South Goa – beaches, photos, reviews, basic information and our personal impressions. Full overview of the beaches of North Goa with photos and videos

Conventionally, the beaches of Goa can be divided into two parts: northern and southern.

The beaches in north Goa extend for 30 km from Fort Aguada to Arambol and border Maharastra. There are not many historical attractions here: the capital of Goa Panajim, the towns of Vasco da Gama and Old Goa, the Basilica of Bom Jesus, Arambol, Fort Aguada and, of course, the beaches.

Many years ago, this region became the capital of the Portuguese Empire in the East and the mistress of the sea from the Cape Good Hope to the China Sea. In 1962, Goa got rid of Spanish dominance and gained independence.

The beaches of Goa in the northern part are considered the best coast of India. Life, parties and fun reign here. This is the land of festivals!

Anjuna Beach is a wide strip of beautiful sand with coconut groves. This region is favored by backpackers who enjoy picturesque views. Lovers of cheap trinkets and exclusive items from all over Goa also come here - every Wednesday a flea market opens right under the canopy of coconut trees.

- This is sand interspersed with basalt rocks. There is never a rush from tourists here. Not far from the shore you can find a freshwater lake and several springs with water containing hydrogen sulfide.

Calangute and Baga Beach– these are favorite hangout spots for hippies who come here to take part in various mass trances. These two beaches are considered inseparable twin brothers.

If you get tired of lying on the beach, be sure to visit the capital of Goa Panjim and the town of Old Goa. Here you can see a large number of attractions that the Portuguese left behind.

In this region there is huge amount cozy hotels and houses for tourists.

But on the southern coast of Goa you will connect with nature and understand that there is an Absolute.

The beaches of South Goa have not yet been touched by tourists; there is no noise, crowds of vacationers, crowded hotels and restaurants. Here you can take a break from the hustle and bustle and find unity with nature.

We highly recommend not spending your holidays here. North Goa is the most party beaches in India; they are good for creative people, young people who are looking for something new. But for lovers of beach holidays, you need to know that the top beaches of Goa are located in the south.

All beaches of North Goa on the map

You can go here or go when you are already tired of other beaches

We see no reason to go here on vacation

This beach is also known as Keri, and is located in the very north of Goa, near the Tirakol fort. The old Portuguese fort and the 17th century church are the main attractions of Kerim Beach, which is still quite calm and not overrun by tourists. The sea here is quite calm, the waves are small. Fort Tiracol, now converted into a hotel, can be visited by boat, which sails every half hour. Every evening on the beach you can see a beautiful scene - many fishing boats go out to sea at 6 pm to return back to the beach the next day at 5 am. From aquatic species The most popular sport is paragliding. But swimming here is unsafe, especially near the mouth of the Tirakol River. Kerim is located 58 kilometers north of Panaji, the easiest way to get here is from.

The beach is not prepared for tourists, but it is worth a visit if you live on Arambol

  • Kalacha beach is between noisy and quiet.
  • You can only get here by walking along the coast from Arambol.
  • This is a small, pleasant, and fairly secluded beach.
  • Great place for paragliding.
  • This beach is home to Sweet Water Lake, a popular holiday destination for tourists.

Promoted tourist center

Poor value for money in everything

Worth a visit just to check the box

  • Arambol beach is located one and a half kilometers from the village of the same name in northern Goa, next to the beaches and.
  • The beach is dotted with bars and cafes and is very popular among young people
  • But in fact, this is more of a promoted brand than a beach
  • The resort began to actively develop in 2002, when the Siolim Bridge was built across Chapora, but it quickly caught up with the neighboring beaches in popularity.
  • Known primarily as a hangout place for unconventional people from all over the world. Hipsters, hippies, artists, performers, and others.
  • The beach itself is of rather poor quality, there are a lot of cows on it, and the sea is not convenient for swimming.

Grade 4.0/5 | Budget: 70-90 thousand per week for two | Entertainment: beaching, sealing

One of the quietest beaches in Goa, the best beach in North Goa.

Not much to do and quite far from the main party areas

There is plenty of budget accommodation, but quality accommodation is slightly more expensive than in the main resorts.

It’s worth going here to live in inexpensive housing and lie on a good beach every day, forgetting about active life. Great place for meditation!

Far from the airport and the center of Goa

A great option is to fly here on a last-minute tour when you’ve had everything, and spend a week alone with yourself and nature.

Grade 3.8/5 | Budget: 80-100 thousand per week for two | Entertainment: beaching, parties, waterfalls

Nice beach, but already too popular among tourists.

