Vasiliev Ivan Vladimirovich. Ballet couples Ballet dancer Ivan Vasiliev

Today, the soloist of the Bolshoi and Mikhailovsky theaters, Ivan Vladimirovich Vasiliev, despite his youth, is known throughout the world. Every day there is a new achievement, and all thanks to hard work and determination. However, 2015 was truly a landmark year for him. He married his scene partner, incredible beautiful ballerina Maria Vinogradova, and also made his debut as a choreographer, staging his first performance “Ballet No. 1” in the Barvikha Luxury Village hall. In this article we will tell you about early period life, about becoming a ballet dancer and about what kind of person the talented dancer and choreographer Ivan Vasiliev is off the stage.

Biography

The future star of the Bolshoi and St. Petersburg Mikhailovsky Theaters was born in the village of Tavrichanka (Primorsky Territory), in a family that had nothing to do with art. His father, Vladimir Viktorovich Vasiliev, by the way, is the full namesake of the famous prime minister Bolshoi Theater 60-70, was a military officer, and his mother did not work anywhere, remaining his faithful companion, who followed him everywhere, from one republic to another, from military unit to unit, ran the household and raised their sons. When Vanya was 4 years old, the family moved to Ukraine, Dnepropetrovsk. Soon after this, my mother decided to send her eldest son to a children's folk ensemble. Vanya was still very young, but he liked it so much in the dance hall, and he began to do such things there that the leader of the ensemble became interested in the musical and flexible little one, and decided to make an exception for him, accepting him and his older brother into the group.

Introduction to ballet

It so happened in the life of a dancer that no matter where Ivan Vasiliev studied, he always found himself a couple of years younger than his classmates. At the age of 7, the boy and his mother went to ballet for the first time. Throughout the entire performance, he did not utter a word and only his enthusiastically sparkling eyes spoke better than any words about what was going on in his soul. He left the theater completely in love with this view. high art. At home, he began to ask his parents to send him to ballet school. It was not easy for the military man to get used to the idea that his son wanted to connect his life with such a “non-male” occupation. However, the mother managed to convince the father that their son was probably born just for this, and the father gave in. Soon, Ivan Vasiliev was on the list of those admitted to the first class of the Dnepropetrovsk choreographic school. From that moment on, ballet became an integral part of his life. The boy did not particularly stand out for his physical characteristics; on the contrary, some choreographers thought that with this type of figure, not at all slender and short legs (the main “tool” of a dancer), he would not be able to achieve great heights in this type of dance art, but time has shown that they were wrong. In the meantime, the boy surprised everyone with his efficiency, incredible energy and determination.

Education

Then fate brought the family of the future soloist of the best theaters of the country to the Republic of Belarus, and here Ivan Vladimirovich Vasiliev entered the Belarusian State Choreographic College, where he began to study classical ballet under the direction of Honored Worker of the Republic of Belarus, choreographer A. Kolyadenko. By the way, despite his young age (12 years old), Vanya was accepted immediately into the 3rd year, because during the entrance exam he began to perform such complex elements that they began to teach in college only towards the end of the second year. Soon he was sent to a competition, where he performed variations that were part of the program for older dancers and, naturally, surprised the jury members.

External data

The dancer says that some teachers did not want to see the obvious and did not believe that something good would come out of him, based on his physical parameters. They could not even imagine that Ivan Vasiliev would bring so many new things. Ballet, the height for which has great value, quite conservative art. Ivan’s height, of course, was far from tall, and the choreographers doubted whether he could look beautiful on stage, and his legs were a bit short, and, as some teachers said, they betrayed his plebeian roots. But, as you can see, they were wrong. Ivan Vasiliev proved that to achieve heights in a dancer’s career, appearance is not the most important thing, although the young man worked on his body to the point of exhaustion, as a result of training, he, the word sculptor, sculpted something perfect out of it. It is impossible not to admire his torso; it is worthy of admiration, resembling an isosceles triangle with its apex turned towards the waist.

To Moscow

Before graduating from college, Ivan Vasiliev, whose life ballet played the most important role at that time, had an internship at the Belarusian Bolshoi Theater and performed solo parts in productions of Don Quixote and Corsair. However, all his thoughts were connected with Moscow - this is where he saw himself in the future. And so, having received his diploma, he took a train ticket and, at his own risk, went to the capital of the country, which he considered his homeland. He was, of course, dissuaded, but in Moscow, no matter what you say, true talent is valued.

Premier of the country's main theater

In 2006, the talented dancer was accepted into the Bolshoi Theater, where he made his debut in the play “Don Quixote” in the role of Basil. After 4 years, he already became the premiere of the ballet troupe, bypassing the title of leading soloist, which happened extremely rarely. Here he performed the main roles V legendary performances: “Giselle”, “Spartacus”, “The Nutcracker”, “Don Quixote”, “Petrushka”. Its director and choreographer was Yuri Vladimirov. Before becoming prime minister, Ivan Vasiliev successfully took part in a magnificent project international level"Kings of Dance" (2009). Here he danced on the same stage with such famous dancers, like David Hallberg, Jose Manuel Carreno, Joaquin De Luz, and compatriots Nikolai Tsiskaridze, Denis Matvienko and others.

Ivan Vasiliev: Mikhailovsky Theater

It's no secret that being the premier of the Bolshoi Theater is cherished dream of all ballet dancers, the pinnacle of their career. And imagine the surprise of all the initiates when they learned that Ivan Vasiliev and Natalya Osipova (his partner in many performances and his friend) refused to rehearse “Don Quixote” and decided to leave for St. Petersburg, and not to the Mariinsky, and the Mikhailovsky Theater. Of course, this sounded like a bolt from the blue. The Bolshoi management was at a loss. Contains such strange information professional biography. Ivan Vasiliev later explained his decision by saying that he needed a new incentive, a new tough motivation. However, the Bolshoi did not want to completely part with his favorite, and today he is a “guest star” for the theater. By the way, in the same capacity he performs at La Scala, in the Roman opera house, Bavarian Ballet, Mariinsky and Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theaters, and also regularly appears on the stage of the American Ballet Theater. He managed to raise the Mikhailovsky Theater to an incredible level. Here he is the performer of leading parts in ballet performances"Don Quixote", "Sleeping Beauty", "La Bayadère", "Giselle", "Flames of Paris", "Corsair", " Swan Lake", "Laurencia", "Halt of the Cavalry", "La Sylphide", " A futile precaution" and others. Ivan Vasiliev, of course, managed to reach the very top in his career as a dancer. He is among the highest paid ballet dancers in the whole world. Isn't that all he strived for?

