Applications for guitarists on Android and iOS. Guitar. Everything for beginners and advanced guitarists A program for learning compositions on the guitar

Internet tutorials

As a rule, for the query “guitar tutorial”, search services return hundreds of approximately identical sites representing Internet analogues of paper publications. There's nothing wrong with that: guides like these can give you the necessary theoretical knowledge, teach you how to play songs using tablature and read chord fingerings.

  • GuitarProfy tutorial. Here you can find all the necessary theoretical basis for further self-development, a table of correspondences between notes on the stave and frets of the guitar, as well as examples of classical guitar works.
  • GuitarUser tutorial. A small textbook, written in simple language, that will teach you how to accompany your favorite compositions. Suitable for those who want to sing songs to friends with a guitar, but do not want to become a professional.

YouTube

There are probably as many guitar tutorials on YouTube as there are text textbooks. We advise you to pay attention to those where lessons are taught by reputable musicians, or channels with a significant number of subscribers. For the rest, follow your personal preferences, and we will tell you about two popular Russian-language channels about guitar.

Pima Live

The channel of Anton and Alexey - two St. Petersburg residents who not only share tips on playing and learning, but also invite experts to give exclusive lessons, play instruments and post video reviews of guitars. There are videos for both beginners and advanced guitarists.

GuitaristTV

On this channel, guitarist Pavel posts thorough analyzes of popular compositions on acoustic guitar. The repertoire is wide: from pop hits by Max Korzh to the soundtrack from Interstellar.

Interest clubs "VKontakte"

With VKontakte groups, everything is more complicated: many advanced guitarists do not communicate in the community for beginners, but there are a lot of amateurs who consider themselves pros in such groups. We advise you to be skeptical about professional advice from groups and public pages. But similar interest clubs can be very useful in finding like-minded people, chords and tablatures for songs. Also in such groups you can almost always find advertisements for sales and purchases.

  • « Guitar lovers" One of the most popular groups about the guitar on VKontakte, with more than 120 thousand subscribers. The community has a wall where you can post questions that interest you.
  • « guitar player" Another group with an open wall and a variety of content related to guitar and music.
  • « Guitar and guitarists" Project of flamenco guitarist Alexander Kuindzhi. You cannot publish a post on the wall, but you can ask a question in the discussions.

Programs

Guitar Pro 7/guitar-pro.com

A music editor familiar to many who have dealt with learning melodies from tablature. You can record your tracks of various instruments, export them to MIDI or print them. The program has a metronome, a function for displaying the staff and guitar neck, the ability to record any nuances of articulation and add effects. On the Internet you can find tablatures for Guitar Pro for any famous song. Special sites will help you with your search:

  • 911tabs. An aggregator site that searches the largest libraries of tablature and chords. Here you can find sheet music of all famous foreign songs and even many domestic compositions.
  • GTP-tabs. A huge archive of scores of Russian and foreign songs.

PreSonus Studio One 3 / wikipedia.org

A useful experience for any guitarist is to listen to yourself from the outside. This requires special applications. DAW programs (sequencers) will help you record your compositions, mix guitar tracks and create accompaniment from virtual instruments. There are at least a dozen worthy sequencers. For beginners, we advise you to pay attention to PreSonus Studio One, Steinberg Cubase and Ableton Live.

Applications

Yousician

An interactive tutorial that recognizes notes played on a guitar using a microphone. You can take lessons step by step or focus on learning songs from the library. The gameplay is reminiscent of Guitar Hero, only not colored circles light up in front of you, but numbers indicating the fret on the desired string. The free version of the game has limitations; a premium subscription will cost 332 rubles per month if purchased for a year.

A universal, visual guide for guitarists, complete with tuner and metronome.

What does it take to learn to play a musical instrument? The most important thing, in my opinion, is, of course, ear for music and a sense of rhythm. However, without knowing the structure of the instrument and the basic techniques of playing it, even with one hundred percent ear it will take quite a long time to learn.

