Greek singer. The most beautiful Greek singers

Pop stars

Greece is a country with rich people cultural traditions, which were influenced by various historical eras and neighboring states. Colorful and expressive Greek music and interesting, original cinema originate from ancient Greek theaters, famous since ancient times. Modern Greece is the birthplace of many talented people, famous abroad.

If you want to get to know Greece and its traditions better, then you should learn better about those who are the idols of modern Greeks. And perhaps this will be the beginning of a great love for Greek cinema and pop music.

The best place to start getting acquainted with popular modern Greek music is with one of the most famous singers Greece - Elena Paparizou.

Despite the fact that she was born not in Greece, but in Sweden, in an emigrant family, having matured, she returned to her homeland and became a real favorite of the public. Those who have been watching Eurovision for a long time may remember the expressive Greek singer. She took part in this competition from Greece in 2001 and 2005. In Kyiv she took first place with her song “ My Number One". The victory at Eurovision was the beginning of a successful solo career and creative takeoff: since that time, the singer has managed to release 6 music albums, two of which were performed on English, and four are in Greek. Songs by Elena Paparizou have won the highest music award in Greece - the Arion Music Awards - several times. And the love for this Greek singer outside her homeland was confirmed by her receipt of the prestigious European Border Breakers Awards in 2007. The songs of this singer are distinguished by bright, memorable melodies with national flavor and dance rhythms. In addition to “My Number One”, to get acquainted with her work, you can also listen to the song “Gigolo”.

Another famous one Greek singer - Anna Vissi.

It became popular back in the 70s of the last century, and since then this star has not left the Greek musical Olympus. She also took part in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1980 and 2006, and was also invited to take part in the closing ceremony of the Athens Olympics in 2004. Her impeccable and unique style, as well as her beauty, which has miraculously preserved over the years, have forced her to be compared with such a star as Madonna. She has recorded more than 20 music albums and received many awards. Her most famous song is called "Call Me". If you love dance music, then you will definitely like this song. Even though it was released over ten years ago, this song still sounds modern.

She is another famous Greek performer, although the peak of her popularity came at the beginning of the 2000s, and over time, the public’s interest in her songs has subsided somewhat; familiarity with her work will allow you to better understand the flavor of the Greek stage.

The modern dance rhythms of her songs are surprisingly combined with Greek folk motifs, and her strong voice simply mesmerizing. To be convinced of this, listen to at least the song “Girismata”, in which the violins sound so “Greek”.

If you love retro music, then be sure to check out the singer’s work Nana Muskhuri. Her repertoire for more than half a century musical career, is so wide and has the most various genres, ranging from classics and jazz to chanson and songs for films. Her unique, gentle voice is the result of a health problem that over time turned into a gift. The girl was born with only one vocal cord, and this defect was the reason for her unique soprano.

Their songs by Nana Muskhuri performed on more than ten various languages. In “Siko Horepse Sirtaki” one can distinguish shades of French chanson and Greek folk dance tunes, “Ta pedia tou Pirea” is a classic of Greek romance of the 60s, in which you can again recognize folk Greek motifs and the slow “lazy” rhythm of sirtaki. Nana Mouskhuri sang a duet with such world-famous stars as Julio Iglesias (song “Cucurrucucu Paloma”) and Mireille Mathieu (song “La Paloma”).

Another Greek singer will be loved by those who love beautiful melodic songs in the classical style.

Simple lyrics and melodies filled with deep meaning, a combination of keyboard instruments with strings and acoustic guitar- all this is somewhat reminiscent of French chanson, and folk Greek motifs, and classical works. In the song “Nostalgia” all these elements are very clearly visible, in addition “seasoned” with recitative. And the song “Thanatiforos Pyretos” with its interesting melody, performed by the singer’s deep voice, sounds very epic.

Of the most famous Greek performers around the world, we must name Yorgosa Dalaras A. He began his singing career back in 1967 and managed to give thousands of concerts and release many music albums (more than 70!). It was this singer who became the “ancestor” of live concerts for thousands of people in Greek stadiums.

Dalaras's soulful voice penetrates to the depths of the soul, and the rich intonations with many melismas in the songs convey the fullness of Mediterranean passion. To get acquainted with his work, you can listen to songs such as “S’agapo giati ise orea” or “Mi Mou Thimonis Matia Mou”. Many songs were performed by Georgios Dalaras on Spanish, and not just in Greek. In most songs you can hear passionate spanish guitar or the national Greek instrument - bouzouki.

Another representative of modern musical Greece - Sakisa Rouvasa - music critics often compared to Elvis Presley.

Thanks to his powerful charisma, bright songs with catchy melodies and rhythms that make you want to dance, he has become a real star. This singer represented Greece at Eurovision twice - in 2004 and 2009. Sakis Rouvas began singing and recording his songs professionally at the age of 17, and in 1991 he released his first album. One of his most danceable songs is “This is our night.”

He is a prominent representative of the Greek and Cypriot musical elite, as well as the most influential modern Greek musician, singer, composer and actor. Michalis not only sings well, but also plays the guitar and piano.

