Light felting pattern made from wool. How to make simple paintings from wool yourself. Beginner's Guide. Felting for beginners: master class

Wool painting for those who do not have an artistic gift, but really want to learn beautiful art handicrafts. An entertaining technique of dry wool felting in the form of wool paintings is a rather exclusive designer gift for a family celebration. Such a product is especially attractive due to its simple implementation and moderate costs.

Wool painting for those who do not have an artistic gift, but really want to learn the beautiful art of needlework

You will need:

  • Photo frame;
  • Manicure scissors;
  • Wool for felting;
  • Tweezers;
  • Iron;
  • Glue pencil;
  • Viscose napkin;
  • Small clips (paper clips).

How to make a picture step by step:

  1. Disassemble the frame. Place a napkin on the wooden or cardboard base of the frame and secure it carefully with paper clips.
  2. Wrap the wool of the background chosen for the base tightly around index finger, consistently pinch off the material into pieces.
  3. Place the prepared strands on a napkin and secure with glue. It is important that the edges of the wool extend beyond the base of the frame by 1-2 cm.
  4. From the edge corners of the picture, lay out the background in a darker shade; towards the middle, we reduce the color gamut by introducing lighter tones. Lightly secure each strand with glue.
  5. After the base has dried, iron it through a clean paper sheet. The process fixes the wool after just two strokes of the hot iron.
  6. We also sequentially lay out further plucked strands of the selected pattern. Each element of the design is ironed through blank slate paper.
  7. Remove excess hairs with scissors. Visually, a pattern to add volume can be made by rolling the strands in the palm of your hand in one direction. If you twist in different directions– the strand unwinds.
  8. After finishing the painting, iron it again, this will remove volume and excess hair. We cut off excess hairs and imprecise contours with nail scissors.

Carefully place the glass on the picture and trim the hairs along the edges. Close with a frame.

What tools are needed

To work you will need:

  1. First of all, you need the basis of the future painting - a glass frame 30 by 40 cm, you can focus on the size of an ordinary A4 paper sheet. A regular photo frame will also work.
  2. To attach the original material, we use viscose napkins or non-woven fabric.
  3. When applying smaller pieces of fur and aligning parts, tweezers will come in handy.
  4. You can trim off excess hairs without disturbing the ornament using nail scissors. Stationery scissors are useful for coarser cuts of material.
  5. Iron with adjustable mode - for smoothing individual picture elements.
  6. Dry glue pencil will perfectly fix the components of the drawing.

To create masterpieces you will need certain tools

The following types of wool are widely used in the dry felting technique:

  1. Sliver is a white wool thread that does not have guard hairs. Suitable as a basis for a drawing.
  2. Troitskaya is a rough, dyed, factory-produced wool with a lot of thick fibers. Mainly used to create toys.
  3. Merino sheep wool is a uniform color and consists of thin curls that are soft to the touch. Characterized by elasticity. Widely used in felting technique.
  4. Mohair is the wool of the Angora goat. Light, silky, with long fibers.
  5. Semenovskaya - Angora wool and Australian merino are used in the composition. Factory painting in warmer tones, guard fibers are visible.
  6. New Zealand sheepskin is characterized by its exceptional white hue. Thin and strong, long and wavy. It has antibacterial properties and is hypoallergenic. Retains heat perfectly and is used in making blankets.
  7. Carded wool has a loose structure and lends itself well to felling. Gives wool paintings a watercolor effect.

DIY wool watercolor

When creating a painting Winter forest in the morning" use carded wool or felt.

Necessary:

  • A drawing is a plot for a painting;
  • Frame;
  • Wool for the base white, brown and blue shades;
  • Scissors;
  • Soap.

With due diligence, the picture can turn out simply charming

How to do:

  1. Take the cardboard base of the frame, wet a piece of soap, and rub the base.
  2. Make strands from a piece of white wool, pulling them out from the last hairs of the skein.
  3. Lay out horizontally on the base, then vertically selected colors of the blue background of the picture, forming the sky. The cardboard base should not be visible. Make the edges of the hairs of the strand protrude beyond the base.

  5. To make the pattern smooth, periodically press the laid wool with your hand while working.
  6. Pulling hairs from a skein of wool, we form flagella by rolling them with our hands - an image of a clear line image of a tree and branches.
  7. Depicting voluminous caps of snow on tree branches, use scissors to finely chop chaotic wool shavings ranging in size from 2 to 3 mm. Here you can also white background Add barely noticeable pellets of red rowan to the snow.
  8. Applying the glass to the picture and lightly pressing down the drawing, this will allow you to see inaccuracies so that they can be eliminated later.
  9. If desired, you can make animals or a bird sitting on a tree in the picture by forming flagella of the appropriate color and fluffing them in the middle. For the nose and eyes, use black wool.
  10. Secure the finished craft with a light spray of hairspray. Place under glass.

