Preparing for the State Examination in Chemistry

Unified State Exam-11 - 2019

Chemistry illuminated me with the greatest pleasure of learning the still unsolved secrets of nature... And I am sure that not one of those who becomes interested in chemistry will regret choosing this science as their specialty.

(N.D. Zelinsky)

When it's time for school exams (USE), everyone worries: students, teachers, parents. Everyone is interested in the question: how to pass exams more successfully? It must be said that success depends on many factors, including students, teachers and parents.

The Unified State Exam is an independent objective state control of learning outcomes.

The Unified State Exam provides equal opportunities for graduates of different regions and different types of schools to enter universities in the Russian Federation.

Unified State Examination - allows all graduates to submit documents to several universities at once or to one for different specialties (according to latest decisions Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation - to no more than five universities or in no more than five specialties), which undoubtedly increases applicants’ chances of admission.

OGE-9 - 2019

OGE (GIA) in chemistry- an optional exam, and one of the difficult ones. It is not worth choosing it thinking that the exam is easy. It is necessary to choose the State Examination in Chemistry if you plan to take the Unified State Exam in this subject in the future; this will help you test your knowledge and better prepare for the unified exam in two years. Also, the GIA in chemistry is often required for admission to medical colleges.

The structure of the State Academic Examination in Chemistry is as follows:
Part 1:
15 general theoretical questions, with four possible answers, of which only one is correct and 4 questions involving multiple choice of answers or finding a match;
Part 2: in it the student must write down a detailed solution to 3 problems.

Matching points GIA (without real experiment) school grades following:

0-8 points – 2;

9-17 points – 3;

18-26 points – 4;

27-34 points – 5.

FIPI recommendations for assessing the work of the OGE (GIA) in chemistry: 27-34 points deserve only those works in which the student received no less than 5 points for solving problems from part 2, this, in turn, presupposes the completion of at least 2 tasks. One task is worth 4 points, the other two are worth three points.

The greatest difficulties are, of course, caused by tasks. It is in them that one can easily get confused. Therefore, if you plan to get those same 27-34 points for the OGE (GIA) in chemistry, then you need to solve the problems. For example, one task per day.

Duration of the State Examination in chemistry is only 120 minutes.

During the exam, the student can use:

  • periodic table,
  • electrochemical series metal stresses,
  • table of solubility of chemical compounds in water.
  • The use of a non-programmable calculator is permitted.

The OGE (GIA) in chemistry enjoys a well-deserved reputation as one of the most difficult exams. You need to start preparing for it from the very beginning of the school year.

Instructions for performing the work

The examination paper consists of two parts, including 22 tasks.

Part 1 contains 19 short-answer tasks, part 2 contains 3 (4) long-answer tasks.

For execution exam paper 2 hours (120 minutes) (140 minutes) are allotted.

Answers to tasks 1–15 are written as one number, which corresponds to the number of the correct answer. Write this number in the answer field in the text of the work.

Answers to tasks 16–19 are written as a sequence of numbers in the answer field in the text of the work.

If you write down an incorrect answer to the tasks in Part 1, cross it out and write a new one next to it.

For tasks 20–22, you should give a complete, detailed answer, including the necessary reaction equations and calculations. Assignments are completed on a separate sheet. Task 23 involves performing an experiment under the supervision of an expert examiner. To be completed of this assignment You can start no earlier than 1 hour (60 minutes) after the start of the exam.

When performing work, you can use the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements D.I. Mendeleev, a table of solubility of salts, acids and bases in water, an electrochemical series of metal voltages and a non-programmable calculator.

When completing assignments, you can use a draft. Entries in the draft are not taken into account when grading work.

The points you receive for completed tasks are summed up. Try to complete as many tasks as possible and gain greatest number points.

State (final) certification
9th grade graduates

State (final) certification of graduates of IX grades has been tested since 2006 new form an independent system for assessing the quality of education of 9th grade graduates.
The form of the CMMs used and the organization of certification is reminiscent of the Unified State Exam. But since, unlike the Unified State Examination, it is not a federal commission that operates, but a local, municipal one, the small Unified State Examination is also called the Unified Municipal Examination.

Test materials

The FIPI website has published documents regulating the development of CMMs for certification of 9th grade students: codifiers, specifications, demo versions. Based on these documents, working versions of CMMs are developed at the regional level for certification.

The structure of CMM in chemistry, described in the specification, consists of three parts and includes tasks:
A (choose one answer out of four),
B (short answer: multiple choice, matching),
C (long answer).

Contents of certification tasks in chemistry

The content of CMM is determined on the basis of documents:
- Mandatory minimum content of basic general education in chemistry (Order of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation No. 1236 of May 19, 1998).
- Federal component of state standards for basic general and secondary (complete) general education in chemistry (Order of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation No. 1089 of 03/05/2004).

When preparing for the exam paper, you can use all sets of chemistry textbooks for primary schools that are certified by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. To prepare for the Small Unified State Exam, you can use variants of the Large Unified State Exam tasks, crossing out those tasks that are not included in the standard of the basic school.

