Fire, water, earth, air - lots of experiments!
Fire, water, earth, air - there are so many interesting things around us!

This rich program includes many experiments, each of which is associated with a particular element.

So the kids will see a real volcano, the explosion of a balloon filled with hydrogen, appreciate the air pressure of a super-blower - more than a dozen experiments in total, and in the end, young researchers will prepare polymer worms and take them home with them as a scientific gift!

2. Super laboratory (7-12 years old)

A science show with lots of experiments - a real "Super Lab"!
How can you pierce balloon so that it turns out to be a shish kebab?

Is it possible to draw using the heat of your hands or leave a bloody print on a piece of paper? How will the beads jump out of the jar on their own by inertia?

How can you make a ball out of a pacifier, and is it possible to hypnotize the entire class? The guys will find answers to these and many other questions in the “Super Laboratory” show. And the preparation of polymer worms by each participant will be a worthy end to the program.

3. All inclusive (5-18 years old)

The most festive scientific program, where the most interesting experiments are selected
Especially for children's birthdays in scientific style An "All inclusive" program has been prepared.

There are interesting experiments with dry ice, and excellent experiments with sound and polymers. Each participant will see a rainbow using special glasses and prepare a polymer worm.

And the culmination of the children's science holiday will be cotton candy, and each of the young researchers will prepare it themselves!

4. Summer show (5-18 years old)

Summer is a great time to experiment a lot!
Summer! Sun! Beauty!!!

Especially for you, we have prepared a summer show - a scientific program, all experiments in which must be carried out on fresh air- in a children's camp or on the lawn near the house.

A 10-meter shot of a cork, beads that change color under the influence of ultraviolet light, a rocket soaring a hundred meters, a giant soap foam, a jet bottle and a soda machine, and of course a five-meter fountain of soda - no one has higher! Hurry up to see, because in the fresh air you can experiment on a grand scale!

5. For the little ones (3-6 years)

This science show is perfect for the youngest researchers!
The show includes the safest yet most interesting experiments that allow young researchers to start exploring the world!

Hello!
At the end of 2013, the publishing house "Mann, Ivanov and Ferber" published my book "The Experiments of Professor Nicolas." In it, I collected experiments that can easily be prepared at home, described them and provided them with a large number of photographs.

We tried very hard to make the book interesting, and I would like to know your opinion about it.

Under the cut detailed information about the book:
()

A book in a high-quality edition is an excellent gift for a child.
After reading this book with your whole family and experimenting thoroughly, you will definitely agree with our motto that

Science is great!
I will be glad to receive your feedback and comments.

Hello dear guest!!!

Now most of my posts are open.
Personal posts and photographs are kept under lock and key. If you want to read everything, please knock. And write a little about yourself, I’ll be glad to meet you :)

Happy reading and good mood!

Using a chemical reaction, we will summon the genie from the flask.

For the experiment we will need:
- glass flask;

- potassium permanganate;
- protective gloves;
- oilcloth.

Attention! You cannot conduct the experiment without protective gloves, and you cannot bend over the flask during the reaction.

Experiment stages:
1. It is best to cover the table with oilcloth so that it does not get dirty.
2. Add inside the flask without large number hydrogen peroxide.
3. Add a small amount of potassium permanganate inside the flask.
4. Genie from the flask!!!

Science is great!

How can you create a glowing slime?

I wonder what is needed to create a glowing slime, and what experiments can be done with it?

We will need:
- polyvinyl alcohol;
- sodium borate;
- a glass and a spoon;
- phosphorescent paint;
- flashlight (ultraviolet is best).

What we do:
1. Pour polyvinyl alcohol into a glass.
2. Add phosphorescent dye inside the polyvinyl alcohol and mix well.
3. Prepare a sodium borate solution.
4. Add borax solution inside the polyvinyl alcohol and mix well. Lizun is ready!
5. It stretches and tears, exhibiting the properties of both liquid and solid(this is a non-Newtonian fluid).
6. If you shine a flashlight on a slime and turn off the light, it will glow!

Science is great!

How to make a large amount of foam using a chemical reaction?

- flask;
- concentrated hydrogen peroxide;
- protective gloves;
- liquid soap;
- potassium iodide.

Attention! Peroxide and foam should not be touched with unprotected hands.

What we do:
1. Put on protective gloves and add a small amount of hydrogen peroxide inside the flask.
2. Now you need to add a small amount of liquid soap or dishwashing detergent.
3. Mix the contents inside the flask thoroughly!
4. Add a spoonful of potassium iodide.
5. Hurray! Foam!!!