Painting in watercolor style is great for winter images drawing.

Wool painting: how to create a flower

The composition is quite accessible for creativity by children's hands with competent adjustments from adults. If you follow the instructions, collaboration playing with wool will seem like a fascinating and unusual game.

Necessary:

  • Claying frame (with clamps);
  • Non-woven fabric for backing;
  • Scissors;
  • Tweezers;
  • Six for the background are white and light yellow;
  • Wool for drawing (shades of green, colors of the future flower).

The composition is quite accessible for creativity with children's hands under competent correction by adults

What to do:

  1. Draw a white background for the image. Pulling the wool thread from the skein, fluff it up a little with your fingers and lay it on the base, fixing the first layer with glue.
  2. At the bottom of the picture, make a mixture of yellow and white fibers, starting from half of the picture.
  3. Lay out the grass in pieces of wool, cutting them randomly with 3 mm scissors.
  4. We form the stem of the flower. Pinch off several fibers of different shades of green. Twist them into a twig with your palms. Place it on the image and carefully use tweezers to shape the stem.
  5. To form the petals, take a wide strand desired color. Spread the fibers well in your palm. Outline the required petal size by cutting off both ends with scissors.
  6. Place the petal on the surface and use tweezers to push the fibers apart.
  7. Place a small skein of wool felted in a circle in the middle of the flower. To give the flower an elegant natural look, add a couple of fibers of adjacent colors to each petal.
  8. With wool of a darker shade you can highlight the contours of the flower image.
  9. While working, periodically apply glass to the drawing. This will ensure a tight fit of the wool and allow you to detect errors in the execution of the painting in time. After finishing, clamp the painting under the glass with clamps, trim off the excess wool around the edges.

Without limiting the child’s imagination, you can add flowers of other colors to the same picture. For example, chrysanthemums go well with a bright red poppy. Multi-stage petals of such a flower can be easily made by twisting wool of similar shades into thin flagella and placing them on top of each other. And by slightly twisting the tips of the three petals with tweezers, you can depict a tulip.

Light autumn landscape made from wool with your own hands

When drawing autumn and nature, we use thin felt and trinity wool as a basis. To create a believable effect, it is recommended to cut the leaves before forming flagella-trees in the picture. This format visually creates the range of the image in the work.

You will need:

  • Frame with glass;
  • A piece of felt;
  • Nail scissors, tweezers;
  • The wool comes in red, orange, yellow, green, burgundy and white shades. For trees, take brown tones;
  • Hairspray.

Drawing autumn landscape, we use thin felt and trinity wool as a base

How to do:

  1. We cover the entire felt backing with a light shade, leaving a little white background. The strands must be laid out horizontally.
  2. Lay out the sketch of the drawing itself in a darker tone, adjusting the height of the wool strands with tweezers.
  3. We form the decorative element of tree branches in a corresponding brown tone, twisting them into strips with our palms. When applying to the image, adjust with tweezers and press down with your hand.
  4. Leaves - pieces of wool are cut with scissors immediately into the image, removing excess hairs with tweezers. When forming the leaves, we use three different colors to make the drawing more believable.
  5. Form the fruits of the tree into small pellets, scattering them over the branches.
  6. You can make a small lawn around the image of a tree with leaves by mixing hairs of brown and green wool. We form flower petals into small pieces, and opening buds into pellets.
  7. Before placing the design under the glass, adjust the hairs of the fur again.

Cover the finished work with glass and frame it.

Lilac: DIY wool painting (video)

Creation of the painting "Russian Field" (felt with 3D elements)

Author: Semova Yulia Valerievna, teacher additional education MAOU DO CRTD and Yu Kamensky district, Penza region

The master class is intended for teachers, students and all lovers of working with wool.

The painting was created by a student, Alena Khromova, individual work with a gifted child. The original source from which the picture was made was taken from the Internet.

Target: Creating a wet wool painting with 3D elements.
Tasks:
teach the technology of wet felting wool using 3D elements;
develop creativity, imagination, fine motor skills hands;
cultivate aesthetic needs, interest and respect for manual labor, the desire for creative self-realization.
Materials: fine, semi-fine, merino wool (shades of green, blue, red, white, black and yellow).
Equipment: bubble wrap, mesh, scissors, water, soap.

