;
  • bandage and cotton fabric;
  • threads, needle and awl;

Stages of work

  1. We bend all the sheets of paper in half and cut them along the fold line. Then we bend the cut sheets in half again.
  2. Place the leaves in piles of five. Departing from the fold line by 1.5 cm, we make holes in each sheet with an awl. There should be about seven punctures in total. We sew the sheets together, starting from the outside. We secure the beginning and end of the thread with a knot.
  3. We stack the stitched stacks on top of each other and begin gluing them together. Carefully apply a strip of glue to one stack, then press it with the second, and so on until all the sheets are fastened. You need to make sure that they lie flat. For strength, press each layer for 4 - 5 seconds. Cover the spine with a bandage or cotton cloth. We now have the basis for a notebook.
  4. Now we need to make the cover. We take colored cardboard, its size should be 26 x 17 cm. From another cardboard, cut out two identical rectangles measuring 15 x 10.5 cm and one strip 15 cm long and 1.2 cm wide. Then glue all the rectangles to large sheet cardboard, departing from the edges by about 1 cm.
  5. We make cuts on each corner of the cover and glue its edges to the cardboard. At this stage, you can make a bookmark and attach it. We bend and unbend the finished cover several times.
  6. Choose decorative paper that suits the style. Since we are making a notebook for a girl, scrapbooking paper in delicate pink or lilac shades is suitable for us. Cut out two rectangles for the endpapers of the notebook and glue them.
  7. Decorate the front of the notebook to your liking using paper, ribbons, lace and beads.

An original gift for a friend is ready! By choosing paper of a different style and color, you will get a completely different result.

Notepad in vintage style

Retro style is very popular in lately. This can be attributed not only to films, songs or clothing design, but also to things made with one’s own hands. Notebooks, vintage-style photos, artificially aged albums - all this can become a stylish and original souvenir.

Materials for work

  • 20 sheets of white A4 paper;
  • cardboard for the cover;
  • Moment glue and double-sided tape;
  • scissors, a simple pencil, a ruler, a stationery knife;
  • sewing machine;
  • beautiful fabric for the cover (patchwork fabric is ideal);
  • thin foam rubber or synthetic winterizer;
  • brown ink for scrapbooking;
  • decorative elements (beads, beads, ribbons, lace, rhinestones);
  • a mat or film to protect the work surface.

Stages of work

  1. Since we plan to do the work in a vintage style, we first need to age the paper. This can be done using regular black tea or coffee. Coffee will give the paper more depth. rich color. Prepare the solution: place two tablespoons in a bowl of hot water instant coffee, stir and drop the leaves into it one by one. The longer you keep the sheets in coffee, the darker they will become. When you are satisfied with the result, begin to carefully remove the paper (it can tear easily). We leave it to dry. When it is completely dry, you can slightly emphasize its age by sprinkling it with coffee solution. This is done using a brush. Once the paper has dried, it should be ironed.
  2. We bend each sheet in half and put them inside each other, three at a time. We will get mini-notebooks of six sheets each. Using paper clips, secure the sheets and stitch them in the middle. To do this, it is convenient to use a sewing machine. Even if you have no experience with this tool, you can easily cope with the task. You just need to sew a straight line. If you don’t have a machine, take a needle and sew the sheets on your hands.
  3. Then you need to glue the notebooks together. In order for the notepad blocks to fit better and not bulge, the stitched edges need to be ironed with a ruler. We prepare two cardboard rectangles, they should be a few millimeters smaller than the sheets (so the glue can penetrate between the sheets and glue them well). Using clamps, we secure the cardboards and apply Moment glue to the spine. Then rub the spread glue into the binding. Let the notepad dry for at least 12 hours.
  4. While the product is drying, you can work on the cover. It is necessary to measure the width and height of the notebook, the width of its spine. We cut out the cover using these dimensions (two rectangles for the front and back and one narrow strip for the spine).
  5. Now we make a rough cover from waste paper. It should be one and a half to two centimeters larger so that you can wrap it. We cut the corners diagonally and fold over the excess paper and glue it.
  6. If you want to make a soft cover for a notebook, cover it with a thin layer of padding polyester or foam rubber. Then we proceed to covering the product with fabric. It is convenient to first glue the fabric to the corners, and only then to the sides. We decorate the cover with lace and other aged elements: beads imitating pearls, retro cards or photographs, vintage flowers.
  7. If the block is dry, continue working. We glue gauze to the spine so that the notebook opens well. If you want to make bookmarks, you need to glue them in at this stage.
  8. Carefully coat the spine with glue, attach it to the cover and leave to dry for a day.
  9. All that remains is to make endpapers from paper, which can also be decorated to your liking. Use brown scrapbooking ink to add a vintage flair to your pages.