Fairly developed nightlife.

Hotel prices are slightly higher than on neighboring beaches.

As in all of Goa, there is a rather meager choice of excursions.

It is worth considering as an option for young tourists looking for nightlife entertainment.

Grade 4.2/5 | Budget: 80-100 thousand per week for two | Entertainment: beaching, sealing, kitesurfing, communicating with Russians

The beach is a good choice for those who don’t mind the proximity of many Russians.

The beach itself is good for beaching and sealing, as well as kitesurfing.

Choose it if you don't really like noisy crowds.

  • Morjim Beach is located in a small village of the same name, 60 km from Dabolim Airport and 27 km from the state capital - Panaji.
  • In the north, Morjim borders on the beach, and in its southern part the Chapora River flows, on the opposite bank of which the beach is adjacent.
  • Back in the 2000s, immigrants from the CIS countries began to settle in this village, opening hotels, cafes and restaurants here. Since then, Morjim has become a favorite place among tourists from Russia, so it can rightfully be considered the most Russian beach in North Goa. There is even a “Russian Street” here, on which all establishments are owned by our compatriots.
  • In addition to the picturesque nature, Morjim will delight you with a variety of fauna. On the shore there are hermit crabs and starfish, and the left (southern) side ends in a protected, protected area - this turtle beach(Turtle Beach). Rare olive turtles, which are listed in the Red Book, live and breed here. Small turtles can be observed from November to March, but touching them is strictly prohibited. Sometimes cows and dogs come to the beach.
  • Palm trees and casuarinas grow along the coast.
  • The sand and sea are clean, as garbage is removed daily.
  • Morjim is a calm, uncrowded place, even in high season. And due to the crisis in Russia, tourists in lately became even smaller.
  • The length of the beach is about 3 kilometers. The coastline is wide - about 100 meters.
  • It is very shallow, you will have to go to a depth of several tens of meters.
  • Sand light gray, fine-grained and dense.
  • In the southern part of the beach, where Chapora flows into the sea, there are large waves and wind. Lifeguards often display red flags to warn of strong currents that can sweep a person out to sea. In the center and north of Morjim the water is usually calm.
  • Shower taps are installed on the shore. There are no beggars. Sellers of souvenirs and street food are rare.
  • The shade of the trees does not reach the beach, but there are enough umbrellas and awnings with sun loungers. All these amenities are owned by the beach cafe-shacks. You can use the sunbeds for free, but as a sign of gratitude and respect to the owner of the cafe, you should buy something, at least a glass of juice or water.

Grade 3.3/5 | Budget: 80-100 thousand per week for two | Entertainment: party, Chapora fort, Shiva sculpture

There is no reason why you would choose this beach as your holiday destination

Party, dirt, congestion

  • Vagator Beach is located in North Goa, to the north, 10 kilometers from Mapusa.
  • Nearby are the ruins of Chapora Fort, the main attraction of the region.
  • Historically, the beach was the venue for the largest open air event in Goa, but recently the authorities have banned its holding.
  • The quality of the beach itself is far from ideal - there is no convenient entrance to the sea, the sand is gray, the water is sometimes very muddy

Grade 3.7/5 | Budget: 80-100 thousand per week for two | Entertainment: trance, cafe, drinking, flea market

Treat this beach like a nightclub, not a beach

Come here only if you are young, hot, and want to try everything in life. And go to the beach sometime later.

Anjuna Beach is located in North Goa, at a distance of 18 kilometers from Panaji. This is an extremely lively place, the center of parties, where you can always drink and meet other tourists. Actually, Anjuna should not be perceived as a beach - it has long been more convenient for cows than for people.

Grade 3.7/5 | Budget: 80-100 thousand per week for two | Entertainment: nightclubs, night market, party

  • Baga Beach is located in North Goa, at a distance of 9 kilometers from Mapusa and 16 kilometers from Panaji.
  • Bordered by Calangute and Anjuna beaches
  • The beach is very popular, but is more suitable for amateurs nightlife than beach lovers
  • Historically, Baga Beach is the birthplace of tourism in Goa (and the traditional habitat of hippies)

Grade 3.8/5 | Budget: 80-100 thousand per week for two | Entertainment: party, excursions to crocodiles and dolphins, water sports

In our opinion, it can only be considered as a base for exploring neighboring beaches - Calangute itself is somewhat reminiscent of the worst thing in mass beach holidays.

Analogues are Patong in Phuket, Kuta in Bali, or the beaches of Sochi and Anapa during the influx of tourists.