If you want to speed up this process, then it will be much easier to do this using a computer if you have special programs at hand. So, today I will introduce you to one very good utility that will help you quickly master such a popular musical instrument as the guitar.

Program Guitar Instructor at its core, it is a universal visual reference for a guitarist. At the same time, two more very necessary functions are integrated into it: a tuner and a metronome. If you have ever been interested in this kind of programs, you will have noticed that there are very few universal programs.

Usually you have to separately install programs for tuning your guitar and learning chords and scales. Here we have everything in one and at the same time completely free!!! Of the paid analogues, the Guitar Power program is closest in functionality to Guitar Instructor. Let's compare the capabilities of both:

Comparison of the Guitar Instructor program with the paid analogue Guitar Power

The disadvantage of Guitar Instructor compared to its paid counterpart, in my opinion, again :), is the lack of a function for constructing your own chords and classifying them. Minor shortcomings also include the lack of voicing of chords and scales, as well as the numbering of fingers with which to press a chord.

The advantages, of course, include a more convenient and beautiful interface and the presence detailed information for each chord or scale.

Installing Guitar Instructor

The program is installed in the standard way. Open the downloaded archive and run the installation exe file. Now we wait until all the files are copied, and after unpacking is complete, the program can be turned on and used.

Guitar Instructor Interface

This is the main window of Guitar Instructor. Here is the beautifully designed main menu. From here we can navigate to one of the program's five components: Chords, Chord Progressions, Scales, Tuner, and Metronome. Let's look at all the sections in order.

The first section, “Chords,” contains more than 600 different chords. They are clearly presented in the form of colored dots on the fingerboard, which correspond to the strings clamped on a certain fret.

Working with Chords

We have the option to choose between standard chords (Regular) and chords with modified bass (Special (Split)). Let's look at working with the “Chords” section using standard (Regular) chords as an example. First, we need to select in the first list the note corresponding to the desired chord (A - A, B - B, C - C, D - D, E - E, F - F, G - G). The second step is to choose the configuration of the chord itself.

To do this, you need to check one of 50 options in the second list. In our case, I decided to choose the A minor chord, which is shown in the screenshot. The strings on the virtual fretboard are listed in order from thickest (6th) at the bottom to thinnest (1st) at the top.

A red cross above the 6th string means that it should not sound during the game (that is, we actually start playing from the fifth string). The marks for the 1st and 5th strings are located outside the fingerboard. This means that they should not be clamped, and they remain “open” (unpressed).

Accordingly, the 2nd string should be clamped on the first fret, and the 3rd and 4th strings on the second fret. That's it - our chord is ready. Pass along the strings from top to bottom - all strings should sound clear. If any of them rattles, it means you haven’t pressed it well enough to the fingerboard or it’s being caught by a neighboring finger. Achieve clear sound.

For each of the standard chords we can get detailed help, which can be very useful. To do this, select the chord you are interested in and click the “More Info” button.

In the window that opens, we will receive information about the name of the chord, its type and designation (the index that is assigned after the capital letter that denotes the main note). The “Steps” field displays the chord triad formula, and the “Recommended Scales” indicates in which scales the selected chord is used most often.

In our case, we can recognize that the minor A chord is symbolized "Am", "Amin" or "A-", is built by lowering the third degree (the "b" here means "flat") and is most often found in minor and blues pentatonic scale, as well as in the Dorian, Phrygian and Aeolian modes.

We figured out the chords. Let's close them and move on to the next section of the program - “Chord Progressions”.

Chord Links

This tab will be of interest to those who want to learn how to play not just individual chords, but entire strings of them. This can be useful when selecting chords for a particular song or even when composing your own compositions.

This section is actually a scale consisting of chords in a certain key and built according to certain rules. For example, let's take the same key of A (A). In the second list we can select the formula by which the chord progression will be calculated.