Wonderful original gift, keeping the warmth of your hands, is ready! It will help bring a touch of positivity into drab work days and give your to a loved one good mood. You can glean interesting ideas making a notepad with your own hands on video.

Today this artistic direction, like scrapbooking (making notebooks, albums and notepads with your own hands), is very popular. A handmade item will be truly exclusive, but not everyone knows how to make a notebook original. To do this you will need available materials and, of course, imagination.

How to make a notebook with your own hands?

To make a notebook or notebook colorful and visually attractive, you need to acquire:

  • paper different types(multi-colored, corrugated, velvet, etc.);
  • means of drawing images (pencils, paints, markers, pens);
  • decorative elements (rhinestones, artificial flowers, buttons, sparkles, etc.);
  • stamps, decorative braid, figured hole punches, embossing machine.

The main part of the work is done quite easily. You need to take six sheets of A4 paper (the amount of paper may vary) and fold it in half. All sheets are inserted into each other and thus a blank is obtained on which the cover is placed. It is necessary to make through holes along the fold line sewing needle, they should be 3 cm higher than the edges. Each pair of holes is indented 1 cm (as on a factory notebook). The sheets are fastened using two staplers and several pieces of thin wire. Next, the sheets are cut to fit the cover.

How to make a cover for a notebook?

If the notebook is designed with a tight binding, cardboard is suitable for the main part of the cover, which can be covered with decorative fabric or pasted over with any other decorative materials. To make a fabric cover you will need linen fabric, bright fabric scraps for decoration, lining material (you can use thin foam rubber) and a ribbon of any size for a bookmark.

You can also make a cover without using fabric materials. To do this, it is enough to have a solid foundation, decorative materials and glue. For example, in the middle you can make a three-dimensional pattern of artificial flowers and beads, and along the edges of the butterflies from velvety cardboard and glitter.

How to make a Death Note?

To make such a notebook, you need to have such available materials and tools as:

  • black printer paper; - original design of the Death Note cover;
  • 24-sheet lined notebook;
  • double-sided tape or glue.

To begin with, print out the cover of the notebook on the printer so that on the sheet in vertical position the inscription was on the left edge. After folding the cover onto an A4 sheet, you will get a regular notebook format. The printed and correctly cut out cover is glued to the base of the notebook.

How to make a beautiful death note? To do this, you need to take two halves of a black sheet and glue them to the first and second endpapers of the notebook. It is better to do this before gluing the cover itself. Please note that the edges of the notebook should not have a rounded appearance.

Gluing the cover with double-sided tape is much more convenient. One side of it is glued to the base, the other to the decorative cover. Theoretically, you can make a notebook from almost any suitable material. For pages, you can take thin printer paper or, conversely, thick landscape sheets. You can also make an ornament from anything you can get your hands on, be it old buttons, scraps of fabric, or even cereal.

A notepad is a very useful gift! But it’s so difficult to choose it depending on your preferences, so it’s easier to make it yourself. In this article you will find detailed master class, thanks to which you will learn how to sew a notebook from paper and leather.

How to make a notebook with your own hands - materials

The main material for the pages of the notebook will be office paper. Choose it not too thin, otherwise the sheets will not be able to hold their shape. Also, do not buy thick paper, it will be difficult to leaf through.

The notebook can have any cover, but give preference to such a practical material as leather. The rest of the decor is only at your request.

Additionally, prepare the following materials:

  • genuine leather measuring 23 cm by 30 cm;
  • 2 sheets of cardboard (15 cm by 21 cm);
  • wide double-sided tape;
  • strong threads, thick cord to match the sheets;
  • leather needle, scissors, ruler;
  • pencil, knife, stationery clips;
  • silicone based sealant;
  • super glue, padding polyester for the cover;
  • foam sponge;
  • ribbon for bookmarks;
  • ribbon hanger;
  • decorative lock and keys.

How to make a notebook with your own hands - progress of work

  • Prepare pages for your diary. Each sheet in it is in A5 format with a zebra. To do this, print the lines and dates on both sides on A4 office paper.
  • Fold the sheets in the middle and arrange them by date, forming a notebook of 7-8 sheets.

  • Use a ruler to press the fold line on each piece so that it holds its shape better.

  • Collect each batch of sheets into a bundle.

  • This stack needs to be compressed well. To do this, place cardboard on top and bottom and secure with a paper clip. This way the cardboard will not allow the sheets to wrinkle under pressure.

  • While the sheets are being pressed, prepare the cover. Cut two pieces of cardboard to the size of your future diary. For the spine of the notebook, use cardboard in the shape of a rectangle, but only twice as narrow as for the cover. Make longitudinal stripes on it, while pushing the lines well with the sharp end of the scissors. This will make the cardboard more flexible.