  • Calangute is located 40 kilometers from Goa Dabolim Airport. The distance to Panaji is 13 kilometers, to Mapusa - 8.
  • Once upon a time this beach was one of the best in North Goa, and some considered it one of the best in the world.
  • However, now it is really overloaded with tourists, and therefore has lost its attractiveness.

The beaches of Goa stretch along the entire coast of this resort state. In fact, the entire tourist life in Goa is concentrated in a hundred-kilometer beach strip - everything a traveler needs is located right on the shores of the Arabian Sea, be it hotels, restaurants or beach cafes. Despite the fact that Goa can hardly be called best place for families with children, the number of tourists here increases year by year - however, this usually happens at the expense of young people, among whom this most “non-Indian” state of India is famous for its numerous parties and night discos.

Beaches of North and South Goa

Goa is conventionally divided into two dissimilar parts - northern and southern. The north of the state, without exaggeration, can be called the most party place on the entire coast of the Indian Ocean, because only Thai Phuket can boast of such an amount of nightlife. But the southern part sometimes resembles respectable European resorts with their measured life - there are practically no 24-hour establishments here, and the time for entertainment ends after sunset. In addition, judging by reviews of hotels in Goa, hotels in the northern and southern parts of the state are different from each other - modest and inexpensive hotels in the north sometimes look very modest compared to the chic ones in the south.

All Goa beaches belong to the state, so there are no places in the local resorts that are inaccessible to tourists, regardless of whether they live in a luxury hotel or in a coastal bungalow. The only exception is the beach, part of which is fenced off from tourists because of sea turtles, overlooking the coast during the breeding season. But sunbeds on almost all beaches are conditionally free, but you can only use them by purchasing food or drinks at beach sheks.

Most of the beaches in both parts of Goa are sandy, and the entry into the water is almost always gentle. There are often rivers on the beaches that cross them parallel to the seashore - they create unique lagoons that are convenient for children to swim in. The swimming season at local beaches lasts from October to March, when the weather in Goa is dry and not very hot. The coolest month here is January, but the air temperature in the daytime does not fall below 31-33 °C, and the sea water is never colder than the annual average of 28-29 °C. On average, at the height of the high season, the temperature fluctuates around 33 °C during the day and 22 °C at night.

Features of Goa beaches

Despite the fact that the Arabian Sea is rich in flora and fauna, diving in Goa is practically not common - due to the characteristics of the bottom and the numerous rivers flowing into it on the coast of the state, the water is quite muddy and visibility almost everywhere is no more than a couple of meters.

Among the dangers of Goan beaches are quite intense underwater currents passing a couple of hundred meters from the shore and sea snakes and other reptiles of varying degrees of toxicity. Therefore, before choosing this or that beach for yourself, you should pay attention to Goa reviews from those who have already been lucky enough to vacation in this part of magnificent India.

Beaches of North Goa

Candolim

Candolim, located 45 km from international airport Goa is one of the most uncharacteristic beaches in the northern part of the state. This is one of the most respectable resorts with expensive hotels and villas for rent.

Candolim, unlike the most famous beach in the state, is a calm and uncrowded place, so the bulk of vacationers on the beach are those who came here for the quiet family vacation. Despite the fact that the approach to the water here is somewhat steeper than on other beaches, it is suitable for families with children - it is quite clean here, and the entry into the water is very gentle and stretches for several tens of meters.

Calangute

Calangute Beach is located about fifty kilometers from the international airport in Goa. This beach is perhaps the most famous and “party” beach in all of Goa - not only tourists, but also locals relax here, and the noise does not subside day or night.

Calangute stretches along the coast for seven kilometers, turning into an equally noisy and crowded beach. The whole of Calangute is literally lined with a variety of restaurants, sun loungers, umbrellas and other things necessary for a comfortable stay. This beach is not suitable for families with children - it is noisy, crowded, and the cleanliness of the sea and sand leave much to be desired.

Arambol

Aramabol, about 60 km from Goa International Airport, is practically the northernmost beach in this part of the state. Its length is about 16 km, during which sand is replaced by small pebbles, and salty ocean waters are replaced by fresh lagoons.

Arambol is a rather secluded beach, but there are many restaurants and cafes here. But large quantity There are no hotels here - as a rule, tourists live here in rented private bungalows and houses, many of which are located right on the beach.

Arambol beach is loved by, as they say, “creative” people - here, like nowhere else in Goa, you can meet a lot of colorful characters.

