But throughout the entire time of healing, he did not leave the church world. He soon realized that his calling was to be a priest and soon took monastic vows. They began to call him the apostle, evangelist and physician Luke. Afterwards, for a long time he was known as the ruling bishop of the Crimean Orthodox diocese.
It is because of his famous medical and surgical past that Christians pray to him for health after the operation, for the successful completion of the operation and for a speedy recovery.

Prayers of loved ones
“Where two or three are gathered in My Name, there I am in the midst of them,” says Christ in the Gospel. This means that when a loved one is in the hospital, relatives and friends should add their voice to his prayer, then it will be more likely to be heard by God.