  • Glue the spine to the two parts of the cover.
  • Now cover the cardboard with padding polyester from the front side.

  • Place the skin with the back side up on the table. Place the blank for the cover on it with padding polyester on the bottom.

  • Glue double-sided tape to the corners of the cardboard and fold the corners of the leather inward.

  • Then glue the remaining edges of the leather in the same way. Leave the skin to take the desired shape.

  • While the leather is leveling, make the strap and latch. This step can be omitted if you want to make a regular diary. But with a lock, the diary will look more original!
  • Cut a strip of leather 6 cm wide and longer than the spine of the notebook. Prepare a strip of cardboard 3 cm wide and slightly shorter than a strip of leather. Wrap it in leather.
  • Glue one part of such a strip (on the back side) to the notebook in any way convenient for you.

  • On the front side, attach the first part for the padlock (with the strap). Secure the second one to the notepad itself.

  • Now you need to sew a block of sheets. Rearrange the clamps. Along the fold lines, draw stripes at a distance of 3 cm from each other.

  • Make shallow cuts along each line, cutting through each sheet.
  • Then remove the clamps and take a long thread and two strips of thick fabric.

  • Sew each notebook of 8 sheets along the fold, laying fabric in the middle between the stitches.

  • Assemble all the parts of the notebook, gradually sewing them together.
  • Place the fabric in the middle stitches and sew it to the sheets.

  • Now glue all the parts together with sealant. Coat the gaps between the folds of the sheets well. Don't cut the fabric! Leave the product to dry thoroughly.

  • For endpapers, use paper with any design. Cut two sheets of cardboard or thick paper to the size of your diary. Bend one edge by 0.5 - 1 cm and glue it to the two sides of the stitched sheets.
  • On the outside, fasten the fabric, the ends of which remain after stitching.

  • Take a printed picture (A4 format), bend it in half and secure it between the cardboard. Apply glue to the entire surface of the paper. Press well with a sponge to avoid bubbles on it.

  • Cut the endpaper to the size of the cover and glue them together.
  • Decorate the corners of the diary with iron fittings - this way they will wear out less during use. On the front side, write the owner's name in gold paint.

  • All that's left is to glue on a nice cord that will serve as a bookmark.

Now you can make an original gift yourself that will decorate not only your office desk, but also retain a piece of your warmth.

To learn how to make a notebook out of paper without stitching, watch the video:

As you know, the role of notebooks in our lives is very significant. We write in them important dates and events, passwords and addresses, meetings and telephone numbers. If we buy a beautiful, original notebook, we immediately get excited about filling it with unusual text: poems, quotes, etc. However, you can do it yourself. It can be big, or it can be small.

Let's try to make a miniature notebook with our own hands. And once you have mastered the technique of making it, you can make a standard size notebook.

We will need the following materials:

1. Cardboard;
2. Notebook sheets;
3. Fabric (any dense);
4. Scissors;
5. Stationery knife;
6. Ruler;
7. Pencil;
8. PVA glue (however, if available, it is better to use quick-drying glue);
9. Needle;
10. Thread (white);
11. Paper clips (optional).

So let's get started:

1. The first thing we do is cut out the middle of each sheet. We won't need any red fields or a curved part.

2. Regarding the size, we will be guided by the cells. The width of the turn (i.e. without bending) should be 12 squares. Thus, when we fold the sheet, the width of one page will be 6 cells.

4. Cut it out. Ours will consist of spreads like this, where one page will be 6x6 cm.

5. Fold one into one, 4 spreads each. And put it under a press (book, etc.).

6. After we have taken out the spreads, we can fasten them with paper clips so that the sheets do not “walk” when stitching. But before that, be sure to make sure that the edges of the sheets are smooth and match each other.

7. We make 4 holes in the middle of the spreads and sew the sheets through them with thread. Thus, in the inner part we will see 2 short threads.

8. This is what it looks like back side. We folded all the spreads, aligned them and now measure the entire width of the back.

9. We cut out dense fabric relative to this width. IN in this case its size turned out to be 0.7 mm wide and 3 cm high.

10. Glue it onto the stitched part of the future notebook. We wait until the glue is completely dry.

11. To complete we will need cardboard. We add 1 mm as a reserve and the cover of our book will be 3.1X3.1 cm, where the side of the sheets is 0.8 mm. Fold as in the photo and attach the sheets.

12. Be careful during the process and wait until the glue is completely dry.

The miniature is ready. It can be used as a keychain by purchasing special mounts. And if you are worried about losing phone numbers, write them down in your pocket book.