Mandrem

Mandrem is located not far from Arambol, but differs from it in silence and a small number of vacationers. This beach is great for families with children - the sand here is fine and clean, and the entry into the water is gentle.

There are no numerous merchants on the beach vying with each other to offer their goods, but there are no shekis - small restaurants with delicious dishes There is quite a lot of local and not only cuisine.

Mandrem offers many accommodation options - from expensive hotels with a high level of service, to bungalows and guesthouses that can be rented inexpensively for a long time.

(Morjim)

Morjim, the most “Russian” beach in the northern part of Goa, is 60 km away from the international airport. A wide strip of beach covered with gray sand stretches for three kilometers along the shore of the Arabian Sea.

Morjim hotels are some of the most expensive in this part of the state, and the local restaurants are also not a budget traveler's dream. However, this does not prevent numerous tourists from spending not even weeks, but months here - and some even live here permanently.

Thanks to the wind, there is an opportunity for surfing and kiting on the beach, but underwater currents make Morjim not the best place for families with children, especially small ones.

Anjuna

Anjuna Beach, one of the most “party” places in Goa, is located about fifty kilometers from the state’s international airport. This beach is absolutely not suitable for a quiet and relaxing holiday - it is always noisy and crowded.

The beach strip is not very wide, but if you wish, you can find a place for a sun lounger and an umbrella. However, Anjuna is not very convenient for swimming, especially at low tide, when the entrance to the sea is strewn with sharp stones.

Vagator

Vagator, another beach in the northern part of the state, is located near bustling Anjuna. Unlike its neighbor, this beach is less crowded, and after ten o'clock in the evening all local establishments close.

Vagator cannot boast of a developed infrastructure - there are not a large number of sheks here, and hotels are located hundreds of meters from the beach. Vacationers with children are unlikely to be comfortable here, since there are no lifeguards on the beach, and the entry into the water is quite steep even for adults.

Baga

Baga is located in close proximity to the busiest beach in northern Goa -. Actually, the border between these two beaches is quite arbitrary, and you can get from one to the other on foot in literally five minutes.

In addition to its vibrant nightlife, Baga is famous for its unusual sand brown, against which giant black stones stand out. Baga is not the best place for a holiday with children because of the noise and the steep entrance to the sea, but thanks to the river flowing right along the beach, the youngest travelers still have a place to swim.

Ashwem

Ashvem is one of the most “sparsely populated” beaches in North Goa, located approximately 60 km from the international airport. The beach cannot boast of a developed infrastructure and discos that are so popular in this part of the state - rather, it is suitable for those who crave privacy. Even in the high season, there are very few vacationers on Ashvem, and during the off-season you can only occasionally meet local residents here.

There are few accommodation options near the beach, and the cost of living in both hotel rooms and beach bungalows is lower than in the neighboring one, but higher than the average for the northern part of the state.

Tirakol

Tiracol, located about 70 km from Goa International Airport, is the northernmost beach of the state. In addition, this is the wildest and most “uncivilized” beach with an almost complete lack of infrastructure, apart from a single hotel and an equally lonely cafe.

It is impossible to get to Tiracol by land - first you need to get to Kerim beach, which is next to Arambol, and then cross a small river by ferry.

Beaches of South Goa

Colva

Colva, the most popular beach in southern Goa, is located almost 70 km from Dabolim International Airport. This beach is somewhat similar to its northern “competitors” - here, unlike most southern beaches, there is nightlife.

Colva is a fairly large beach, but only its central part is crowded - walking half a kilometer in any direction you can find many quiet places where there are practically no vacationers - both local residents and tourists.

Varca

Varca, one of the most beloved beaches of South Goa by tourists, is located 30 km from the state’s international airport. The beach stretches for eight kilometers along the shore of the Arabian Sea, and, despite the abundance of vacationers, it is considered one of the cleanest and most well-groomed in Goa.

The beach is perfect for families with children - the sand here is fine and without “pleasant” surprises in the form of stones and shell fragments, and the entry into the water is quite gentle. The beach will also be good for those who love peace and quiet in the evening - there are no discos or noisy crowded parties here.

(Cavelossim)

Cavelossim, which is about forty kilometers from Goa International Airport, is considered one of the most, so to speak, prestigious beaches in the resort state. A wide eight-kilometer strip of the beach is covered with light sand, and in general Cavelossim, unlike many Goan beaches, is very well maintained and clean. The bulk of vacationers in these places are wealthy Europeans and Russians.

The nightlife here is almost as vibrant as in the resorts of northern Goa. In the evenings, vacationers are entertained variety of shows, and at night noisy discos begin on the beach, attracting tourists from all the surrounding beaches.