Work progress

We spread an oilcloth on the table, prepare a soap solution (pour warm water into a bowl and put soap or pour a little liquid soap, we mostly use baby soap).
The finished size of the painting will be 25-30% smaller due to wool shrinkage. Our painting is 30 by 40 centimeters in finished form.
We lay the wool on the bubble wrap, pulling it out from the combed tape, one layer (vertically) is white, then visually divide it into 3 parts, cover the top one horizontally with white wool, and vertically with light blue wool on top.

We cover the lower part horizontally with green wool, and the middle part is divided into 2 parts, white on top, then light green above the green, also horizontally.

We use blue wool to outline the clouds in the sky.

Add clouds with white wool. We lay yellow on a white narrow strip.

We add horizontal strands to the yellow stripe, and lay out “grass” on the light green and green stripes (thin strands of different shades of green, slightly curled on top).

On the table we form poppy petals from red wool, for this we bend the elongated short strands.

Forming a flower.

Add red from the center to the edge of the petals, a little white, put a light green circle in the center, shade it with black.

At this stage, we place pieces of film under the petals, not reaching the center.

A little independent work, the field is painted with colors at the request of the student, more voluminous details appear. Important: more pieces of film are added to the voluminous poppy and the upper petals are laid out. Add black around the light green one to create an adhesion between the fibers of the two layers of petals.

Cover with a net. Next is the process of impregnation with a warm soapy solution. We soap the film on both sides for better glide, and the first “grinding in” of the layers begins. We act carefully, first with light movements, so as not to move the drawing.

When the initial felling has occurred, the fibers have slightly interlocked, we begin to work on the petals, one at a time with soapy hands let's leave.

Now our entire picture is visible, the petals of both volumetric flowers have been worked out. Let's flatten the picture, to do this we turn it over, placing pieces of film under the petals, rub it in from the inside out, see where weak points. Important: the corners should not be elongated or deformed. You can, of course, trim it later, but part of the drawing will be lost.

Rinse thoroughly. Important: the water temperature should be slightly warm, as when felting with soap, if rinsing cold water, the difference in temperature will cause the painting to shrink, that is, decrease in size. We dry it straightened out first on a towel, then you can dry it on a line, carefully hooking it with clothespins to the bent edge. When dry, you can iron it without affecting the volumetric elements.
The painting is finished.

We put it in a frame without glass, first glue the picture along the edge to the cardboard.

In conclusion, I can say that we liked the process of creating the picture, and we were pleased with the result.
I hope that the master class will be useful to lovers of artistic felt and those who are just looking at this type creative work. Thanks everyone for watching!

To make a painting you will need:

  • clamp frame (it consists of hardboard (fibreboard), glass, clamps);
  • wool (combed tape) different colors- for this work, 6 colors are enough: white, blue, light blue, yellow, brown, dark green;
  • scissors,
  • tweezers (for laying out small foreground details),
  • non-woven or flannel - whatever you find (as a backing).

Let's disassemble the frame. We put the clamps aside (they will be needed at the very end of the work. We put a backing on the hardboard (fibreboard) - non-woven fabric. It is designed to “hold” the wool fibers on itself. The working surface is ready!

We lay sliver (undyed, unbleached wool) on the prepared surface, evenly filling the entire area in any direction. At the same time, we pull the fibers from the wool tape in the form of wide thin strands (as shown in the photo Step 3)

This stage is necessary to form the base layer of the painting, as well as to “feel” the wool (in my latest works, I do not use a sliver, I immediately lay out colored wool)

This method of working with wool is called "pulling". Indeed, it turns out that we pull wool fibers from a combed ribbon, which we hold in one hand, with the fingers of the other hand, forming thin strands.

To make it more clear, I show it on dark wool.

Having laid out the working surface with a layer of sliver, we begin to form the background of the picture. At the same time, we use another method of working with wool - “pinching” (see step 5)

The method of “pinching” wool is implemented as follows: we take in one hand a combed ribbon of the color we need, and in this case we take exactly the fold of the ribbon (see photo); With the fingers of the other hand, we pinch the surface hairs of the tape with frequent quick movements. A fluffy ball forms in our hands, which we lay out on the work surface.

Go With blue and blue wool we form the background (background) of the picture. We also use the pinching method.

We continue to draw the background. Using white wool, we highlight the middle of the picture, creating something like a haze.

Using the pulling method, we form strands from which we make snowdrifts. We use white and blue wool.