In pop songs, combinations of natural and harmonic chords are most often used. minor scale, so in the screenshot we will look at the latter. Next to each fret is its formula, which is used to calculate the entire progression.

Note that minor chords appear in the formula as small Roman numerals, and major chords as large ones. Near some minor steps you can also see an asterisk. This means that we are dealing with a diminished chord (dim).

Most popular chords

A small digression on the topic :). If you want, I'll open it little secret about modern songs? Try playing the chord progression “i – iv – V – i” (in the key of A, for example: Am – Dm – E – Am). Reminds me of something? Yes! It is these three chords that are most often played in yard songs! So, if you learn the above-mentioned combination, you will be able to play about 30% of the songs in the yard and chanson style;).

Want more? Then play the link “i – iv – VII – III” (in A: Am – Dm – G – C), and then add the previous link. Another plus 30% of songs guaranteed!!! :))).

Scales

When you are already quite confident in playing chords, you can move on to learning scales. They will help you become more familiar with the guitar fretboard in terms of where to place the right notes, which will give you the ability to eventually play powerful solos in different styles. Go to the “Scales” section.

Here, as in previous cases, we select the key we need, and then in the second list we mark the scale that we want to study. Each scale can contain from 12 to 5 steps. You can find out their number and construction formula by clicking the already familiar “More Info” button.

When learning a scale on the guitar, it is best to start with the bass note itself and play until you reach its octave (the 13th semitone along with the starting note). Then play the same notes in reverse until you get back to the bass you started with.

When you have mastered the scale well within one octave, move on to studying the next octave, and then try to play the scale in two octaves in a row, etc., until you have mastered the entire selected scale. Only then can you move on to studying the next scale and only then will you be able to achieve good results in your playing.

This ends the reference part of the Guitar Instructor program and begins its instrumental part, consisting of a tuner and a metronome. Let's go to the "Tuner" menu.

Tuner

In this version of the program we have the opportunity to tune the guitar in standard “E” tuning. To set up, no additional equipment is required except computer speakers (or headphones) and good hearing :). We simply click on the name of the note we need and it starts to sound. All that remains is to adjust the strings to the standard. In the “File” menu we can see key combinations that are responsible for the sound of a particular note.

In the “Tuning” menu it is currently only available standard setting, however, a new version of the program should be released soon, in which it will be available alternative settings, as well as “fine” tuning via a microphone (the new version will require .NET Framework 3.5 installed).

Metronome

The last thing that Guitar Instructor will please us with is a metronome. Practicing with a metronome develops a sense of rhythm very well, so it will be very useful for beginning guitarists.

Controlling it is quite simple: use the slider to set the desired tempo in the window (the number indicates the number of beats per minute) and press the “Start” button. The rhythm begins to sound, and beats of the measure are counted at the bottom of the window.

The default rhythm time signature is 4/4. If you need to change it, go to the “File” menu.

In the “Time” tab you can set one of three possible sizes: 2/4, 3/4 or 4/4 (in new version More support is expected). You can also change the sound of the metronome clicks in the corresponding “Sound 1” and “Sound 2” tabs.

conclusions

Guitar Instructor pleasantly surprises with its capabilities. With a size of only a couple of megabytes, the program contained almost five fairly high-quality separate full-fledged subroutines.

The intuitive interface allows you to quickly navigate even those who do not know in English, and the presence of such a not very common tool as a chord progression builder will help beginning guitarists quickly learn to apply their theoretical knowledge in practice!

Use Guitar Instructor and you will definitely achieve success in mastering such a wonderful instrument as the guitar. Good luck!!!

Explanatory note

In adolescence, interest in an instrument such as the guitar is especially pronounced. Playing the guitar and in an ensemble is the most mass form active involvement in music. Due to the popularity of this species art, a social order has been formed for fast and high-quality education.