Choreographer

No. I. Vasiliev says that already at the age of 12, analyzing the work of his choreographers, and in his heart disagreeing with them, he dreamed that the time would come when he himself would be able to create his own production. In 2015, at the end of spring, he managed to fulfill his dream. His debut performance was “Ballet No. 1”, where he used incredible tricks and elements, as if wanting to show what the capabilities of the human body can reach, both in solo and duet roles. The premiere took place on the stage of the Barvikha Luxury Village hall and was an incredible success. The main thing is that the choreographer himself was pleased with himself, and he said that this was just the beginning, new incredible productions awaited everyone.

Ivan Vasiliev: personal life

After Vasiliev arrived in Moscow and got a job at the Bolshoi Theater, he began a relationship with his colleague, Natalya Osipova. In tandem with her, over the course of 4 years they went to the title of premier and prima of the country's main theater. After this, all the acquaintances expected that the couple would legalize their relationship and have a grand wedding, but suddenly it broke up, and soon Ivan began to be noticed in the company of another Bolshoi Theater ballerina, Maria Vinogradova. They danced in a duet in the ballet “Spartacus”. After this, the young people started dating after rehearsals, and for the first date, I. Vasiliev invited his girlfriend to the Bolshoi Theater, but not to the ballet, but to the opera. Probably, it was funny for them to find themselves, although in a familiar environment, not on their own stage, but in front of it, in the audience hall.

Wedding

Vanya made his marriage proposal to Maria in a very romantic atmosphere. He covered the entire room with rose petals and decorated it balloons. He got down on one knee, like a medieval knight, and handed his beloved a box with an incredibly expensive ring. It turned out that it was a designer’s work from the famous jewelry brand “Graff”, which cost the artist $50,000. Well, what girl could resist such a confession? Maria, naturally, gave her consent, and they began to prepare for the wedding, which took place in the summer of 2015. The wedding ceremony was very beautiful, and the couple looked more than happy. Exactly a year after this, Maria and Ivan had their first child, daughter Anna.

Ivan Vasiliev is changing his profession. Ivan Vasiliev got married. Ivan Vasiliev is ready to say “no” to the President of Russia for the sake of homemade cutlets... The famous ballet dancer, star of the Mikhailovsky and Bolshoi Theaters Ivan Vasiliev told the editor-in-chief of HELLO magazine! Svetlana Bondarchuk about the recent wedding with Maria Vinogradova, which took place on June 6 in Moscow, a new round in his career - in May Ivan made his debut as a choreographer, presenting concert hall"Barvikha Luxury Village" performed its first performance "Ballet No. 1" - and also recalled interesting stories from its ballet past.

Ivan Vasiliev and Svetlana Bondarchuk during an interview at the Vanil restaurant

Svetlana. I think that even those who are not so familiar with ballet and have not seen Ivan Vasiliev on stage remembered him at the opening ceremony of the Olympics in Sochi, in the part of the show where the scene of Natasha Rostova’s first ball was played out. A handsome young man with romantic curls in a spectacular hussar jacket performed several jumps - incredible flying jumps that simply took your breath away.

I had the opportunity to see the duet of Ivan Vasiliev with ballerina Natalya Osipova on the stage of the Bolshoi more than once - it always made a huge impression. And one day it turned out that I found myself in the epicenter of... I don’t want to say a scandal, but Natasha and Ivan really shocked us then. Imagine, HELLO! conducts photography at the Mikhailovsky Theater and suddenly we learn that Natalya Osipova and Ivan Vasiliev have signed a contract with the Mikhailovsky Theater. Incredible: stars main stage countries "escaped" to St. Petersburg. And not even to the Mariinsky Theater. Literally half an hour later the information spread across all news agencies, and in the evening it was reported on the news on central channels. But we were the first to know about it!

Today, fortunately, nothing prevents Ivan from dancing both at the Mikhailovsky Theater and at the Bolshoi (now he is a guest star here). Recently, Ivan made his debut with his own choreography: at Barvikha Luxury Village he presented his first project - “Ballet No. 1”. I'm sure this was not the last performance. Bolshoi stars took part in the performance, but I can say for sure that that evening the closest eyes were directed at the ballerina Maria Vinogradova. Many people already knew then that she and Ivan Vasiliev were engaged. And now I am pleased to inform the readers of HELLO! that Ivan and Maria got married last Saturday, for which I sincerely congratulate them.

Svetlana. Ivan, we met you, if I’m not mistaken, about seven years ago. It was at Chapurina's bar. It was a lot of fun. We even drank, I remember.

Ivan.(Laughs.)

Svetlana. At that time I didn’t have many acquaintances from the world of ballet, and it was a discovery for me that you, ballet people, are so completely down to earth and nothing human is alien to you. You can have fun and dance. You, in my opinion, have a wonderful sense of humor, and, in fact, what I’m getting at is: I would like you to repeat HELLO for the readers! that amazing story related to the Olympics, which he once told me.