Using white wool we determine the place for the moon. It will be a halo of light emanating from it.

We add strands of yellow wool here and there to make the moonlight warm. We form the moon itself by cutting white wool. Those. We take a strand of wool and cut it thin enough so that the length of the hairs is 2-3mm. And place the resulting fluff onto the picture with tweezers, forming a circle.

Using white wool we draw trees in the distance. At the same time, we cut the wool directly onto the picture, and use tweezers to correct what is “wrong.”

Fill the horizon with a forest of white snow-covered trees, as described in step 11.

Let's make the picture "warmer" by adding yellow wool to the snow.

Use brown wool to draw the frame of the house (you can “cut” the brown wool or roll a strand of wool into a ball and lay it on the surface). Use yellow wool to draw a window. White wool will help give our house a finished look - let's draw a snowy roof and a snowdrift at the base of the house.

We connect wool of dark green, blue and brown, then we cut this strand into the picture, forming a Christmas tree. (a non-uniform color of the tree is preferable - it looks more natural).

Use white wool to draw snow on the Christmas tree, using the same technique as in the previous step.

We draw tree trunks with brown wool. To do this, pull out thin long strands and twist them slightly. We draw branches in the same way.

Using white wool we will make highlights on the trees.

We cut the white wool and place the fluff on tree branches. I tried to depict young pines covered with snow.

To the left of the moon we will draw a couple of trees. We form trunks and branches by twisting thin strands of brown wool, you can add a little white (highlight).

Use white wool to draw snowy branches. It is better to cut the wool directly onto the picture, forming the desired shape with tweezers.

Using yellow wool we will make a “moon path” in the snow, it should be quite “blurry”, and we will also make the moon, one side of the Christmas tree and the crown of the pine trees a little yellower.
Use blue wool to make the shadow of the Christmas tree as shown in the photo.

We cover the finished picture with glass (be sure to clean the glass before doing this; for example, I use napkins to clean displays). We clamp with clamps

glass and hardboard with a woolen picture between them, trim off the excess wool protruding along the edges.
The finished painting can be framed into a baguette.

And this, in fact, is the picture already under glass (it somehow appears brighter under it):

  • If you have a limited choice of wool colors, this is not a problem. Wool of one color, when mixed with wool of another color, like paints, forms shades of varying degrees of uniformity. Using the shades obtained by mixing primary colors, you can create amazing picture. For example, I really like contrasting things. Having wool of only 2 colors, you can create a complete picture (for example, dark blue and white wool is enough to “paint” a chic night landscape). As my mother says: “The need for invention is cunning” (about someone’s ingenuity, especially when funds are tight)
  • Do not try to copy the image (photo) exactly; use it only as a sample and source of inspiration. You have your own individual vision of this plot, right?! You, as a creator, as a creator, have the right to place your own accents in this plot (add or remove some details in the foreground, slightly or completely change the background (background) of the picture, choosing the colors and shades of wool that are most suitable in this case)
  • To speed up the natural felting of the wool, it is useful to periodically, while laying out the picture, gently slam it with your palm to fasten the layers together.
  • For paintings with a dark background (dark blue, black, brown, etc.), it is convenient to use black non-woven fabric as a backing. In this case, you can start laying out the picture not from the sliver, but immediately from the colored wool you need dark color. This saves a lot of effort and time, as well as the material itself (wool).

Do you like to draw? Then it’s time to try a new direction for creativity - dry felting from wool. Having mastered this technique, you will be able to make real masterpieces and create your own art collection. Wool painting according to a simple master class for beginners – good way master .

Step-by-step master class: painting from wool

Before you begin, prepare the following materials:

  • Frame with glass and clips
  • Wool of different colors
  • Base fabric - non-woven or flannel
  • Tweezers

First you need to disassemble the frame, that is, separate the glass from it and attach the selected backing fabric to a wooden base. This fabric is needed to ensure that the wool holds well.

Now you need to take the undyed wool and spread it in an even layer on top of the frame.

At this stage, the formation of the base layer occurs, so carefully pull out the threads with tweezers to get even strands. You can also do this with your hands, holding a piece of wool in one and pulling out the strands with the other.

Photo of the pulling technique

The plucking technique should be used to form the background of a wool painting for beginners. This technique is quite simple: bend a piece of wool and pull out the hairs from it and lay them out on the work surface.

Photo of pinching technique

For the background of the painting, use blue and light blue wool, combining plucking techniques.

Now you need to make a light haze on a blue background, for this use gray or beige wool. Lay out thin strands. We will have winter picture, therefore, using the pulling method, we obtained strands for snowdrifts from white wool and laid them on the base.