Traditional methods of teaching guitar are not effective enough for club use. Filling requirements require classes in groups rather than individually, which reduces the speed of learning. All interested children are accepted into the club; teenagers are recruited into the association without special selection. The level of development of musical abilities is sometimes reduced to the level of inclinations.

The novelty of the methodology lies in the use of modern computer technologies, teaching techniques that promote musical, creative development teenagers, taking into account their individual capabilities, abilities, safety of the contingent:

  • selection of works taking into account the interests and hobbies of students.
  • studying tablature, the most convenient recording for learning melodies
  • mastering the musical computer program “Guitar pro” for learning parts in an ensemble

Goal and tasks

Target: accelerated learning to play the guitar using the Guitar Pro program

Tasks:

  • teach how to use the Guitar Pro program
  • develop an internal ear for music, a sense of rhythm, the ability to improvise and create
  • cultivate diligence, perseverance, independence, responsibility, ability to work in a team

Psychological and pedagogical explanation of the specifics of perception and mastery of educational material by students in accordance with age characteristics

Features of this age are associated with the peak of puberty. This is the period when there is a desire to break free from the control of adults and assert oneself as an individual. At this time, the teenager needs communication among peers, which brings the teenager into companies, sometimes even unfavorable ones. At this moment, the effectiveness of group classes manifests itself, where children are brought together by common interests, common causes, and there is an opportunity to realize their strengths and express themselves in the creative field. Thinking becomes more systematized. It is characterized by a transition to highest level development - theoretical, formal-logical. Main core cognitive development at this age, thinking in concepts begins: the formation of abstract concepts takes place, making it possible to reveal deeper connections between objects and phenomena of reality, to understand the patterns that govern reality.

A distinctive feature of adolescence is an internal inclination towards creative expression, an internal tendency towards productivity, this manifests itself in the form of composing poems, songs, diaries, etc., in the creation of a certain love ideal.

The fantasy of a teenager is more creative than the fantasy of a child, although less productive than the fantasy of an adult.

What is essentially new in the development of fantasy in adolescence is precisely that the adolescent’s imagination comes into close connection with thinking in concepts, it is intellectualized, included in the system of intellectual activity and begins to play a completely new function in new structure personality of a teenager.

We can say that creative images created by a teenager’s fantasy perform for him the same function that works of art performed for an adult. This is art for yourself.

The free participation of everyone and the encouraging atmosphere of preparation for the fight awaken ingenuity and humor in those students who seemed to have none. Many show themselves as organizers: students, as a rule, themselves select performers and establish the order of summing up results, find necessary materials. Carrying out this kind of games turns out to be not just entertainment for students, but one of the most exciting things.

Their disposition to improvise is very noticeable. For example, in the first year of study, in order to convey the character of a piece of music or some image, they try to theatricalize their performance. And in the third year of study, when the children have already mastered basic course and have perfected their playing technique, they enjoy improvising in solo parts and compose melodies and songs themselves.

However, the inability to realize one's creative potential, turning your ideas into reality can lead to the manifestation of other qualities characteristic of a given age period, for example, stubbornness, selfishness, isolation, withdrawal, and outbursts of anger. That’s why it’s so important to take care of the spiritual world and the manifestation of teenagers’ feelings.

Creating conditions for creativity, the opportunity to discover new things for creative search and self-expression, as social factors, play an important role in the development of creative abilities of adolescents. They (these conditions) can either slow down, block creativity, or contribute to its manifestation.

throughout educational process the guys learn not only professional skills but also the ability to be friends, help each other, respect and appreciate both themselves and those around them, and most importantly - to love each other, to love the beautiful, to love their HOMELAND. The formation of youth as patriotic individuals is important and necessary today. Therefore, a lot of attention in the program is paid specifically to Russian, Soviet and modern Russian music.