Ivan. Yes, it was a really funny incident. The fact is that during preparation for this ceremony I spent a week and a half in Sochi without going anywhere. I was not allowed to go to Moscow even for one day, although I was eager to go there with all my might. It is clear that after the opening ceremony, the first thing I did was rush to the hotel, grab my suitcase, get into a taxi to quickly get to the airport, and from there to Moscow. Because in Moscow Masha was already waiting for me with turkey cutlets with peppers, which she prepared and even sent me photos via Viber. And here I am driving in the car, and suddenly - bam! - call: “Vanya, Vladimir Vladimirovich is gathering everyone tomorrow. You should be there.” I say: “No, I can’t, I have a plane!” - “But this is Vladimir Vladimirovich...” And then I say: “Well, maybe he can meet me in Moscow?” - “Vanya, it will be quite awkward for me to tell Putin about this.” Well, it’s awkward, so oops! And I hung up. Let's move on. Ten seconds pass, and suddenly it starts: everyone who could call me. Finally, Masha called me: “Vanya, okay, the cutlets will wait, just stay.” So, I asked to turn the car around and stayed another day.

Svetlana. This means that love is the most important thing for you. Love for homemade cutlets. (Laughs.)

Ivan. Yes, Masha jokes about me: “That’s why you love me - for the cutlets.”

Svetlana. Is she really that good at cooking?

Ivan. My wife cooks everything perfectly: from basic buckwheat with mushrooms to Tom Yum soup. In general, she spoils me terribly. Thanks to her, I am so spoiled and terribly picky. I only need the most delicious things. (Laughs.)

Svetlana. The other day you and Masha got married, congratulations again!

Ivan. Thank you.

Svetlana. But a month earlier, another important event happened for you: you made your debut as a choreographer. Was this really such a long-time dream?

Ivan. You could say it was a childhood dream. Because, as a 12-year-old teenager, I already knew that I would definitely bet. Now I am at such a stage in my career: I have danced a lot of what I had in mind, and now I need to move on. I don’t just want to dance, I want to create something new and interesting. In this project "Ballet No. 1" I gathered the best Bolshoi artists: Denis Savin, Kristina Kretova, Anna Okuneva, Alexander Smolyaninov... I saw at rehearsals that they were really passionate about the process, that they wanted to work, they were open to any of my craziest ideas. (Laughs.)

Svetlana. If this was your long-time dream, surely there was someone who pushed you to this decision, helped you take a step?

Ivan. Masha, for which I am very grateful to her. I am the kind of person who always has a lot of plans in my head. I can get sick of them endlessly. Walking around the apartment until three o’clock in the morning, coming up with something, thinking about it, saying: “I want, I want, I want.” And at some point Masha simply told me: “Do you want it? Go ahead!” You see, I needed to hear these words from loved one: "Let's". I needed this “start” shot to make me run. And now I will run until I reach the red flag on the high mountain.

Svetlana. We need to warn Masha so that she still takes care of you. (Laughs.)

Ivan. Now she herself suffers because I sometimes jump up in the middle of the night: I’m inspired. I start to come up with a new choreography, wander around the apartment, and suddenly find myself in the kitchen. I don’t understand how I ended up there... (Laughs.) Masha comes into the kitchen. The lights are off, I’m standing in the dark, somehow shaking... (Laughs.) She looks: “Vanya...”

Svetlana. It seems, Ivan, that you are not looking for easy ways. You have a wonderful career as a dancer, and suddenly you embark on the path of an unknown for you - choreography. If you dance at the Bolshoi, you suddenly move to the Mikhailovsky Theater.

Ivan. You're right. When I get too comfortable, I want to change everything and start over. Leave the Bolshoi, where I could dance Spartacus, Don Quixote and so on for years, and go to the theater, which at that time did not sound the same as it does now, and grow in it in a new way.

Svetlana. Your dad, a military man, apparently didn’t look for easy ways either when he enrolled you in ballet. For a man to send his son to ballet is, you must admit, a little unusual. Especially if he himself is not associated with this art. How did this happen?

Ivan. It was difficult not to give me away, because, in fact, I had been dancing in dance classes since I was four years old. folk ensemble in Dnepropetrovsk, where we moved from the Primorsky Territory, where I was born. And then, when I saw ballet for the first time, I declared that I only wanted to do ballet.

Svetlana. How old were you?

Ivan. Seven years.

Svetlana. How did you know it was yours?

Ivan. I don’t know, it’s as if something is leading me through life. It’s as if something is sitting inside and pushing me in the right direction. And I think I’ve gone in the right direction: I’m doing what I love. I go to work not under pressure, but with pleasure. Only if you don't have to get up at seven in the morning for her. (Laughs.)

Svetlana. So do you like to sleep?

Ivan. For me it's necessary thing- get some sleep. I like to sleep a lot. All theaters struggle with this. But my current status in the ballet allows me to request late rehearsals.

Svetlana. Did you immediately begin to stand out at the choreographic school?

Ivan. I have always stood out for my character. I have the character of a leader: I strive to be the best in everything I undertake. But my teachers, on the contrary, doubted. Ensemble teacher folk dance said: “Well, where should he go to ballet? Look, he has short legs, small, plump...” Time has shown that he was wrong.

Svetlana. Absolutely. At the root. But there are still certain physical standards. It turns out that you are destroying stereotypes?

Ivan. Standards are all relative. If you compare me with today's long-legged princes, then yes, I am beyond the standards. But if you look a little wider or a little further, into the past, then no. Vladimir Vasiliev is not tall, Rudolf Nureyev’s legs were not the longest.

Svetlana. You remind me of Nureyev most of all.

Ivan. Thank you. This is my favorite dancer.

Svetlana. But when you started, everyone probably compared you to Vasiliev? Maybe they even thought you were his relative?

Ivan. Yes, there were a lot of questions. Moreover, my dad is the complete namesake of Vladimir Viktorovich Vasiliev. One day they called me from some competition and asked: “Ivan, can you take part in our gala concert?” I replied: “Unfortunately, I can’t.” - “Will your dad be able to come to us and sit on the jury?” I replied: “Of course he can. But he will only evaluate the marching step.”

Svetlana. You have, one might say, inherited Vasiliev's crown game - Spartak. Are your Spartakis similar?

Ivan. No, we are completely different Spartakis. He is the Spartacus that the time needed: the greatest and noblest hero.

Svetlana. Now what kind of heroes are needed?