And if the liquid is tinted, then the foam will be colored.

Science is great!

How to prepare a non-Newtonian fluid?

A non-Newtonian fluid is an amazing substance because it has the properties of both a solid and a liquid.

In order to prepare a colored non-Newtonian liquid you will need:
- starch;
- a bowl of warm water;
- liquid dye.

What we do:
1. Start adding starch to a bowl of water and mix the contents thoroughly.
2. After some time, you will be able to feel how the spoon begins to resist movement inside the liquid.
3. If you take a small amount of liquid in your hands and roll it, it behaves like a dense lump, but as soon as you stop influencing it, it spreads like an ordinary thick liquid.
4. You can try to lift the bowl by jerking sharply with your hands that are inside the liquid.
5. If you move the spoon smoothly inside the liquid, nothing interesting happens, but if you do this with sudden movements, the liquid parts and you can see the bottom.

The best recipe preparing colored slime.

We all love slimes because they have both solid and liquid properties. They can be perfectly stretched, torn, put back together, made into balls - beauty!

To make slime you will need:
1. Polyvinyl alcohol.
2. Sodium borate solution.
3. Dye.
4. Glass and spoon.

How to prepare slime:
1. Pour polyvinyl alcohol into a glass and add a small amount of dye.
2. Mix thoroughly with a spoon so that the alcohol is evenly colored.
3. Now add a small amount of sodium tetraborate solution (it must be dissolved in water in advance) in a ratio of 1 to 4.
4. After this, we begin to stir vigorously until the liquid thickens.
5. Slime is ready!

After experimenting with slime, you need to put it in a glass with a lid so that it does not dry out.

Science is great!

I wonder how you can dissolve a huge piece of polystyrene foam, turning it into chemical chewing gum? Let's do an experiment!

To conduct the experiment you will need:
. bowl;
. a long piece of foam;
. acetone;
. spoon.

Experiment stages:
1. Pour a small amount of acetone into a bowl.
2. Take a piece of foam on top.
3. Place a piece of Styrofoam in a bowl and watch it begin to shrink right before your eyes!
4. If you look from above, you can see a lot of bubbles and also hear a hissing sound.
5. Gradually, all the foam will dissolve in acetone, turning into a viscous substance.
6. Using a spoon, take the chemical “chewing gum” - it stretches. If you take it out of the bowl and leave it for a while, it will dry out and become hard.

What actually happened to the piece of foam?

How can you turn a tea bag into a miniature flying machine and send it flying? Let's do an experiment!

To conduct the experiment you will need:
tea bags (you need those that do not have a partition inside);
scissors;
tray;
lighter;
cup.

Photo instructions for the experiment:
1. Using scissors, cut top part package.
2. Straighten the bag and pour the contents into the glass.
3. You should end up with a cylinder, which you need to place on a tray and light it with a lighter.
4. The bag will begin to burn and shrink in size, and after a while it will fly into the air!
5. Now that you know how to send a tea bag flying, try sending three tea bags flying at once!

What makes tea bags fly?

Science is great!

I wonder how you can make a soap bubble levitate? Let's do an experiment!

To conduct the experiment you will need:
bowl;
warm water;
dry ice;
plastic pipette;
scissors;
cup;
soap solution;
cotton gloves.

Experiment stages:
1. Fill a bowl halfway with warm water.
2. Add soap solution to the glass.
3. Cut off part of the pipette with scissors so that you get a tube convenient for blowing soap bubbles.
4. Touch the tip of the tube to the soap solution and blow into it. The soap bubble is ready!
5. Put on gloves and make sure that the soap bubble does not float in the air on its own, but falls.
6. Add a handful of dry ice inside the bowl. In warm water it will immediately begin to transform into a gaseous state, forming an interesting cloud.
7. Blow a soap bubble into the bowl. The bubble will not sink, but will levitate in a cloud of carbon dioxide - very beautiful.

What makes a soap bubble levitate?

The beads begin to move in amazing ways! What is their secret?
If you place these beads in a bowl and then pull the tip, they will begin to fall out of the container as if by themselves. Interested in trying it? Let's do an experiment!

To conduct the experiment you will need:
various containers;
scotch;
garlands of beads.

