On September 21, the “Circle of Light” opens on the Rowing Canal with a multimedia show created by light and laser projections, choreography of fountains and lights, and pyrotechnic effects. Where will the VIII International Festival “Circle of Light”-2018 take place, event program

“Circle of Light” 2018 will open with a big light show. It will take place on September 21 on the Rowing Canal. The organizers promise the audience a real “choreography of fire and fountains”, as well as an enchanting pyrotechnic show.

The festival itself is in this year will pass at seven sites. One of them will be Grand Palace at the Tsaritsino estate. Its façade will feature a vibrant show dedicated to the world's greatest landmarks. Viewers will see the Taj Mahal, Big Ben and other legendary architectural monuments planets. In addition, a light film dedicated to the distant fantastic future will be shown there.

Traditionally, many spectators come to watch the show on Teatralnaya Square. This year on the facades of famous capital theaters- Big, Small and RAMT - they will show a light show about the Roman gladiator Spartacus.

Another festival site will be the Kolomenskoye Nature Reserve. There you can see installations on the theme of children's fairy tales.

A competition of VJs from different countries will take place in the Mir concert hall on Tsvetnoy. They will compete in the skill of creating light projections accompanied by music. And on the Rowing Canal for three days - from September 21 to 23 - you can see the pyrotechnic show “Carnival of Light”.

This year, for the first time, one of the festival sites will be the Victory Museum on Poklonnaya Hill. On the façade of the building they will show a projection of the fleet from the time of Peter I and a reconstruction of the Battle of Kulikovo.

And on the facades of book houses on Novy Arbat from 18:45 until midnight during the festival you can see light patterns and the event logo.

Teams from more than 30 countries take part in the Circle of Light. According to the organizers' calculations, about five million people will watch it in 2018.

CLOSING CEREMONY OF THE FESTIVAL - PYROTECHNIC SHOW

Spectators can expect a bright 30-minute Japanese pyrotechnic show, which has no analogues in Russia. Hundreds of pyrotechnic charges will be launched from four barges installed in the waters of the Stroginsky backwater, the largest of which, 600 mm caliber, has never been presented in Russia before. Japanese fireworks are unique in their properties and have no analogues in the world. They are superior in color and brightness to other fireworks, and the process handmade, passed down from time immemorial, makes each projectile a true work of art.

Digital October

From year to year, the site remains a constant meeting place for famous professionals in the field of visual art and aspiring light artists. Educational program, consisting of lectures, seminars and practical classes, helps beginners master the basics and reveals many secrets and subtleties in working with light.

Spectators will see two light shows. The first will be dedicated to the history of the university, and the second will tell about the protected areas of Russia. At VDNKh, the festival organizers have prepared three interesting events at once.

We will see light installations created by artists from different corners planets. Before your eyes, huge structures in the form of incandescent lamps will come to life and the 12-meter “Fire Tornado” will spin, and the interactive installation “Angels of Freedom” will become the ideal backdrop for a romantic selfie. Every day from 19:30 to 23:00.