In 1998, the singer participated in Eurovision, representing Crete. If you want to get into a romantic mood, then just listen to his songs, for example, “De feugo” or “Monos mou”. The first of them is more in the “American” style, while the second shows Mediterranean passionate notes.

Of course, one cannot fail to mention the famous Greek performer Demis Roussos, who recently passed away, who occupied a prominent place among world-famous stars.

Demis began his solo career in 1971, and before that he sang in the group Aphrodite’s Child, which he and his friends created in 1963. Songs of Demis Roussos- this is music that has become an all-time classic. You can listen to them endlessly, at any time and for any mood. Hits such as “Goodbye, my love, goodbye” (“Adiós Amor Adiós”), “Guantanamera”, “Mammy Blue” and others performed by him are songs that any music lover around the world can recognize from the first notes.

A recent selection of the most charming and attractive Greeks from film and TV did not satisfy some discerning readers. In the previous article, beautiful greek singers, but I wanted to publish this category of handsome guys separately, including not only photos, but also videos with their songs. It won't work out at the same time big concert!

So, meet:

The most beautiful Greek singers

1 For many, and for me too, the absolute favorite in this category is Sakis Rouvas. In my opinion, it is completely deserved! Sakis is 44, and he is an exemplary family man - look at this wonderful family!

2 Nikos Vertis: confidently continues his career and remains the favorite singer of many Greeks.

3 - matured and not very similar to the blonde from the reality show he was 10 years ago. He continues to delight the audience with his talent.

4 Antonis Remos- matured, became a happy father of a charming daughter, and continues to be one of the leaders of the Greek stage.

5 Yiannis Plutarchos - good as always! Read more about his life at

6 Yannis Poulopoulos- he was very good in his youth! And in appearance he doesn’t look too much like a typical Greek, although there are indeed a lot of blond Greeks. About the master of Greek song

7 Another “eternal” value of the Greek stage: Yorgos Dalaras. You can read about Dalaras in several articles on the site.

Giorgos Dalaras at the age of 20. A photo with his own dedication to one of his friends. http://www.dalaras.gr/

The video features a famous song «Όλα καλά όλα ωραία» , which many have heard in a very free interpretation performed by Philip Kirkorov.

8 And this is from the young and not very famous: . She has quite a model appearance and a good voice. And the all-conquering smile simply knocks particularly fragile young ladies off their feet :)

9 This face may be familiar to you. Many remember how at the festival in Jurmala Ksenia Sobchak presented it with a special breath in her voice:

10 is also enough famous name on Greek stages.

11 Young singer

12 A talented self-taught singer, a former petty officer in the Greek Navy who left the service to become a singer. He flashed like a bright star across the pop sky of Greece, winning millions of hearts. Unfortunately, Pandelis died tragically in a car accident on February 18th of this year, he was only 32 years old. As a rule, he wrote his songs himself, both music and poetry. Moreover, he learned to play musical instruments I never studied music on my own. But I included him in this collection more because he was the personification of a simple Greek guy, with all his advantages and disadvantages, external and internal. A typical physiognomy and figure of an average Greek, a simple and broad soul, in some places naive and simple, in others self-confident and cunning. Ellinaras, as the Greeks say, that is, Hellenes in superlatives, all 100%. May he rest in peace...

Of course, these are not all beautiful Greek singers, and I absolutely do not claim to be the ultimate truth. Some of you have your own idols, and it would be great if you share your opinion in the comments. Who else do you think deserves to be on this list?

Elena Meteleva

Eurovision can be viewed in different ways. However, this competition during its long history made famous many artists who later became stars not only in their own country, but also abroad. Among the latter is Sakis Rouvas, whose biography this article is devoted to.

Parents

The singer was born in 1972 on the Greek island of Corfu, in the family of Costas and Anna Maria Rouvas (maiden name Panaretou). The boy's father worked as a driver, and his mother worked as a saleswoman at a duty-free store at a local airport. After the birth of Sakis, Kostas and Anna-Maria had another boy, who was named Tolis.

Early years

At the age of 10, Sakis Rouvas (biography, personal life are presented below) made his first debut on theater stage staged by I Karharies Itan Anthropi. This work was followed by others. In addition, the boy independently learned to play the guitar and became interested in foreign pop music.

When Sakis was going through the difficulties of adolescence, his parents divorced. He and his brother were forced to move to another part of the island of Corfu, where their paternal grandparents lived. Soon Kostas married for the second time, and Sakis Rouvas (information about his biography, wife and children is posted below) had to go to work so as not to be a burden to his family.

Choosing a profession

Problems in the family did not prevent the young man from becoming a member of his country's national team in No. young man the stage beckoned, and he decided to devote himself to music.

Already in high school, singer Sakis Rouvas, whose biography today inspires hope for success in thousands of Greek boys and girls from poor families, began performing in front of classmates, performing world-famous hits of the Beatles and Elvis Presley.

After school, the young man sang for some time in hotels and nightclubs, and at the age of 17 he left for Patras, hoping to become a famous artist.