Conceptual Framework

Work with teenagers in the musical association “Voice Strings” is based on general humanistic and artistic-pedagogical principles:

  1. The principle of humanization. Personality is nurtured by personality. Humanistic pedagogical interaction involves personal growth teachers and students, their joint personal development, creating favorable conditions for identifying and cultivating individually specific elements of general and special talent in each child.
  2. The principle of harmonization of personality and environment. Development of interests, abilities, formation of a personality that will be in unity with the world, people and with oneself.
  3. The principle of activity and consciousnessis expressed in the fact that it is necessary to accustom the child to pose questions, both in front of the teacher and for independent answers and solutions.
  4. The principle of visibilityis based on the peculiarities of the development of a child’s thinking, which develops from the concrete to the abstract. Visualization increases the child’s interest in knowledge and makes the learning process easier.
  5. Accessibility principleis expressed in the need to take into account age and individual characteristics students in the learning process and the inadmissibility of its excessive complexity and overload, in which mastery of the studied material may be overwhelming.
  6. The principle of systematicity and consistencylearning involves students’ deep understanding of the logic and system in the content of the knowledge being acquired, as well as systematic work on repetition, systematization and generalization of the material being studied.
  7. The principle of the strength of learning and its cyclical natureassumes that the child performs a full cycle of educational and cognitive actions during the learning process: perceives and comprehends educational material, memorizing it and repeating it.
  8. The principle of motivationthe development of internal motivation involves awareness of the need for training for later life, the process of learning as an opportunity for communication, praise from significant persons, the desire to be the center of attention.
  9. The principle of educational, developmental and educational functions of training:
  • careful preparation of the teacher for classes, selection of material;
  • choosing teaching methods that would activate children's thinking;
  • the connection between theory and practice, learning with the productive work of students, the formation of their views and beliefs.
  1. Principles of interaction:
  • at the level of the relationship between the teacher and the teenager during the lessons;
  • interaction of students as partners in creative activity.

Description of the Guitar Pro program

Guitar Pro program well known to guitarists all over the world. Amazing Features The benefits that this program provides for musicians cannot leave indifferent even “old people” who cannot master modern computer technologies.

What is the program?

Guitar Pro is a sheet music and tablature editor designed for guitarists. This program has become widespread due to the fact that there is a huge library of almost all guitar music on the Internet. Unlike other music editors, which are mainly designed for printing music text, Guitar Pro gives the maximum visual understanding of a guitarist's playing.

The guitarist can see both standard notes, tablature indicating which frets to play certain notes on, and the guitar neck where these notes are reflected. The program has introduced the RSE function, which provides exceptional sound for this type of program. Typing notes can be done either from a midi keyboard (or guitar synthesizer), from a regular computer keyboard, or using a mouse, pointing out notes on the guitar fretboard. Dialing is quick and easy.

To study famous pieces, you can reduce the tempo and simply analyze all the nuances of the virtuoso’s play, bar by beat.

The Guitar Pro program interface is quite simple and easy to use. At the top of Guitar Pro there is the main, so to speak, remote control for working with the program, on which there are various buttons, such as key signs, reprises, note duration, tablature tempo and others. Also, in the same upper part of the program, there is a guitar neck and a piano keyboard, on which, during the playback of tablature, there are indicators that tell you which string, keys on which fret, to take in a given beat.

In the middle part of the program, there is a notation and tablature stave, in which the typing and editing of the tablature itself is carried out. At the bottom of the program Guitar Pro guitar effects and a track panel are located, for creating parts for several instruments, such as bassguitar , drums and many others.