Ivan. My Spartak, in my opinion, is more down to earth, more humane. As they say, life. But, of course, Vladimir Viktorovich always made a colossal impression on me in this game. It is impossible to repeat it. In general, it is impossible to copy artists of such stature as Vasiliev, Lavrovsky, Vladimirov, Nuriev. And those who strive for this are mistaken. You need to create your own.

Svetlana. But I can say for sure what you and Vasiliev have in common - pronounced masculine charisma. Although, in the minds of the average person, a ballet dancer is, frankly speaking, not very male profession. Well, there are certain stereotypes? They also exist for actors. But you don't have it at all.

Ivan. Actually in ballet world a lot of real men. (Laughs.) And sometimes we laugh at ourselves: what kind of profession have we chosen - we paint eyelashes, put on tights. We love to laugh at this. Because there are ballets - the so-called blue classics like "Giselle", "La Sylphide", where all the dramaturgy fits into simple diagram: fell in love - swore - got married. Or fell in love - swore - everyone died. It's just fun to laugh at tights. Although at the same time this is art, this is a fairy tale. And we are inside this fairy tale.

Svetlana. Ivan, do you and Masha dance a lot together now?

Ivan. Yes, we dance in a lot of places: in “Giselle”, “La Sylphide”, “Spartacus” and “Ivan the Terrible”.

Svetlana. Tell me, are you the owner? Jealous man?

Ivan. Yes.

Svetlana. For example, what if your wife dances with another partner?

Ivan. This is absolutely normal. This is a theater. And if I dance with another partner, I have no doubt that Masha will calmly survive it. I dance in all the theaters of the world, with different ballerinas different nationalities. It's just our profession.

Svetlana. What about these close encounters in ballet? All this support...

Ivan. Well, that's how we were raised. We have been dancing duet dances since childhood. We take girls by the legs to lift them up. They don't perceive it as harassment. (Laughs.)

Svetlana. Explain to me: this is what it’s like to dance with the woman you love? On the one hand, this is probably simpler, but on the other...

Ivan. More responsible. This is a double burden on the nerves. I will never forgive myself if I lose my soulmate. (Laughs.) Although, thank God, I haven’t dropped anyone yet.

Svetlana. I know that you are one of the highest paid ballet dancers in the world. But now that you have a family, your financial needs should probably increase even more? To what extent is the money side of the issue decisive for you?

Ivan. I have never been put off by the number of zeros in my fees. And I don't intend to do this in the future. For me, creativity is a priority. If I'm interested in a job, it doesn't matter how much I get paid for it. Speaking specifically about choreography, the main thing for me as a choreographer is to create something new. This is my goal now.

Svetlana. Do you want children?

Ivan. Yes, very much.

Svetlana. What about Maria’s career? Is she ready?

Ivan. Certainly. Everything has its time.

Svetlana. Will you have a honeymoon?

Ivan. Unfortunately, we only have two weeks of vacation. We are planning to go to Dubai in August.

Svetlana. Don't, it's terrible. It's very hot there at this time.

Ivan. It's late, that's it. We are already going there. Because we spent our last vacation in Mauritius and it was cold there. This summer I decided to go to a place where it will be one hundred percent very hot.

Svetlana Bondarchuk and Ivan VasilievSvetlana. Ivan, I want to ask you: what is the most important thing in life for you? What comes first?

Ivan. My favorites. I live for my family basically. If I didn’t have a family, my beloved woman, mother, brother, grandmother, I don’t know what I would do... Live for myself? I don't understand this at all. I don’t do creative work for myself and I don’t dance for myself. I have a family, I have a home front, I have a place to return to, there are those for whom I go to the ends of the earth, twitch in tights, sweat, and then don’t sleep on the plane. Everything is just for them.

Svetlana. Thank you, Ivan. You know what I was thinking: invite me to your rehearsal sometime?

Ivan. With pleasure.

Svetlana. When you set it yourself. I'm very interested in how this happens, honestly.

Ivan. With pleasure. Although at these moments I look a little like a madman. But I like it.

They are young, talented and obsessed with their profession. Duet on stage and in life. Maria Vinogradova is the leading soloist of the Bolshoi Theater. Her element is lyrical heroines, and in this role she is truly in demand today.

Ivan Vasiliev - world star ballet Each of his performances, on any continent, is a grandiose event for the public, who idolizes Vasilyev... Most recently, Masha and Ivan had a daughter. But Maria is already in service. December 16 at the Christmas evening "Christmas Ballet Gala" in Kremlin Palace her next premiere is the ballet “Scheherazade”. Who is the partner? Of course, Ivan Vasiliev!

WITHhow many years have you been together?

Ivan: I turned three years old in December.

Is this a lot or a little?

Maria: It depends on which side you look at.

I.: With me - a year or two.

Why such speeds?

I.: Because I am a cheerful person. ( Laughs.)

Each of you had your own personal life, your own career. What brought you together?

M.: Scene. At the Bolshoi Theater we danced together in “Spartacus”, Vanya - the main role of Spartacus, I - Phrygia, his lover. This is where it all started. ( Smiles.)

In the ballet world, many are fixated on their profession.

I.: This is exactly what I’m struggling with. It's just a ballet, not the whole life. I guess I really realized this when I started a family, when my daughter was born. You come home and you have to be able to switch.

M.: Of course, I want to spend as much time as possible with my little daughter, but I also need to manage everything in my career.

How old is your daughter now?

I.: Five months. For the sake of my daughter, I work a lot and tour a lot.

Sometimes I come home late in the evening, and at five in the morning I have to fly somewhere again. The only thing that gives me strength and makes me pull myself together internally is my daughter and family.

How quickly did you feel that your relationship might end in marriage?

I.: We came together like a puzzle, we immediately felt harmony. From the first week we started dating, it was so easy for us to be together. Now we have multiplied this feeling, we have become a full-fledged family, this cannot but rejoice. True, I looked after Masha for almost a month.

I understand, Ivan, that with your reactivity, a month is an eternity.