Interestingly, while working on Aima, Dakrua kai Idrotas, Rouvas was called upon to military service. The young man asked the military department for a deferment in order to be able to complete work on this project. However, his request was rejected. Then information leaked to the press that Rouvas demanded to be exempted from military service, citing the fact that he suffers from a rare mental illness - agoraphobia. The singer was sent to a psychiatric hospital in Penteli to assess his mental health, where he was rumored to have attempted suicide. In 1996 he released his next music album Tora Arhizoun Ta Diskola, which went gold. He was invited to perform in one of the prestigious nightclubs of the Greek capital together with Anna Vissi, and fans of his work opened the SRFC fan club, which became one of the largest in Greece.

In 1997, Rouvas recorded the song Se Thelo, Me Thelis. This duet with Anna Vissi was included in the singer’s album called Travma and was a great success.

Rouvas performed on the same stage with Turkish singer Burak Kut, calling to forget about enmity.

Sakis Rouvas (biography): marital status

In the spring of 2008, it became known that Ziguli was pregnant, and on November 2 she gave birth to a girl named Anastasia. Sakis chose Emmanuel Pavlata as the godmother for his daughter. Although in an interview given after the birth of his first child, Rouvas said that marriage was not part of their couple’s plans, a year later it did not escape the careful gaze of journalists that a diamond engagement ring was sparkling on Katya’s finger.

On October 15, 2011, Sakis and his faithful and incredibly beautiful girlfriend became parents for the second time. They had a son, who was named Alexandros. The couple had two more and a daughter in 2013 and 2016, and on July 3, 2017, 14 years after they met, Sakis Rouvas finally married Katya Ziguli.

The wedding celebration was magnificent, and all the Greek media wrote about it.

Now you know which one creative path brought the popular Greek singer Sakis Rouvas to the pop Olympus. You also know the biography, family and details of the artist’s personal life. We can only hope that the singer will continue to delight his fans with new hits that will be popular even far beyond the borders of his native country.

One of the most famous Greek singers. She was born into a family of Greek emigrants in Sweden, but eventually returned to her historical homeland and won the love of her people. Fans of the Eurovision vocal competition have been familiar with this performer since 2001, when Elena performed as part of the pop duo “Antique”. In 2005, when this major vocal competition was held in Kyiv, Elena Paparizou performed there again, but with a solo program and received the highest rating from the audience, winning first place with the song My Number One from her debut album.

However, the victory in Kyiv was only the beginning of a fairly successful singer’s career. After the tour, Elena took up writing with even greater zeal, and at the moment Her discography already includes 4 Greek-language and 2 English-language albums. Her songs have received Greece's highest music award, the Arion Music Awards, many times. The performer was also awarded the European Border Breakers Awards in 2007, which is awarded to musicians who have gained great popularity outside their home country.

Singer Sakisa Rouvasa called the Greek Elvis Presley. He is also talented, attractive and has incredible charisma that attracts fans to him. And it was by performing Elvis songs in hotels and clubs in Greece that 17-year-old Sakis began his musical career. The gifted young man was noticed by producers of a famous Greek recording studio, and already in 1991 the singer’s first album was released, which was very warmly received by listeners. Since then, Sakis Rouvas releases a new album almost every year, participates in a variety of musical and television projects, experiments with styles and images. In 2004 and 2009 he represented Greece in the Eurovision Song Contest.

Greek and Cypriot singer Anna Vissi one of the long-lived performers of this country's music scene - she began performing back in the mid-70s. Thanks to its unfading beauty, energy and modern style she is often compared to Madonna. Like the above-mentioned artists, Anna also represented Greece at the Eurovision Song Contest (in 1980 and 2006), as one of best singers countries participated in the closing ceremony of the summer Olympic Games in Athens in 2004. The singer has more than 2 dozen studio albums, many national prizes, as well as recognition from such an authoritative music magazine, like BillBoard - in 2004, her single “Call Me” took first place in this publication’s dance chart.

Another modern Cypriot and Greek pop star - singer, composer, pianist and guitarist Michalis Hadjiyanis. Sing on various music competitions the young man began while still studying at music college. After his first successes, he entered the qualifying rounds for Eurovision and in 1998 represented Cyprus at this competition. Exit to big stage contributed to the active creative development of Michalis. He collaborated with famous composers of Greece, made many tours in Europe and the USA, and participated in many foreign festivals of Greek culture both as a musician and as an actor. In 2010, Greek Forbes included Hadzhiyanis in the list of the most influential musicians in the country.

One of the most popular and at the same time very colorful singers in Greece. In her songs you can hear original arrangements with elements of local folklore and excellent melodies that will surely be remembered by listeners for a long time. The peak of Despina's popularity occurred in the early 2000s, when her fifth album “Gia” was released. And although in subsequent years the performer still actively performed and recorded excellent compositions, she did not receive her former popularity. At least this is evidenced by the fact that the singer has never won in national competition to participate in Eurovision, the whimsical Greek public time and again gave preference to other performers.