Possibilities:

  • Multi-track recording of guitar and bass guitar parts in the form of tablature; simultaneously with the creation of tablature, a corresponding recording in sheet music is created;
  • A powerful MIDI sheet music editor that allows Guitar Pro to be used not only by guitarists;
  • Builder of tablatures for percussion instruments;
  • Adding lyrics and linking them to the notes of tracks with vocals;
  • Powerful built-in guitar chord builder and finder;
  • Export of created scores into various graphic and text formats, printing;
  • Import from MIDI, MusicXML and others, export to MIDI, WAV;
  • A virtual guitar fretboard and piano keyboard that displays the notes currently being played. They can also be used to create and edit guitar parts;
  • Built-in metronome guitar tuner, a tool for transposing tracks;
  • A variety of instruments for reproducing the notes and sound of typical guitar playing techniques;

Working with Guitar Pro

After loading, there will be a white field with six horizontal lines - this is the designation of the strings, the first from above, the second from below, and all together this is called a track.

As a rule, the composition consists of the consonance of many musical instruments(guitar, bass, drums, etc.). Each instrument produces sounds, the order in which these sounds are played on the working field is indicated by a series of numbers (frets) on six horizontal lines (strings), this is a track, it should be noted that there can only be one for each instrument.

At the bottom, on the left, there is a window, “track properties”, here the track number, name (by clicking on the name, you can change it), instrument (you can also change it in

any time, for example, replace an acoustic guitar with an organ, and so on), here you can also change the volume, balance, etc.

At the top of the work field there are toolbars with shortcuts:

  • Standard. Create, open, save.
  • Settings. Here you change the settings of the program itself, that is, appearance, starting music on boot, etc.
  • Print, preview, cut and copy.Here the program asks from which bar, at which bar it is necessary to insert, add a track

  • Change sound settings.Here you can change the instrument, volume, balance, etc.
  • Tact. Each composition is characterized by the organization of sounds in time. At the same time, the obligatory quality of sounds is their forceful emphasis - accentuation or not accentuation. The periodic alternation of strong and weak sounds, perceived by our ears, makes it possible to dismember musical composition into parts. These parts are called measures; the boundary of the measure in the working field (as on the staff) is marked by a vertical line - a bar line.
  • Time signature. The beat size is indicated by two numbers, which are written one below the other. The top number indicates the number of beats, and the bottom number indicates the duration of each beat of the bar. Open/close reprise. Mark the places from where and to where you need to repeat the playback.
  • Rearrange views.Move the "track properties" field above/below the working field.
  • Note duration.The note duration symbols are indicated here. The basis for determining the duration of sounds is a conventional unit of time, for example one or several seconds. Sounds of different durations are recorded using notes that have different shapes. Let's take one second as a conventional unit of time.
  1. A whole note. The duration of a whole note is measured in four conventional units of time - therefore, equal to four seconds (by tapping these conventional units in Guitar Pro deals with METRON), it is represented by an oval circle.
  2. Half note. The duration of a half note is half as long as a whole note - therefore, it will be measured by counting "one, two". This means that the count of “one, two, three, four” produces two half notes. A half note is represented by an oval circle with the addition of a vertical stick (calm).
  3. Quarter note. The duration of a quarter note is half as long as a half note, that is, equal to one count, which means that the count “one, two, three, four” will account for four quarter notes. A quarter note is represented by a black oval circle with an added stem.
  4. Eighth note. The duration of an eighth note is half as long as a quarter note, which means the count of “one, two, three, four” is eight eighth notes. The eighth note is represented by a black oval circle with the addition of one tail (flag) to the stem.
  5. Sixteenth note. "One, two, three, four" - sixteen sixteenth notes. It is depicted as a black oval circle with two flags added to the calm.
  6. Thirty-second. Similarly. It is depicted as a black oval circle with three flags added to the calm.
  7. Sixty-four. Similarly. It is depicted as a black oval circle with four flags added to the calm.
  • Playback. Play from the beginning, the current measure, from the current position, go to the beginning, to the end, one step back/forward (play the previous/next sound (note)), loop playback (after finishing playing the melody, it will sound from the beginning), metronome.

Progress, in addition to constantly finding more and more new activities for people freed from the need to produce food, also allows us to make significant progress in organizing the process of learning to play the guitar. It’s worth saying here that with the help of modern gadgets and applications, you can develop both technology and theory.