Utorda

Utorda, located 20 km from Goa International Airport, is one of the most idyllic beaches on the entire southern coast. A wide strip of white sandy beach is bordered on three sides by tall palm trees, creating excellent shade.

There are practically no young people on the beach; as a rule, older Europeans and families with children relax here. Utorda is well suited for a family holiday; it is quiet, peaceful, and in the evenings there are no noisy parties and discos.

Majorda

Majorda, 20 km from Goa International Airport, is a thirty-kilometer strip of beaches stretching along the coast of the Arabian Sea. Majorda includes several villages, including Utorda, Colva, Varga, Benaulim and others, connected by bus routes.

This resort strip is considered the best place for a holiday in Goa with children, since the beaches here are sandy, the entrance to the sea is convenient even for children, and the hotels are designed for family accommodation.

Benaulim

Benaulim, which is only 30 km from Goa International Airport, is one of the quietest and most secluded places in South Goa. There are no noisy parties here, and most of the shops and shops that are open from seven in the morning close quite early, so life on the beach comes to a standstill at night.

Benaulim beach is well suited for families with children - it is clean, the beach strip at low tide is very wide, and the sand is fine and clean. However, there are no hotels above 3*, so the living conditions may not be comfortable enough.

Cola

Kola, more than 60 km away from the airport, is one of the most secluded even by the standards of South Goa. There are very few tourists here, but the infrastructure is quite developed for such a non-tourist place. Get to the beach by public transport It’s not possible, but from Agonda you can get to Kola by taxi or rented bike.

Despite the privacy and silence, the beach is not suitable for families with children due to the steep entry into the water and the stones that abound in the light sand that covers Kola.

Agonda

To get to Agonda from Goa International Airport, you will have to travel more than 70 km. However, judging by the reviews of travelers, it is worth it - Agonda is famous for its beauty and relative privacy - as much as the beaches of Goa can be called secluded. However, even the abundance of tourists will not interfere with your vacation - the beach is about three kilometers long, so finding a deserted place is quite easy.

Agonda is great for families with children - the Andaman Sea in this part of the state is very calm, the fine, almost white sand does not present surprises in the form of sharp stones, and entry into the water is convenient even for the smallest tourists.

Palolem

Palolem is the southernmost beach of South Goa, from which the airport is more than 70 km away. Palolem, which is quite rare for the beaches of this Indian state, is perfect for families with children, as it is located in a bay protected from winds that bring high waves. The entrance to the water here is very smooth, and the sand is almost completely free of sharp stones.

The length of the beach is about two kilometers, but its width, especially at high tide, is quite small. There is no need to count on privacy here, since Palolem is full of not only tourists and local residents, but also numerous merchants.

The beaches of southern Goa are slightly different from the beaches of northern Goa, and therefore many tourists are interested in the question of where to go as a couple, with children, or where is it better for older people to go on vacation so that their vacation is complete and unforgettable. We will now consider the description of the beaches of the south and north.

Beaches of South Goa

Southern region is the most quiet and calm and, accordingly, the beaches here are the most beautiful, clean and the best. Let's look at the most popular beaches in south Goa. The beach season begins in November, and resort hotels begin to fill with tourists. You can get to many beaches by city bus.

Cola is an isolated and calm beach, which is divided in the middle by a cape. There is an indescribably beautiful fresh lake and beautiful natural views. You can rent a thatched hut at this beach.

Neighboring Agonda beach has more options for renting bungalows, although in terms of quality of relaxation it is inferior to Kolya. This is a three-kilometer long white sand beach, surrounded by palm trees and several restaurants.

Palolem is one of the best and most beautiful beaches in Goa. Here you will find snow-white sand, many bars and restaurants. Just a few years ago this beach was sparsely populated, but now there are many shacks here, and you can also rent a room for relaxation. Here you can go fishing and admire the frolicking dolphins.

Colva is the main tourist center, although there are slightly fewer tourists here than in Calangute. This is a fairly well-known resort, dotted with colonial-style villas and small fishermen's houses. It is safe to swim here and that is why many come here with children.

Cavelossim is a small resort town located between the Indian Ocean and the Sal River. Wealthy tourists from Europe relax here, who prefer high level comfort and some degree of privacy. Hotels here have their own beach, which is rented from the state.

Cooking is a small village with a white Catholic church, upscale hotels and small shops. This beach has a wide coastline, white sand and clear sea. There are also no rocks or pitfalls, which contributes to excellent beach holiday. Here you will not find nightclubs and discos, so you can diversify your holiday with the help of health and cosmetic procedures, which offer all-inclusive resort hotels.

Benaulim located 7 km from Margao and 2 km from Colva. This beach is popular among those who love small cozy cafes and shady alleys. Dolphins here swim close to the shore. You can rent scooters and bicycles on the beach.

Beaches of North Goa

Calangute is a small town in the north of Goa, one of the most popular resorts and the former capital of the “hippies”. It is quite fun and noisy here during peak hours, so few people choose this beach for children's holidays. There are also a lot of diverse audiences who gather here big companies near the sea.

Morjim also called the “Russian settlement”, since about 80% of vacationers are Russian tourists. Indian traders know a lot of Russian words, which help them sell their souvenirs. There are even Russian restaurants here with dumplings, borscht and pancakes. Also on the beach there are many Russian guesthouses, schools of yoga, Ayurveda, restaurants and even kindergartens for Russian children. Hotels offer a variety of services, including an all-inclusive system.

Mandrem is a small beautiful village located between two beaches, Ashvem and Arambol, which are among the best on the north coast of Goa. It has everything you need for a relaxing and relaxing holiday, from a white sand beach and clear sea to upscale hotels. Many people vacation in Mandrem married couples with small children, since the wide coastal strip and convenient descent into the sea make children’s holidays enjoyable and complete.

Ashvem can be called one of the least crowded beaches in Goa, so its rare tourists can thoroughly enjoy the silence and clean beaches with fine yellow sand. There are no rocks here like on other beaches, but the large boulders that lie on the very shore of the sea add picturesqueness.

Arambol is the largest and most suitable village for tourism. Mostly savages like junkies, hippies, trancers and freaks like to relax here. IN daytime here they fly kites into the air, ride boats and kites, and in the evenings they do yoga and meditate. During high season it gets quite crowded. Wide coastline and green palm groves create an excellent atmosphere for relaxation.

Candolim attracts tourists with its respectability, quiet and relaxing holiday. Its structure is more similar to the beaches of the south. There are even two luxury hotels of the Taj Group built here. The disadvantage of the beach is the very steep descent to the sea.

Baga is a small beautiful beach with several hotels. There is even a river called Baga, where kids love to swim. Recently, a Saturday evening market began to be organized in Baga.

Anjuna- this is a big center cultural life Goa, where the best nightclubs such as Paradise and Dolce Vita are open. Here is the busiest beach with clean white sand, and on Wednesdays the most famous flea market in the resort is open, where you can buy a variety of Indian souvenirs.

Vagator, which is located next to Anjuna, is not so noisy and party-oriented, but you still won’t be bored there.

Betalbatim is a beach that is surrounded by pine trees and located 2 kilometers from Majorda. There are several restaurants and inexpensive guesthouses here.

Arpora is a respectable and calm resort, which is famous for its beautiful beaches with the atmosphere of pristine, untouched nature. White sand and the warm waves of the sea combined with coconut palms create a real fairy tale called "Bounty".

If you want to visit a lot interesting places(Jaipur, Delhi and Agra), then the Golden Triangle excursion will give you this opportunity.

You can see all the beaches of Goa on the map on our website, and usually a complete map of the beaches is always located in any of the resort hotels. There are also nudist beaches in Goa, which you can find out about on the beach map.

Goa is a small state, completely different from the rest of India. There are about 40 beaches with typical infrastructure for any coast. This area is divided into two parts - South and North Goa. Beaches and hotels vary somewhat. The latter region is considered acceptable for a budget traveler. But here is the most beautiful coastline, divided into separate resorts and villages. This place is popular among freelancers, because it is always warm and accommodation is relatively inexpensive.

Which beach to choose and when is the best time to go?

The beaches of North Goa have a lot in common, but still have many differences. You should not approach the issue of choosing a place to stay carelessly and base it only on the price and comfort of the hotel. Not all the coast can boast of cleanliness and developed infrastructure.

As they say, there is no bad weather in Goa: the atmospheric temperature almost never drops below +30 degrees. However, there is a rainy season. The drier period is from November to March, even the humidity level during this season is slightly lower (60-70%). Water temperature is from +27 to +29 degrees.

This is a whole 2 kilometers of North Goa beach in India. It is suitable for those who do not like huge crowds of people; the place is quite remote from all other beaches. It is quiet here at night, and there are very few vacationers during the day. The sand is a soft beige color, and instead of palm trees there are casuarinas (coniferous trees). Due to the lack of an influx of tourists, the coast is very clean. You can stay in a guest house and eat in a cafe, although there are few of them, as well as shops. The beach is separated from the state of Maharashtra by a river, above the bed of which is the Tirakol fort.

The disadvantages include the fact that it is not suitable for families with children, the depth begins almost immediately, and there are often waves. The infrastructure is undeveloped, there are not even rescuers. Another disadvantage: it’s quite difficult to get here; even buses don’t go to the village.

Reviews about holidays on this beach are mostly positive, only vacationers warn that there are many undercurrents in the sea. And if you drive from Arambol, you can admire the unprecedented beauties of India. The coastline is not completely “wild”; there are sun loungers and shakes.

Arambol

The first vacationers in this place were hippies. Much time has passed since those times, and the village is no longer so isolated. Travelers here are predominantly budget travelers and of all nationalities.

Conventionally, the beach is divided into two parts: Arambol (south) and Kalacha or Harmal (north). You can get to Kalacha only on foot (about 20 minutes). It's quite secluded. While walking to the place, you can admire the rock formations.

One of the best beaches in North Goa is Arambol, this is where you can learn to sing folk songs and play tabla. Here you can undergo a whole course of wellness treatments - from Ayurvedic massage to yoga, or get a traditional Indian tattoo. This place is suitable for party lovers and for those who dream of paragliding. There are a huge number of clubs on the beach. The pluses include the fact that accommodation here is very cheap, there are many inexpensive catering establishments and even lifeguards, although not always.

But there are also disadvantages. The beach is quite dirty. Arambol is not suitable for single girls who are not looking for adventure.

There are a lot of reviews about holidays on this beach and they are all contradictory, some really didn’t like it, while others were delighted, in other words, you have to come here and see everything for yourself.

Mandrem

According to reviews of the beaches of North Goa, Mandrem is a very calm place. The coastline is long and there are practically no stones on it. Here you can meet Bollywood stars and stay in a five-star hotel. The minimum cost to stay in a beach house is $20.

This is an ideal place for families with children, although there are sometimes waves suitable for surfing. The beach is clean and there are always lifeguards. The shore is sandy, without vegetation. There are many bridges over the Mandrem stream. Housing can be found to suit any budget.

However, the infrastructure here is poorly developed. Many tourists write that there is a huge disadvantage: at low tide you have to walk a long time to reach the depths.

Ashvem

This is a kind of continuation of Mandrem beach. However, this is already a party resort, with a huge number of clubs. In principle, for this reason, the coastline is not always clean. Hotels for every taste and budget, average cost- 30 dollars per day. The infrastructure is also not very developed. The shore is sandy, there are rarely strong waves.

Morjim

A very beautiful beach in North Goa, but only part of the coastline is allocated for tourists. In the old days, olive turtles nested here. IN recent years The Indian government began to care about animals, so part of the beach was set aside for this endangered species.

Another feature of this coast is the huge number of Russian-speaking tourists. This place is also called “Little Russia”; almost all the signs here are duplicated in Russian. It was thanks to the Slavs that the village of Morjim became known throughout the world. But for this reason, it will not be possible to experience the peculiarities of the Goan atmosphere here. The infrastructure on the coast is not very developed, the food is of dubious quality, there is a lot of garbage, and this is a huge minus.

Pros: availability of lifeguards, choice of accommodation for any budget.

At the same time, according to reviews from tourists, this is an ideal place for families with children; even 3-month-old babies are brought here.

Vagator

This North Goa beach is another party spot, almost the same as Arambol. Although it is also popular among the local population. It consists of three parts:

  1. Chapora.
  2. Discovalley or Tel Aviv. It is the most popular among partygoers. This is where the noisiest parties take place, so the coast is quite dirty. The second name was given because Israelis come here.
  3. Ozran. There are always a lot of Italians here, so the beach got popular name"Spaghetti". There are many stones on the shore.

I am glad that there are rescuers and a well-developed infrastructure here. There are plenty of parking spaces for visitors who have rented cars. Excellent selection of hotels and bungalows.

But for people who don’t like rocky shores, the beach is not suitable, and this is a huge minus. In addition, it is quite dirty and very crowded with vacationers. It is not recommended for single girls to relax.

Anjuna

It is a multicultural place with constant parties and plenty of nightlife options. However, the coastal area is dirty, where there are always many traders. The shore is rocky. But in the village there is a lot of cheap housing - from 10 dollars per night.

According to reviews from Russian vacationers, the beach is very reminiscent of the Black Sea coast, there are too many merchants.

Baga

Baga Beach (North Goa) is the second place after Anjuna, which was once chosen by hippies. It still reminds me of Ibiza today. A place exclusively for lovers of clubs and shopping. You can buy almost everything in the village, the main thing is that you have money.

The coastline is long, smoothly turning into Calangute Beach. Here you can meet British people and local population, there are lifeguards and good infrastructure.

The disadvantages include a huge number of beggars and small traders. Because of large number For tourists, the coastline is very dirty, and there is constant noise on the beach.

Calangute

A resort that is more reminiscent of a bustling Indian city. This is the best beach in North Goa and is popular even in the rest of India. It is here that anyone will find entertainment for themselves. People come here even to visit the market with goods from Tibet. The choice of places to stay is so huge that you can safely not book a hotel before arriving. There are many rickshaws and taxis in the village. However, the beach is quite dirty, crowded and noisy, which is confirmed by reviews from tourists.

Candolim

Not a single tourist catalog or website can do without a description of the North Goa Candolim beach; most often, reviews from vacationers can be found specifically about vacations on this coast. It is believed that this is a heavenly place in all of India. There are fashionable hotels here, wealthy tourists come here. There are relatively few people on the beach, but there is always an influx of people new year holidays. It is on these days that the Festival is held electronic music. Prices for accommodation and food in Candolim are quite high, but girls should not worry alone, you can relax here unaccompanied.

As vacationers write, it is quiet and peaceful here, but sometimes it can be boring, since there is no entertainment.

Sinquerim

It borders Candolim and is famous for its Taj Hotel. People also come here to see the Portuguese fort of Aguada and the prison. There are few people here, so the coastline is fairly clean. The infrastructure is within walking distance, but accommodation here will cost a pretty penny if we talk about luxury hotels (about $200), but you can find accommodation for $40, although it will not be on the seashore.

Miramar

Here beautiful sunsets, that's why this place is called the most beautiful beach in North Goa. It is also in this area that Portuguese architecture has been preserved. Almost every cafe on the shore serves exclusively traditional national dishes. Therefore, in the reviews you can find recommendations that lovers of spicy dishes should definitely go here and go to Shek.

The beach and shore are not suitable for safe swimming, so you can often meet the local population here rather than tourists. Although there are rescuers working on the shore.

This is where the magnificent hotels and beaches of North Goa are. The village faces the city of Vasco de Gama and is located on the top. In addition to hotels, the resort has many private villas with private beaches. The infrastructure in the village is ideally developed and the atmosphere is completely different from the north and south coasts of Goa. The beaches are clean, but hotel accommodation is expensive.

Tiracol

This is the northernmost beach of Goa - an ideal place for a secluded and relaxing holiday. There is practically no civilization here, so it is better to rent a motorbike. Among the attractions is the medieval fort of the same name, which now operates as a fashionable boutique hotel.

What to do on vacation

Indeed, photos of the beaches of North Goa turn out to be very beautiful, but you can’t take pictures all the time or swim in the warm sea, lie on a sun lounger, drink local drinks and go to parties.

India is a rather specific country, completely different from Turkey or Egypt. It is still difficult to find an all-inclusive place to stay here today. Goa was discovered by people seeking freedom and tired of stereotypes. This trend is still observed today, even despite the influx of tourists.

So what can you do while on vacation? For example, paragliding or riding a jet ski or kite. Naturally, Goa is a paradise for party goers. This is where those who like to communicate and make new acquaintances will enjoy it. After all, people come here from all over the planet, and these are people with their own perception of the world, who are always ready to tell everyone about themselves.

Are you on holiday with your loved one? Then have a Vedic wedding, with full observance of all ancient rituals.

Once in India, you should not miss the opportunity to take up yoga from a real expert in his field or learn traditional dances.

If you want to combine your holiday with useful activity, which will even bring money, then take up shooting, that is, filming episodes of Bollywood films. This is unconventional and very interesting. You can find recruitment advertisements near cafes and supermarkets. They won’t pay a lot (1-1.5 thousand rupees), but you can get new experience and have a lot of fun.

You can ride a bike, because this is India, where there is magnificent nature, winding paths along which trees grow entwined with vines.

As locals and seasoned tourists joke: “The most unique entertainment in India is interacting with dogs and cows on the beach.” Indeed, no matter how different the beaches of North Goa are in their characteristics, they are all united by the presence of domestic animals on the coast and, accordingly, the deterioration of the environmental situation. Therefore, you should not compare Goa with other resorts, because this is something unique, something that cannot be seen anywhere else.