Experiment stages:
1. Take a bowl and carefully place the bead garland inside so that it does not get tangled.
2. The tip of the garland should look outside the bowl. For clarity, tie it with tape or tape - this will make it easier for you to find it later.
3. Raise the bowl of beads to chest level, and then pull the tip of the garland.
4. Look, the beads begin to jump out of the bowl as if by themselves. Moreover, you can see how the garland rises from bottom to top, as if breaking the force of gravity.
5. Repeat the experiment, this time take a tall decanter or vase. Also carefully place the garland inside the container, sticking the tip out (you didn’t forget about the electrical tape, right?).
6. As the garland moves from a tall decanter, you can even better observe how the beads rise from bottom to top, which looks simply amazing!
7. Now it's time for another fun experiment with inertial beads. Place the garland on the table in a snake pattern as in the photo.
8. If you pull the tip, the beads begin to fall from the table, repeating the complex pattern of the garland.
9. And if you are lucky enough to have a very long garland and a lot of patience (after all, it takes much longer to lay it out), then you will be able to watch the amazing movement of the beads for a long time.

What makes the beads move in such an interesting way?

It turns out that you can conduct many entertaining experiments with powder to create artificial snow. It's time to explore it properly. Let's do an experiment!

To conduct the experiment you will need:
. powder for creating artificial snow;
. cups;
. narrow glass;
. spoon;
. warm water.

Stages of the experiment:
1. Pour a few spoons of powder into a glass to create artificial snow.
2. Pour warm water into the second glass.
3. Quickly pour a glass of water into a glass of powder.
4. After a while, you will see how the powder absorbs water and begins to turn into artificial snow. At the same time, it will increase significantly in volume.
5. Now do a similar experiment with a narrow glass. Also pour a few spoons of powder inside.
6. Add warm water to a glass and watch how so much artificial snow appears from a small glass.
7. It’s also very interesting to make snow right in your hands. Place a small amount of powder into your palms and then ask your friend to pour warm water directly into your palms.
8. Warm and pleasant to the touch snow appears in your palms as if by magic. Great!
9. Now it’s time to make a snowball from artificial snow. Pour a small amount of water into a pile of artificial snow.
10. By adding water it forms a snowball! It's just a pity that he's so fragile.

What will happen to artificial snow after some time?
3. Add inside the carafe vegetable oil- small colored water bubbles will begin to rise.
4. Wait until colored water will be at the bottom and the oil at the top.
5. Now it’s time to add the effervescent tablets inside.
6. As soon as the effervescent tablets reach the water, they will begin to dissolve, releasing gas, and colored bubbles will begin to move.
7. Place the decanter on top of the flashlight and turn off the light - it’s very beautiful to watch the movement of illuminated colored figures.
8. Now do a similar experiment, but this time take a tall glass and a different dye. For beauty, illuminate the container with a flashlight from above.
9. Use a tall glass or other shaped vessel.
You can watch the movement of the bubbles for a very long time - it’s so beautiful!

What causes colored bubbles to move?

Science is great!

It turns out that tablets can be used not only for treatment. I wonder if it is possible to make real chemical snakes from calcium gluconate tablets? Let's do an experiment!

To conduct the experiment you will need:
. dry fuel;
. fireproof stand;
. calcium gluconate tablets;
. lighter.

Stages of the experiment:
1. Place a tablet of dry fuel on top of the fireproof stand, and place four tablets of calcium gluconate on top of the tablet.
2. Using a lighter, light a tablet of dry fuel.
3. After some time, gray snakes will begin to “hatch” from the tablets.
4. Snakes are constantly increasing in size. Who would have thought that such small tablets could form such long snakes?
5. At some point, the snakes may merge into one giant snake.

Does the number of tablets affect the size and number of snakes?
2. Fill the flask one third full with hydrogen peroxide.
3. Add liquid soap inside the flask and mix the contents thoroughly.
4. Add a small amount of liquid dye inside and mix well.
5. Spread the oilcloth and place the flask with the solution on top of it.
6. Add a spoonful of potassium iodide inside the flask.
7. A large amount of colored foam will rush upward from the flask!
8. Pay attention, there is more and more foam!

Why do you think the foam has a yellowish tint?

We bring to your attention 10 amazing magic experiments, or science shows, that you can do with your own hands at home.
Whether it's your child's birthday party, the weekend or the holidays, have a good time and become the center of attention of many eyes! 🙂

An experienced organizer of scientific shows helped us in preparing this post - Professor Nicolas. He explained the principles that are inherent in this or that focus.

1 - Lava lamp

1. Surely many of you have seen a lamp with a liquid inside that imitates hot lava. Looks magical.

2. B sunflower oil water is poured and food coloring (red or blue) is added.

3. After this, add effervescent aspirin to the vessel and observe an amazing effect.

4. During the reaction, the colored water rises and falls through the oil without mixing with it. And if you turn off the light and turn on the flashlight, the “real magic” will begin.