I.: For me, an hour is sometimes an eternity, everything is relative.

M.: And it seems to me that this time somehow dragged on slowly.

I.: I was touring all the time then. The courtship was at a distance, I sent Masha parcels and flowers.

M.: Mostly it was flowers.

I.: I remember one day I brought you a box and told you to open it when I was already on the train. I went to Moscow then for literally ten hours.

And you, Masha, of course, liked all this?

M.: Well, what woman doesn’t like it when she is beautifully looked after? ( Smiles.) Maybe these signs of attention were especially dear and valuable, because real feelings arose.

When you dance in a duet, the scene is sure to highlight genuine feelings. Have you already danced together after your daughter was born?

M.: Yes, on November 29 we had Spartak. In fact, being in a position, I set myself the goal of returning to the stage very quickly. I realized for myself that if I go on maternity leave, I will never come back.

Our profession is the work of young people, and if you fall out of the process for a long time, you may not get a lot done. So, as soon as the doctors allowed physical activity, I started going to ballet class. This happened a month after giving birth.

Everything moved so quickly that at the beginning of the season I was actively involved in work. It was difficult, of course. Vanya saw my suffering, in the summer he went to the theater with me, gave me a class, helped me get into shape.

I.: I couldn’t convince Masha that I still needed to stay at home. I would gladly sit in her place. (Laughs.)

M.: While on maternity leave, I went to performances in which Vanya danced. “Spartak”, “Ivan the Terrible” in the Bolshoi... I flew with him to St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, even to Japan. I really wanted to go on stage!

At one time there was a big story when Ivan Vasiliev, already being the premiere of the ballet and having all possible privileges in the theater, unexpectedly left the Bolshoi. Do you, Vanya, have any desire to go back?

I.: I left, but in fact I didn’t go anywhere. Because a month after “leaving” the theater I began collaborating with the Bolshoi again as a guest soloist, and I continue to collaborate to this day. I have a lot most interesting projects all over the world. At the moment, the situation with the Bolshoi Theater suits me. I like to come there, dance my favorite ballets, the Bolshoi is my first theater, my home, my beginning, and I feel very comfortable here.

I remember well your first performance at the Bolshoi in 2006. You danced in Basil's Don Quixote, the main male part, the most difficult part, designed for a mature dancer, and you were only seventeen years old at that time! This is a unique case for the Bolshoi Theater; nothing like it has happened either before or since.

M.: Vanya is a unique case in itself. ( Smiles.) I mean his brilliant career. On stage he is honest, he always gives his best - even if there are injuries, he never saves strength. And in life he is as open as on stage.

That's just about strength and energy. One day, at a creative evening for the ballerina Ulyana Lopatkina, a very dramatic episode happened. Ivan started dancing a fragment from the ballet “Flames of Paris”, suddenly lost his balance, fell, then started dancing again and as a result lost consciousness right on stage. Personally, it was painful and scary for me to watch all this...

I.: Yes, I was dancing then with a temperature of about forty, only behind the scenes I came to my senses, on some bed. They called an ambulance.

Who needs such sacrifices and why?!

I.: Well, I don’t know how to say “no”. ( Smiles.)

Were you scared then?

I.: No, it wasn’t scary. It was a shame.

M.: Not a single artist is immune from this. There are things you can't control on stage. Injuries happen. I had a broken leg. I “broke down” during the rehearsal of a new play. I worked with this fracture for about another week, because the doctors did not see the fracture on the x-ray.

I walked on crutches for a month, then it took a long time to recover. And I had so many premieres planned then! Of course, you need to take care of your health. You need to devote more time to rest. Even Vanya already realized that he needed to take care of himself. I am responsible for the health of our family. I always make sure my husband takes vitamins, gets massages...

One more thing. I remember very well how, before my debut in Don Quixote, just before the start of the performance, I asked Ivan if he was nervous when he appeared on the stage of the Bolshoi Theater for the first time. And Ivan answered self-confidently: “Why worry?” I was quite surprised by this reaction.

I.: Probably it was youthful maximalism, a defensive reaction. I can say that if the excitement disappears before the performance, you can leave the profession.

So you were lying then?

I.: Of course. Or maybe because of the adrenaline I didn’t understand how much I was worried. Now I understand that no matter how much I dance, I get more and more worried. When you grow, when you reach a certain level, responsibility for what you do appears. Every time you go on stage, you have to become the best version of yourself.

At seventeen you had Don Quixote. Where to grow next?

And you succeeded. You have had a phenomenal career, you are applauded all over the world.

I.: Over the years I have been able to dance in many places. I worked with the best dance troupes in New York, London, Munich, Rome... I was Ivan the Terrible, and Spartacus, and the prince in Swan Lake, and the Evil Genius there. I don’t have such a thing that, they say, how is it that you put me as an Evil Genius, and I only want to be a prince. If the role is interesting to me, even if it is secondary, what difference does it make? After all, you can go out and dance it so that it becomes the main one!

That's true. It seems to me that you have completely different characters. If Ivan is temperamental and explosive, then Masha is calm, imperturbable...

I.: In some ways we are still similar. For example, both are domestic, such “couch troops”. The biggest thrill is when you can sit at home together and talk...

I know that Masha is a native Muscovite, but Ivan has a rich geography.

I.: Yes, it shook me. I was born in the Primorsky Territory, and studied ballet in Minsk. ( Smiles.)

Why Minsk and not Moscow?

I.: They advised me to have good teachers there. We moved from Vladivostok to Ukraine when I was twelve years old. From there it’s on to Minsk.

I wonder, Vanya, were you told from the very beginning that you have outstanding ballet skills?

I.: At the age of five I already danced a variation from Don Quixote...

...wow!

I.: So, there was probably potential. I can’t say that everything was easy, but I’ve loved working since childhood.

I didn’t like to idly run around the school, play tag or sit in the computer club, it was simply not interesting to me, and what was the point of all this? I only did what could bring some results. I've always been a leader, even English language learned for this reason. When I came to work under contract in New York, at the American Ballet Theater, I thought: how can it be that I won’t be the life of the party? And I started learning the language. It’s probably in my nature to be the center of attention. ( Smiles.)