Open bank of tasks for State Academic Examination of 9th grade in chemistry

Open bank GIA assignments for grade 9 in chemistry began to be formed on the FIPI website in October 2014 and currently contains exam assignments from previous years. All tasks are distributed across the main five blocks of the GIA codifier: (1) Substance; (2) Chemical reaction; (3) Elementary fundamentals of inorganic chemistry. Ideas about organic substances; (4) Methods of knowledge of substances and chemical phenomena. Experimental Fundamentals of Chemistry; (5) Chemistry and life

In the future, it is planned to open a presentation of tasks for specific codifier positions.

An open task bank allows you to get acquainted with the tasks of each individual block, select a selection of tasks from the block and open it in a separate window, print this selection or, through the print functionality, save it in *.pdf format on your computer.

Answers to assignments are not provided.

Features of CMM

In 2014, 2 models of examination work in chemistry are offered to the choice of educational authorities of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation.
- Demovesia-1: the structure is similar to the work of 2013. However, significant changes have been made to the content of part C:- Task C1 provides for the arrangement of coefficients in the OVR using the electronic balance method (similar to C1 of the Unified State Exam, using simpler reactions). Evaluated at three primary points.- Task C2 - calculation problem (similar to C2 of previous years). Evaluated at three primary points.- Task C3 - mentalexperiment: for a given set of substances, plan a two-stage synthesis of a new substance by writing reaction equations and indicating the signs of their occurrence. Write the ionic equation for one of the reactions. Scores five primary points.The maximum primary score for completing part C increased to 11 points, for completing the entire work - to 34 points. - Demovesia-2: the practice-oriented component has been strengthened, and therefore the examination paper includes a task for performing a real chemical experiment (C4). Task C4 is a continuation of task C3, which is assessed at in this case 4 points, maximum score for task C4 - 5 points, total score for part C - 15 points.The chemical experiment is carried out in a special room - chemical laboratory(a list of equipment and reagents is given in the specification).To observe the conduct of a chemical experiment, chemists who are also experts in assessing its implementation must be invited.An additional 20 minutes are allocated for the chemical experiment. To organize an exam according to the second model, the following can be used: Methodological materials on organizing and conducting a student chemical experiment within the framework of the state (totalhowl) certification (GIA) 2014 of IX grade graduates in chemistry. /Kaverina A.A., Dobrotin D.Yu., Molchanova G.N. – Federal State Budgetary Institution “Federal Institutet of pedagogical measurements", - M, 2013. The OGE in chemistry is taken only at the student’s choice; this test is not included in the list of mandatory ones. Chemistry is chosen by students who, after 9th grade, plan to enter a specialized 10th grade school or a specialized college or technical school. To enter medical school, you need to take not only chemistry, but also biology. The exam implies orientation in theory and successful application of it in practice. The test taker needs to solve many tasks of different difficulty levels from a wide range of topics. To decide which topics to pay attention to, read the OGE preparation program in chemistry.

The exam consists of tasks, which are divided into two logical blocks:

  • The first part includes tasks on knowledge of theory: here you need to give a short answer - a number, a sequence of numbers, a word.
  • In the second part there are several questions to which you need to give detailed, complete answers, conduct a laboratory experiment, write conclusions, and perform calculations. It is extremely important to be able to use special equipment and use algorithms for solving problems different levels complexity.
In 2018, the minimum threshold was 9 points - this is the minimum that will allow you to receive a minimum grade and certificate.
During the exam, the test taker has tips: tables of solubility of salts, acids, bases in water, periodic table of Mendeleev, tables of metal stresses. Provided you know how to use these materials, you can solve many tasks without difficulty.

  • The main advice that is relevant for every exam is to plan your study. Without a clear plan you will not be able to achieve high level preparation. To make your planning as efficient as possible, check out– it indicates topics and sections to which you need to pay special attention.
  • Assess your strengths: the easiest way is online testing. After passing the test, you receive the result and can evaluate which types of tasks and topics cause you the most difficulty.
  • Once you have identified problematic topics, give them more attention than others. For training, take textbooks and reference books.
  • Be sure to solve problems! The more problems you solve to prepare, the easier it will be in the exam.
  • Ask questions: find a specialist who can help you in problematic situations. This could be a tutor or school teacher. Only a specialist can help you analyze your mistakes and not make them again.
  • Learn to use hints - those tables that you can take with you to the exam.
  • Studying theory is not enough; it is very important to practice performing tests. This form of knowledge testing causes difficulties for many, especially if it was not used in lessons. Solve more test tasks different types so that during the exam they do not cause fear and misunderstanding.
  • “Solving the OGE in Chemistry” will help you prepare for the exam and pass it successfully, using the allotted time rationally and without stress.

The 2019 state final certification in chemistry for 9th grade graduates of general education institutions is carried out to assess the level of general education training of graduates in this discipline. The tasks test knowledge of the following sections of chemistry:
