Mariam Turkmenbaeva from Quest Pistols Show is not in danger of having a nervous breakdown over such trifles. Her profile is a kaleidoscope of live and sincere shots with friends, family, cats, dogs and quotes from great people. We know for sure that she doesn’t have time to pore over production shots, because now she’s in the midst of a rehearsal large-scale show, which will take place on November 28 at Stereo Plaza. A girl originally from Sevastopol joined the Quest Pistols team last year just before the premiere of the dance hit “Santa Lucia”. Before that, she worked as the main choreographer of the group, and even earlier participated in the first season of the television project “Everyone Dances,” studied dance in New York and Los Angeles, and in 2012, together with her boyfriend Evgeny Kot, won the “Battle of the Seasons. Everyone dances." Mariam: I like to communicate with people through Instagram, using photos to convey my state today or minutes, perhaps, to inspire someone with your dance excerpts. I am not ashamed to show people that I am a simple person and in my life an important role, first of all, is assigned to close and loved ones, and only then to the “costs” of the profession: parties, bonuses, interviews, etc...
Initially, I registered on Instagram to keep in touch with friends and family from other cities and countries at a distance, and after a certain time, the number of my subscribers increased significantly, and I realized that it was very cool to motivate and inspire people using such a simple application.

For some, dancing is a calling, for others it remains just a dream. Five girls shared their stories of how they overcame fear and signed up to participate in dance shows. You will be surprised how much their lives have changed after this.
1. Rumer Willis - from ugly duckling into the stars

3. Irina Pegova - accidents are not accidental
Irina I doubted for a long time whether to participate in the dance show or not. She decided that she would try, but she wouldn't stay there long. However, everything turned upside down in such a way that they simply did not want to let the girl and her partner leave the project. No couple has ever stayed in first place for so long. Of course, it was very difficult for Irina to combine favorite activity with her main job, but she succeeded. Today she is a role model.
4. Galina Garmash, born in a tutu
Galina as a child she asked her mother to send her to ballet school. It seemed to Gala that this dance was graceful, beautiful, feminine. Then the girl grew up and decided to try her hand at the Russian Ballet show. It was hard, but the girl successfully passed all the difficulties and achieved an excellent result.

Today QPS is Washington Salles, Ivan Krishtoforenko,Daniil Matseychuk and the only (and very extravagant) girl − Mariam Turkmenbaeva(26), who joined the team in 2014. We spoke to Mariam about her quirky look, her love for dancing and how she ended up on QuestPistolsShow.

Tell us about your childhood.
I'm from Sevastopol. Only now have I begun to realize how lucky I was to spend my entire childhood by the sea. I am sure that it was nature that influenced my development.
My family is small: mom, dad and sister. I call my father as a joke Tibetan monk. He works as a physical education teacher at school and, in addition to his own daughters, has raised and educated dozens of children: even now, his students often write to me on social networks when they see a photo of us together. They lovingly call him Demegenych. Where does this middle name come from? My grandfather was Kazakh, and I am very proud that Eastern blood flows in my veins.
My whole family is unique. And I am eternally grateful to her for the fact that since childhood I was surrounded by love, care and was always free to choose.
How did dancing appear in your life and how did you realize that you wanted to do it professionally?
When I was about six years old I saw the film for the first time Luc Besson Dancer. It was then that my passion for dancing began.
All people dance - this talent is inherent in each of us, but the question is how much we want to show it.
I started dancing professionally at the age of 12. I liked hip-hop since childhood, its heavy beats acted on me like a drug. That’s why the first style I started practicing was hip-hop. And if someone had told me then that I would dance almost all existing styles, including classical ballet, I would laugh in this man's face. At the age of 16, I took a ticket to Kyiv, met there Yuri Bardash, show ballet producer Quest, and went to dance with him, and two years later she took part in the show “ Everyone dances!».

Tell us about participating in the show “Everybody Dance!” (Ukrainian adaptation of the British show “So You Think You Can Dance?”, in which anyone can prove themselves as a talented dancer). What did it give you professionally?
Show " Everyone dances!“For me it’s like the seven circles of hell (Mariam became a participant in the show in 2008. – Note edit.). But, having gone through them, I found an inner core that, I am sure, cannot be broken. “Everyone is dancing!” – a project about what a person is capable of for the sake of his dream. At the end of the show, I took third place.
I know that you met with your partner Evgeniy Kot. Are you still together?
When I decided to take part in the project for the second time ( “Everyone is dancing! Return of the Heroes". There Mariam won the title of best dancer of Ukraine together with Evgeniy Kot.− Note edit.), I had only one goal - to win. I didn't plan to start a relationship with any of the participants. But, apparently, the energy of creativity decided everything for me: when you spend every day for three months alone with a person, you become one. And you can no longer resist, especially when your partner is not just beautiful, but also absolutely sincere with you and others.
I still love Zhenya, but we are not together. Over the years, I began to look at love a little more broadly. The feelings that arose strengthened our couple - when you love, it’s like a “superpower” bonus in computer game. (Smiling.)

How did you get involved in QuestPistolsShow? Tell us about working in this team.
Yuri Bardash, our producer, invited me to the QuestPistols Show in 2014. Even when I lived in Sevastopol, my friend showed me a video, which later largely changed my view of dance. Strength, crazy energy, emotions, uniqueness - everything that was so close to me, but that I could not find in my native Sevastopol. So I started dancing in the middle famous ballet Ukraine Quest, which years later transformed into QuestPistols.
You not only dance, but also sing. Tell us about your singer's career.
I can't say that first of all I am a singer. I am an artist creative person, exploring new facets, and at the moment vocals are one of the vectors of my movement. And I regard each such vector as a personal experiment. The goal always remains the same - development, an attempt to inspire people. If I succeed, then I'm on the right track. I move with the flow of the universe and feel happy, because tomorrow I can devote myself to something new.
Are you preparing any projects now that we will see soon?
Certainly! November 4 in Moscow concert hall « Izvestia Hall» we present our new album « Favorite", we will soon shoot a video for the title track of the same name. This will be a completely new QuestPistolsShow.
« Favorite“is the soundtrack of this fall, and perhaps your entire life. I want to believe in this because I dream that people believe in pure love, real. And “Lubimka” is something more than love.
What music do you like to dance to the most?
Depends on my mood and what I want to fill myself with today. Dance for me is something more than training the body, work or entertainment. This is a meditation with which I enrich myself various forms vital energy: feminine, masculine, sexy, militant, pacifying... This is my strength, my creativity, and therefore my life.

You did everything possible with your hair: dreadlocks, bob, blonde, and dark color. What changes were the most dramatic?
My “favorite” topic is hairstyles! I understand that people are impressed by the speed with which I change my image. I started experimenting at the age of 13, when I first dyed my parting blue. Then, a month later, I already had an ashen hedgehog, and then, as they say, it went from there...
Probably this is a search for oneself and an unwillingness to stand still. When I stay in one image for a long time, something dies inside me. I am a river by nature, and I need constant movement, I will stop only when I get to my ocean.
What was your first tattoo and what is the meaning of all the designs on your body?
And again the same age - 12-13 years. How interesting: I answer the question and am surprised myself at how my self-expression suddenly began to manifest itself in all directions at the same time.
The first was the hieroglyph “love”, inspired by the image Angelina Jolie, I have always admired this cosmic woman. All my tattoos are certain meaning, and, despite their imperfections in execution, I love each one, because it is a memory of a period of life and the feelings experienced then. With them, it’s like I’m traveling back in time and experiencing everything hidden again. Exactly at the moment dramatic changes and new drawings appear on my body.

Anton: As a teenager it was more of a hobby; for a long time I just had fun copying Michael Jackson. No one could have imagined that this would eventually develop into something serious. But over time, I realized that I find myself in this much more than in any other activity or entertainment. From the age of sixteen, dancing became my way of life.

Vanya: IN kindergarten everyone danced, but I danced the most and my parents noticed it. Until I was 13, I didn’t understand what I was doing, and only then did I realize what an amazing thing it was.

Washington: I guess I just wanted to meet the girl who was dancing. And then somehow everything happened by itself. I was invited to a dance project in France, and I spent 4 months there. During this time, I forgot about the goals for which I came to dance - I just loved it.
Mariam: It's hard to remember the moment when I decided that I would dance. It was probably when I was 6 years old, when I watched the film “Dancer” by Luc Besson, I was very inspired by it main character. I asked my mother to send me to dance, but my parents chose ballroom, which I didn’t really like - I felt a different culture in myself. Already at the age of 12, I found the only club in the city where they taught hip-hop dancing, and I realized that this was mine. And my main teachers were music videos, which I spent all day watching on MTV, learning and repeating all the movements. Now, dancing in “Santa Lucia” and “Wet”, I understand that for some these clips are new home aids. Everything is cyclical.

Nikita: At first I was more interested in breaking, it was also just a hobby. But over time I realized that what I do can be real art, if you look more broadly and understand the philosophy and limitless possibilities of dance.

What does dancing mean now?
Vanya: The most amazing thing is that in all the time I was dancing, I never considered it work or sport. I always do this because it’s fun, everything comes from the heart, from the soul. I love it, and God grant that it never becomes my job.
Anton: Dance is my way of communicating with the world. The way I express myself, the sense of rhythm, movement, emotion - it's all one. Now everything we are has become a dance, embodied in our unique performance of the Quest Pistols Show. We have expressed everything we have discovered about ourselves and dance over the past few years. In the production we combined the best dancers, digital, and new dance music.
Washington: Dance for me is a feeling, it is love.
Mariam: Lifestyle. If you do this professionally, then it simply cannot be otherwise.
Nikita: Only advantages: good spirits, a sense of life and music, healthy body and a daily battle with yourself. Dance is a universal thing, it is a body language in which you can easily declare your love or confess something completely immodest, this is the most high level flirting. This is exactly what our new clip“Wet.
Anton: Listen to yourself, listen to the rhythm of your heart and find it in music. This main secret and the most effective method start really dancing.
Washington: For those who are just starting to dance, I would give advice to pay attention not only to those modern styles, which are popular now, but also the classic ones. Learn history, just watch old movies. This is the foundation that will explain the nature of dance.
Vanya: Dance as much as possible, dance with people, in the streets, at home and in discos. Over time, you will understand everything or just feel it. "Santa Lucia" inspired many to go dancing or wear brighter clothes, showing their character and inner feelings. This is our message.
Mariam: First you need to understand why you want to dance. If you just want to dance at a disco, then you can sign up for a studio and go there 2-3 times a week, maintaining yourself in cool uniform. If you want to make dance your way of life and achieve something in it, then the hall should become your new home. Need to master different styles: classic, hip-hop, contemporary. Watch the video, absorb the culture, carefully analyze the technique and practice. And don’t be lazy at all!
Nikita: Find a few moves that come easy to you and perfect them, don't try to master a whole style or dance. By repeating these few movements, you will create your own style, and you will be able to add more and more new movements to it. This is how technology is formed.