Were you invited to the Bolshoi after winning the Moscow International Ballet Competition? In any case, then everyone was talking only about the phenomenal Ivan Vasiliev.

I.: They invited me a little later. Gold medal I received it at a competition in Moscow at the age of fifteen.

M.: By the way, Ivan and I met there for the first time: that year I also became a laureate.

I.: No, we met for the first time earlier, when you came to a concert with us at the Minsk School. Don't you remember? I took part in a one-act production staged especially for me, and Masha danced in The Nutcracker. True, we didn’t meet then.

Why?

I.: I was generally a shy boy. He went on stage, danced, and then remained in his own world. Every time a ballet was performed in the Minsk theater, I was sure to be in auditorium, in the gallery. My school classmates were surprised: “Why do you go to the same production so many times?” But I didn’t understand how you could skip it, the performers are different every time, there’s a lot to learn.

Your older brother Victor also does ballet. Have you followed in his footsteps?

I.: No, rather, he followed mine. It so happened that we started studying together in a folk ensemble, and then I was ahead of him everywhere. I went to Minsk, a year later he arrived. When I came to the Bolshoi, he entered the Moscow Academy of Choreography. Now my brother works at the Bolshoi Theater in a mimance, so there is only Vasiliev on staff! ( Smiles.) And they called me to the Bolshoi three times.

Did you really have to persuade?!

I.: The first time they called me for a conversation was when I was at a competition in Perm, so I couldn’t come. I won the Perm competition, and they called me a second time, but at that time I had state exams at the school. And the third time they actually sent me a train ticket. I met the management, and they immediately offered me to become a soloist.

Usually everyone starts with the corps de ballet.

I.: This happened for the first time at the Bolshoi: seventeen years old, just from school - and immediately became a soloist.

Did you think that all this was in the order of things, or did you perceive it as gifts of fate?

I.: What gifts of fate? I just wanted everything to happen that way. At the age of twenty, I already became the premiere of the ballet, bypassing the position of leading soloist.

With Masha, in this sense, everything is smooth, step by step.

M.: Yes, I went through all the stages at the Bolshoi: from artist of the “second corps de ballet” to leading soloist. First leading role became Anastasia in “Ivan the Terrible”, then “Spartak”, and then new interesting roles.

And Ivan is now also a choreographer. Tell me, when did you feel the need to stage ballets?

I.: Even before dancing. I always want to do something new, otherwise I get bored. Masha constantly heard that I wanted to bet, and then one day she told me: “If you want, bet.” That is, she actually pushed me to realize my dream.

M.: When Vanya composes a ballet, it’s a different story. A person is completely immersed in his own world. He may wake up in the middle of the night, turn on music, start telling me something or even showing me something.

I.: Several of my productions are in the repertoire of the Mikhailovsky Theater, where I serve today.

And on December 31, on the stage of the Hermitage Theater there will be a premiere of my two-act ballet “A Christmas Carol” based on Dickens’ story “A Christmas Carol”, I myself dance the hero named Scrooge.

If Ivan dances on December 31 in St. Petersburg, does that mean you will be celebrating the New Year separately?

I.: I specially scheduled my premiere for sixteen o’clock so that I could then catch the plane to Moscow. So New Year We will definitely meet together!

Maria Alexandrova and Vladislav Lantratov

Premier of the Bolshoi Theater Vladislav Lantratov and People's Artist of Russia Maria Alexandrova have known each other for a long time, but in the summer of 2014, while Petruchio tamed the obstinate Katarina on the stage of the Bolshoi Theater, the artists entered into an alliance that was not only creative.
Having previously experienced emotional and physical trauma, Maria, according to mutual friends, accepted Vladislav’s feelings as a reward. Joint walks along the alleys of Arbat, jewelry surprises and gatherings at Coffeemania on Sadovaya-Kudrinskaya noticeably softened the laughter and dance of this strong woman, who even rewarded her Odette with the severity of a suffering nature.

Before Alexandrova, Lantratov met with ballet dancer Anastasia Shilova.

To add some spice, it’s worth noting that Maria is 10 years older than Vladislav. In addition, she left her husband, artist Sergei Ustinov, whom she married in 2007.

In my opinion, purely outwardly, Vladislav is inferior to his artist husband,
but, as they say, don’t drink water from your face)

Ivan Vasiliev and Maria Vinogradova

Vasiliev is the premier of the Mikhailovsky Theater and already, at 26, an Honored Artist of Russia. Vinogradova is the leading soloist of the Bolshoi Theater.

Their romance began collaboration in the production of "Spartacus" in 2013, in which Vasiliev danced Spartacus, and Vinogradov danced Phrygia.

For the first date, Ivan Vasiliev invited Maria Vinogradova... to the Bolshoi Theater, although to the opera. The couple's romance developed more rapidly than the second act of La Bayadère. The Mikhailovsky Theater director quickly decided that the Graff ring for 50 thousand dollars would be best suited to express his feelings for his beloved. On Day X, Vasiliev strewed the floor in the living room with rose petals, fell on his knee in front of Vinogradova and offered her his hand and heart. The girl couldn't resist.

« What kind of person is he? Best. My. Not in the sense that he is my property. He's my man. I feel comfortable with him“- said Maria Vinogradova in an interview with Tatler magazine, the cover of the February issue of which was graced by this bright couple. It’s impossible not to admire Ivan and Maria (one is tempted to switch to the folklore “Ivan and Marya”) - they are young, beautiful, happy, in love and are not going to hide it.

This summer, the lovers officially got married)

Marriage to Ivan is Maria’s second. She was previously married to her brother general director radio station "Silver Rain" by Dmitry Savitsky - Alexander, owner of the company "Trehmer".
After the divorce, the ballerina had a two-year relationship with the host of the show “Heads and Tails” Anton Lavrentiev.