Let's look at 5 applications, some of which did not even exist as physical devices some 50 years ago, and which are now available to literally every musician. I hope many of them are familiar to you, but if not, be sure to add them to your practice arsenal.

#1 Advanced metronome.

Nowadays, simply using a metronome will no longer surprise anyone; they are built into tuners or used as an application on the phone. Some inventive musicians go further and offer not just metronomes, but full-fledged ones at not very exorbitant prices. Separately, there are various applications for iPhone/Android, of which there are already several dozen, if not hundreds.

Just practicing with a metronome can get boring very quickly, so you can use an app or device that can perform more complex patterns. And then just try to use the idea:

  1. Start at a slow tempo with the metronome playing sixteenth notes. Play a rhythmic pattern or riff, and since sixteenth notes are constantly sounding, it will be quite easy for you to navigate in time.
  2. Switch the metronome to play eighth notes. The task should become a little more difficult for you if you are playing a sixteenth note pattern. But there will still be enough supporting eighth notes so you'll feel fairly comfortable.
  3. Switch to quarters. Now it will be even more difficult for you to keep up the pace, but you just need to try.
  4. Try with half notes and then whole notes. If the metronome can't do that, just use quarter notes and a tempo two or four times slower.

With a metronome that can play different beats, you can practice both developing your inner feeling rhythm according to the proposed scheme or come up with some of your own. For example, turn triplets on one beat to sixteenth notes on another and try to play the scale in the same pattern, and then switch to quarter notes in the same way.

No. 2 Programs for slowing down music

#3 video editing programs/video chats

Nowadays there are simply insane amounts of irradiating video available on the Internet. There is, of course, outright garbage, but there are also a lot of good video schools().

Now, if you don’t understand some part of the video, you can always load it into the video editor and play it in circles until you get tired of it. 20 years ago, this would have required the videotape to be completely erased; 50 years ago this would have been impossible, since there were no video schools or VCRs.

I added video chats like Skype here only because they are also related to video, but in essence it’s just a new tool for communicating with a teacher, no matter where you are. That is, you can study either with your friend from the next door, or with Greg Howe or Frank Gambale, depending on the budget, that’s the plot.

I think this is one of the the best tools for the development of a musician. Portable studios appeared en masse in the eighties, but were quite expensive. WITH complete transition digitally and the increasing power of computers, you can record a song at home.

With a DAW, you can write your game during class so that you can later point out your mistakes or take it to a friend or teacher for review. In a DAW, you can use plugins for slowing down, use various ones, make backing tracks or demos, shoot songs and then record your covers using it.

But the most interesting thing is that sound recording is becoming more and more mobile. See what you can do just with Garage Band on iPad and a small audio interface

5. Band-in-a-Box

At some point, there comes a time for every musician when they need to learn how to play songs. This can be solved quite easily now, since for almost all famous guitar compositions you can easily find a backing track.

If you don’t have enough practice with backing tracks, but at the same time you are not strong in writing your own backing tracks using a DAW, Band-in-a-Box becomes the best and, in fact, the only tool for you.

The application is available for PC or MAC platforms, and there is also a version for iPhone.

The main value of Band-in-a-Box is that it is truly a band inside your computer. All you need to do is select the style in which your composition should sound and set the chords (you can skip this step), an arrangement will be generated for you immediately. The application uses MIDI sounds from your sound card, so the sound will not be very good, but no one is stopping you from then exporting the result to a MIDI file and loading it into your DAW, and then using the VST.

In addition to simply arranging, Band-in-a-Box can be used to create melodies.

But what I found even more interesting was the learning function. I found several Jamiroquai backing tracks on the Internet, loaded them into Band-in-a-Box and now I use my Custom style for practice. I would like to think that when I improvise, JK musicians accompany me.

If you have anything to add to the list, share it in the comments.
