The match between Australia and American Samoa, which ended with a score of 31:0 in favor of the former, still remains a record defeat in the history of international meetings.
At the same time, Samoan players were unable to bring the main team due to problems with passports. Moreover, many football players from the youth team were also unable to come due to the fact that they were taking school exams at that moment. As a result, the already weakest team in the FIFA rankings sent 15-year-old juniors to the game, most of whom had never played a 90-minute match.
The result of all this group abuse was a clear initiative by the Australians to join the more competitive Asian Confederation, and the International Football Federation considered the return of a preliminary qualifying tournament for the dwarf teams of the Oceania Confederation Football.
“Ilinden” - “Mladost” - 134:1 and “Debartsa” - “Gradinar” - 88:0 (1979)
Before the final round of one of the regional championships at the village level in Yugoslavia, two clubs claimed victory - “Ilinden” and “Debarca”. The latter were in first place due to the better goal difference and tried to bribe Ilinden’s opponent in the last round in order to disrupt the game and organize a “techie” 0:3. The bribe takers themselves have already agreed with their opponents in the final game that they will open their gates as many times as necessary. The comical thing about the situation was that the people from Iliden were well aware of all these tricks and outbid those who were going to drain them, in particular by fitting their president with a brand new car.
Just in case, delaying the start of their game as much as possible (there were no cell phones then), the Debartsy players began to load the scoreboard with numbers, but by the break they learned that on the other field everything was turning out completely differently. There, Iliden was already leading with a much larger score. The rapid fire race has begun. Someone managed to distinguish himself 58 times on the sly. At the very end of the farce, the Debartsy players realized that their 57:0 score was clearly not enough for the championship - after the final whistle, the opponents managed to score 134:1 (the prestige goal must have been a bonus to the car). The judge understandingly “compensated” for “Debartse” for about 30 minutes, during which the balls flew into the net as if from a machine gun. The action, interrupted by a call from the country's federation, ended at 88:0. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough for the championship. But it was enough for a one-year disqualification of all participants circus performance, disbandment of clubs and lifelong excommunication from refereeing the referee who discovered the way to control time.
The biggest fiasco in officially recognized matches is considered to be the result of the match between the clubs from Madagascar “Adema” and “Stade Olympique L’Emirne” (149:0), listed in the Guinness Book of Records.
Arbroath - Bon Accord - 36:0 (1885)
The teams met on September 12, back in 1885, in the first round of the Scottish Cup. “Arbroath” from the city of the same name had existed for seven years at that time, but even this advantage in experience turned out to be too much for the one-year-old “Bon Accord” from Aberdeen. Legend has it that the latter's players arrived at the match without football equipment, that their goalkeeper never touched the ball during the match, threw the goal, sheltering from the rain under the canopy of the stands, and was generally a center forward, replacing the real goalkeeper due to the absence of the real goalkeeper. It’s funny, but true: on the same day, 30 kilometers away in Dundee, another Cup match took place, which ended with the score... 35:0. The referee in that match allegedly lost count and, in agreement with the inspector, discarded two winning goals, which he later regretted. The defender of the winning team, a former Arbroath player, convinced the bosses to send a telegram to his ex-comrades about the unusual result, but they received a response saying that they were unable to surprise the recipients with such a result. Both sides laughed well at the messages - each believed that it was being played.
The result of the event was the establishment of the so-called qualifying Cup, eliminating teams like Bon Accord. The game is still regarded by many as a world record, since it is officially recognized and did not have a contractual or intentionally lost nature.
Adema - Stade Olympique L'Emirne - 149:0 (2002)
However, the biggest defeat in officially recognized matches is still considered to be the result of a fight between two Madagascar teams, even listed in the Guinness Book of Records. However, the “duel” in in this case would be too strong a word. The team, judging by the score, has been dismantled into the smallest known modern science particles of matter, in fact, was the favorite of the championship. However, the club's chances for first place in the penultimate round were buried by the referee, who awarded an extremely controversial penalty against them at the end of the match, which led to a 2:2 draw. In the last round, SOE had to play against Adema, which had already taken first place, and as a protest, the victims decided to score as many goals as possible... into their own goal. It turned out to be 149. SOE coach Zak Be was suspended from football for three years.