It is worth mentioning that for a long time, almost from the moment he graduated from college, Vasiliev met with a prima ballerina Natalia Osipova. Everyone was already sure that they would get married and live together until coffin board, but unexpectedly two years ago the couple broke up.

Now, as you know, Natalya Osipova is dating Sergei Polunin, who has repeatedly declared his commitment to the ballet standard))

In addition to his affair with Osipova, he dated the Covent Garden ballerina Helen Crawford and the aspiring Bolshoi Theater ballerina Yulia.

Artem Ovcharenko and Anna Tikhomirova.

Artem and Anna met at the choreographic school at the Bolshoi Theater, entered the Bolshoi with a difference of two years, both went from corde ballet dancers to soloists, and Artem was awarded the title of premier 2 years ago.

The young people have been dating for 7 years. And they recently announced that they will get married soon).

From the interview:

WITHHow many years have you been together?

Anna: It will be seven years in October. We met much earlier, as teenagers. Once at a New Year's disco at the choreographic school, Artyom invited me to dance and said that he liked me. But career and teaching :) took all my strength, there was no time for a relationship. However, years later we ended up in the same theater - the Bolshoi. Then Artyom began to seriously look after me. And I did this until I finally realized that I really wanted to be close to this person.

Anastasia Stashkevich and Vyacheslav Lopatin

Prima ballerina and leading soloist of the Bolshoi Theater

got married in 2011)

Denis and Anastasia Matvienko

Premier Mariinsky Theater married to a soloist of the same theater for twelve years, they are raising a two-year-old daughter, Lisa.

From the interview:

Nevertheless, you still chose a ballerina as your wife - Anastasia Matvienko. So, is there something special about them after all?

Ballet girls marry ballet girls only because they are too busy. If you train and rehearse all day, and in the evening you also dance in a play, then where will you go to get acquainted? So it turns out that most of the marriages are intra-ballet.

Nastya and I met at the Serge Lifar Ballet Competition, where I was not supposed to perform - I just came to watch. Standing behind the scenes, I saw a girl dancing on stage - beautiful, bright and very talented - this was immediately obvious. We met, I tried to look after Nastya, but at first I didn’t have much success. She didn’t even respond immediately to the marriage proposal I made by placing a diamond ring in her jacket pocket. But, fortunately, we have been together for eleven years, we have a wonderful daughter, Lisa, whom I consider the main victory in my life.

Did your wife decide to give birth without fear for her ballet career?

Today, ballerinas do not have to sacrifice either their career for the sake of their personal life, or their personal life for the sake of their career. At the same time as Nastya - give or take a couple of months - several more ballerinas of the Mariinsky Theater gave birth to children. My wife recovered very quickly and within four months after giving birth she began dancing again.

Leonid Sarafanov and Olesya Novikova

The prime minister of the Mikhailovsky Theater is married to the first soloist of the Mariinsky Theater. They met and got married when Leonid was the premier of the Mariinsky Theater.

The couple has three children. Five-year-old son Alexey, two-year-old Ksenia. And just two weeks ago, on December 16, son Alexander was born.

Ekaterina Kondaurova and Islom Baimuradov

Prima ballerina and leading soloist of the Marinsky Theater Ekaterina Kondaurova and Islom Baimuradov could play the unearthly beauty of vampires from the Twilight saga: plastic movements, eyes that look into the very heart, insinuating, or rather, bewitching voices. But the artists still wouldn’t trade their favorite troupe for filming girl melodramas. It was their dedication to ballet that brought them together ten years ago.

Ekaterina came to enroll at Vaganovskoe from Moscow, Islom came from Austria. But because of the eight-year difference, they didn’t even know each other. Although the girl recalls: when Islom was already serving at the Mariinsky, and schoolgirl Katya came to rehearsals, running along the corridor she heard: “Oh, what girls we have here!” And, turning around, I saw a grinning handsome man.

Today he is not only the love of her life, but also a strict mentor - Islom is increasingly engaged in tutoring and does not give concessions even to Katya. At home, they love to cook together while listening to music, and the background for roasting lamb with spices is any pleasant melody - from classics to System of a Down. But not Swan Lake, please!

From an interview with Ekaterina in 2009:

I danced a lot with my husband, Islom Baymuradov, he is also a soloist at the Mariinsky. We really enjoy performing together, it’s a completely different feeling. The audience notices this; in New York, people were surprised: “There’s just some kind of chemistry between you.” - “Yes, we are husband and wife!” Our family is over a year old.

- Was the wedding like Volochkova’s?

- There wasn’t any: we got up at 8 in the morning, signed out at 9, went to class at 11, and in the evening we had “Swan”. I was dressed in a trouser suit, with a tie... I think that a wedding is a private matter between two people. If there are very big celebrations, it’s probably for the public. And then often that’s why they live together - well, after all, they saw the wedding. And here is our desire, no one participated, even my mother didn’t know until after the recording we came with the rings, and before the lesson I called her in Moscow. She is an understanding person.

Islom always tries to help Catherine, rehearsing with her even at home. I liked how in one program he said: " I didn’t become a star; unfortunately, my body didn’t allow it. But if I have a wife at home who can become a star, why not help her" And " We try to be together 24 hours a day. Necessarily. That's why I got married. Well I guess that's the meaning of life".

Victoria Tereshkina and Artem Shpilevsky

The prima ballerina of the Mariinsky Theater and the soloist of the Bolshoi Theater got married in the summer of 2008.

From an interview with Victoria:

– On stage, partners change, but in life, which partner did you get?
– I knew about my future husband from the age of sixteen. We studied together at the Academy of Russian Ballet. For me, he seemed something unattainable - a man of dreams. But, as you know, dreams come true. After studying, we met while touring around the world, sometimes in Moscow at concerts. Later he admitted to me that all this time he liked me too. But for a long time we did not communicate with him in any way, except for studying each other with our eyes. And during the recent tours of the Mariinsky and the Bolshoi in Japan, we finally met, we began a correspondence...
- By email?
– SMS-kami! I have known for a long time that he is very good. For me, not only external qualities are important in a man - beauty and “height”, but also what he is like inside. Because living is not about beauty. In short, last summer I married the Bolshoi Theater ballet soloist Artem Shpilevsky.
– How do ballerinas decide to family life?
– At first I didn’t really want to get married. But in life, many things often happen as if by themselves. You suddenly meet a person and realize that you can live happily ever after with him.
D do you think about procreation?