White wool is suitable for decorating the moon and light haze around it. Unlike snowdrifts, the strands for the moon should be smaller. You can add a little yellow around the moon. To do this, use wool of a suitable color, but trim the hairs after pulling them to make the effect more realistic.

With white wool you can draw trees that are visible in the distance. Gently adjust the threads with tweezers to bring the picture closer to the natural image. If you find it difficult to create on the go, then first make sketches on paper and even mark the shades so that they can be easily selected from the available wool.

Brown threads will be useful to you to make a hut that is barely visible because of the snowdrifts. If you want to plant a tree made of wool, then mix several shades of threads, trim them a little, and then lay out the branches.

The top of the spruce can be covered with snow using white wool. You can think through the plot deeply, then the glare from the moon will fall on the path, and in addition to the spruce tree in your picture, trees will grow from wool.

Recently, natural wool has become even more highly regarded among lovers of arts and crafts. Painting, where paints were replaced by felted material, came into use. Second title creative process- felting. The article contains recommendations and master classes from craftsmen on how to create paintings using this technology.

Basics of wool painting techniques

Felt ones look stylish and unusually gentle. Materials for work are predominantly environmentally friendly and do not cause harm environment and human health. A beginner should not take on a complex painting. large size. First, make a small drawing. To do this you will need:

  • frame with glass (can be used for photographs);
  • fleece a little more sizes this frame (an alternative is viscose fabric);

The process of creating a painting

  • curved nail scissors for fine work;
  • small tweezers;
  • wool for needlework.

Attention! For a complete picture you will need at least 9-10 colors and shades. More the better.

Before you start, decide what and how you will draw. It's better to sketch it on a rough sheet approximate diagram paintings. For the rest, rely on your ability to work with a brush and paint. Felting works on principles similar to painting, only you will shape the strokes on the canvas yourself.

Master class on creating a simple wool painting

Having worked out the basic nuances in practice, you will be able to master the technique and make paintings from wool of a more complex class. But you still need to start with simple drawings. For beginners, the dry wool felting method is suitable. As an example with step by step tips- summer landscape: earth, sky, meadow.

Master class: how to depict flowers in a painting

You can decorate the meadow with flowers. Before making daisies, decide where the inflorescences will be located. Felt the yellow centers and place them at the planned points in the picture. Place white felt petals around. They are small, so it is convenient to use tweezers.

Advice. It is better to fix such complex designs as a daisy in a painting with hairspray.

For cornflowers, you need to choose a thread of a suitable color, which is not so easy. Make lumps of sepals from dark greenery. In general, meadow herbs will look good in the picture. Use colorful balls to depict small flowers in the background.

The wool painting looks soft. The lines are smooth and blurry. Without richness and bright accents, it will look pale. Therefore, experts advise not to be afraid to add dark thick strokes, where you think it is necessary. The final stage of creating a picture from wool is fixing the applique under glass.

Making a winter landscape

A simple but very atmospheric image is a winter landscape. For such a picture you will not need too many shades. Take blue, dark blue, light blue, white, brown, yellow, turquoise. Can be depicted winter evening, snow-covered house under a tree.

Winter landscape

Operating procedure:

  1. Form a backing layer from white wool. Lay the strands in different directions. If the edges extend beyond the cardboard, trim them with scissors.
  2. Layer a background on top, combining blue, cyan (sky) and white (earth). Lay out from dark to light shades. Create a snowy plain in the picture using horizontal strands.
  3. Twist several strands of different thicknesses from dark blue threads. They will be silhouettes of trees in the background. Make the front trees larger from white wool. Light whitish fluff along the perimeter of the crown is a snow cap.
  4. Decorate the moon by rolling a woolen flagellum into a thin ring. Fill it with finely chopped wool of the same color.
  5. Pick up some brown thread and make a shape to represent a house. In the place where you plan the windows, the walls should be a little lighter.
  6. For the roof, use a white bunch of tightly laid threads. To give the roof the desired shape (with an eaves and two slopes), use scissors. The direction of the threads in the bundle is close to the horizon line.
  7. Cover the bottom of the house with a couple of snowdrifts. Cut out the windows from white wool. Don't forget to include frame elements. You should throw yellow threads on the snow under the windows, and turquoise threads on the snow and trees. These are reflections from the windows and the moon, respectively.

The technique of making a painting from felted wool is accessible even to children. Therefore, making it together will be a wonderful activity that strengthens family ties.
