I had to leave a statement and be sad that the test drive didn’t take place. Feeling sad, we began to think about what could have gone wrong.

Since you can pay using iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch only in terminals that support pay-pass technology, and our card does not support such a function, we assumed that this might be the reason. And they called the bank again. The employee who answered the phone said it didn't matter. He suggested checking which number the card is linked to and trying again. But this was not required. Suddenly, a message with a one-time password suddenly arrived, and we were able to attach the card to Apple Pay.

The next step is to find out how the service works in practice. To avoid walking far, we went down to a coffee shop on the first floor of our office center. We ordered coffee to go, and when asked by the cashier: “Should we pay in cash or by card?”, we proudly answered that we would pay by phone. Although this surprised the cafe employee, it wasn’t much.

How safe is it

When you add a card to Apple Pay, the system creates a unique 16-digit number called a token, which is stored on the phone, allowing you to pay for purchases with the device. Even if the phone is lost, no one except the owner will be able to use the payment, since identification is done using a fingerprint.

However, if someone attaches someone else’s card to their phone, the only way to prevent them from paying for purchases with it is to block the card. In our case, information about the debiting of money from my card was received only by Sasha. I didn't receive any SMS on my phone.