“There was a moment in my life when I couldn’t imagine myself as a mother; it seemed like everything was still very far away. But now I’m already getting ready for it. In the meantime, I got a cat - a Russian blue. Fate gave it to me. Someone locked it in our entrance with a shield. She meowed so pitifully that my husband and I couldn’t stand it and warmed it up. Right now I’m sitting with you, and I’m thinking about her - she sits at home hungry all day and waits for me. She always sees me off with such a reproachful look, knowing that I will return late.

In 2013, the couple had a daughter, Milada.

“Why did you choose such a rare name for your daughter?

It is ancient Slavic and means “sweetheart”, “okay” - what more could you want for a child? My husband and I decided to name our daughter that way while she was still in our belly.

How does a husband help with parenting?

His most important help is that thanks to him, my mother has the opportunity to attend my performances: while Artem is babysitting her daughter, she can sneak away to the theater. Because when I’m at rehearsals, it’s my mother who spends time with Milada, who recently specially moved to St. Petersburg from my native Krasnoyarsk - I couldn’t entrust my daughter to any other person.

Artem, who was a soloist of the Bolshoi Theater, probably could have danced calmly for another five years, but he left the stage. Why?

The profession stopped bringing him pleasure, and this is the worst thing. He even admitted that when he saw his name when assigning roles in new performances, he simply went to hard labor. This is despite the fact that at the beginning of his journey he really loved to dance - first he left Russia for Seoul, where he quickly went from a corduroy ballet dancer to a theater premiere, then accepted an offer to become a soloist of the Berlin Staatsoper, and then moved to Moscow. Of course, all his relatives lamented his departure from the theater, but he prepared for such a step in advance: he graduated from the Faculty of Law of MGIMO, and is now engaged in business. But thanks to this decision of his, we finally united. After all, for the first three years after marriage we lived in different cities.

And a little about ballet artistic directors

Sergey Filin and Maria Prorvich

Artistic director ballet troupe and the dancer of the Bolshoi Theater ballet have been together for about 15 years and are raising two sons.

True, Sergei Filin is not an example of a faithful husband. The whole country learned about this in 2013, during a hearing in the case of an attempt on his life. From the case report it turned out that Filin had intimate relationships with ballerinas Natalya Malandina, Olga Smirnova
and Maria Vinogradova. He also tried to persuade Angelina Vorontsova to such a relationship.

And all this with his wife Maria Prorvich alive.

Maria, how true friend, comrade and brother, forgave her husband for all his sprees, and supported him in everything, throughout the treatment, investigation and trial. However, Filin in court categorically denied any relationship with other ballerinas. And he never tires of saying in interviews that Maria is his main love, the most faithful friend, and that family is the meaning of his life.

By the way, Prorvich is already Filin’s third wife. From his second marriage to prima Inna Petrova, Sergei has a son, Daniil.

Igor Zelensky - Yana Serebryakova

Igor Zelensky's path to family happiness was long and thorny. In addition to the gossip that he met with a bunch of his partners in all the theaters, we managed to find out from the Internet about his affair with a ballerina Zhanna Ayupova. From the memoirs of her friend: “Zhanna got married early and gave birth to a son, Fedya, and it seemed that her life would continue to proceed peacefully. But that was not the case! One of the theater’s premieres, passionately falling in love with Zhanna, spun such a whirlpool around her. .. I can’t think of another more accurate definition. And Zhanna left her husband... The affair, although it was stormy, ended... I, however, watching the development of their relationship from the very beginning, believed that the affair contributed to Ayupova’s creative blossoming. ".

Zelensky broke up with Zhanna when he met the figure skater Ekaterina Gordeeva.Igor met Katya through his friends, and the feelings that she stirred up in him made the dancer fall head over heels in love, disregarding all conventions. " Katya is the most beautiful woman, - Igor stated . - She was broken after Sergei’s death. As a close friend, I hope I can bring some joy and comfort into her life.". Throughout this novel, Katya and Igor secretly attended each other's performances and, when a rare opportunity arose, met backstage. They spent all their free hours together. Despite the serious conspiracy they undertook against their personal wishes, they still failed to hide the truth.

Zelensky did not get to the point of marrying Gordeeva. But with the young soloist of the Mariinsky Theater Yana Serebryakova- it’s reached.
In 2007, their eldest daughter was born, who was named unusual name Mariamiya.

Afterwards, Yana gave birth to Zelensky two more children - a son and a daughter.

She left her career as a soloist. Engaged in teaching activities.

Alexey and Tatiana Ratmansky

They met in the late 80s in Kyiv. Tatiana was a ballerina in National Opera Ukraine and Alexey's partner. In 1992, the two of them went to work in Canada. In 1995 they returned to Kyiv, but having encountered many obstacles of a creative and bureaucratic nature, in 1997 they left for Denmark. Their son Vasily was born in Denmark two years later.

In Denmark, Alexey developed his talent as a choreographer. Since 2003 he has been the artistic director of the Bolshoi Theater ballet troupe, and since 2009 he has been a permanent choreographer at the American Ballet Theater.

From an old interview:

- Do you like the life of a nomadic artist?

- The main inconvenience is that I can’t do enough
devote time to my son.

-Who does he look like?

- I think it’s like me, although Tatyana and I are very similar to each other
on a friend. By the way, my wife and I gave birth to Vaska together - in Denmark, fathers are present during childbirth. By the way, I was the first to hold my son in my arms.

Son Vasily is very similar to his father.

Until now, on Facebook, Alexey never tires of declaring his love to his wife Tatyana.