: “Water and oil have different densities, and they also have the property of not mixing, no matter how much we shake the bottle. When we add effervescent tablets inside the bottle, they dissolve in water and begin to release carbon dioxide and set the liquid in motion.”

Do you want to put on a real science show? More experiments can be found in the book.

2 - Soda experience

5. Surely there are several cans of soda at home or in a nearby store for the holiday. Before you drink them, ask the kids a question: “What happens if you immerse soda cans in water?”
Will they drown? Will they float? Depends on the soda.
Invite the children to guess in advance what will happen to a particular jar and conduct an experiment.

6. Take the jars and carefully lower them into the water.

7. It turns out that despite the same volume, they have different weight. This is why some banks sink and others don't.

Professor Nicolas's comment: “All our cans have the same volume, but the mass of each can is different, which means that the density is different. What is density? This is the mass divided by the volume. Since the volume of all cans is the same, the density will be higher for the one whose mass is greater.
Whether a jar will float or sink in a container depends on the ratio of its density to the density of water. If the density of the jar is less, then it will be on the surface, otherwise the jar will sink to the bottom.
But what makes a can of regular cola denser (heavier) than a can of diet drink?
It's all about the sugar! Unlike regular cola, where granulated sugar is used as a sweetener, a special sweetener is added to diet cola, which weighs much less. So how much sugar is in a regular can of soda? The difference in mass between regular soda and its diet counterpart will give us the answer!”

3 - Paper cover

Ask those present: “What happens if you turn a glass of water over?” Of course it will pour out! What if you press the paper against the glass and turn it over? Will the paper fall and water will still spill on the floor? Let's check it out.

10. Carefully cut out the paper.

11. Place on top of the glass.

12. And carefully turn the glass over. The paper stuck to the glass as if magnetized, and the water did not spill out. Miracles!

Professor Nicolas's comment: “Although this is not so obvious, in fact we are in a real ocean, only in this ocean there is not water, but air, which presses on all objects, including you and me, we are just so used to it to this pressure that we don’t notice it at all. When we cover a glass of water with a piece of paper and turn it over, water presses on the sheet on one side, and air on the other side (from the very bottom)! The air pressure turned out to be greater than the water pressure in the glass, so the leaf does not fall.”

4 - Soap Volcano

How to make a small volcano erupt at home?

14. You will need baking soda, vinegar, some cleaning chemicals for dishes and cardboard.

16. Dilute vinegar in water, add washing liquid and tint everything with iodine.

17. We wrap everything in dark cardboard - this will be the “body” of the volcano. A pinch of soda falls into the glass and the volcano begins to erupt.

Professor Nicolas's comment: “As a result of the interaction of vinegar with soda, a real chemical reaction with the release of carbon dioxide. And liquid soap and dye, interacting with carbon dioxide, form colored soap foam - and that’s the eruption.”

5 - Spark plug pump

Can a candle change the laws of gravity and lift water up?

19. Place the candle on the saucer and light it.

20. Pour the colored water onto a saucer.

21. Cover the candle with a glass. After some time, the water will be drawn inside the glass, contrary to the laws of gravity.

Professor Nicolas's comment: “What does the pump do? Changes the pressure: increases (then water or air begins to “escape”) or, conversely, decreases (then gas or liquid begins to “arrive”). When we covered the burning candle with a glass, the candle went out, the air inside the glass cooled, and therefore the pressure decreased, so the water from the bowl began to be sucked in.”

Games and experiments with water and fire are in the book "Professor Nicolas' Experiments".

6 - Water in a sieve

We continue to study magical properties water and surrounding objects. Ask someone present to pull the bandage and pour water through it. As we can see, it passes through the holes in the bandage without any difficulty.
Bet with those around you that you can make sure that water does not pass through the bandage without any additional techniques.

22. Cut a piece of bandage.

23. Wrap a bandage around a glass or champagne flute.

24. Turn the glass over - the water doesn’t spill out!

Professor Nicolas's comment: “Thanks to this property of water, surface tension, water molecules want to be together all the time and are not so easy to separate (they are such wonderful girlfriends!). And if the size of the holes is small (as in our case), then the film does not tear even under the weight of water!”

7 - Diving bell

And to secure the honorary title of Water Mage and Lord of the Elements for you, promise that you can deliver paper to the bottom of any ocean (or bathtub or even basin) without getting it wet.

25. Have those present write their names on a piece of paper.

26. Fold the piece of paper and put it in the glass so that it rests against its walls and does not slide down. We immerse the leaf in an inverted glass to the bottom of the tank.

27. The paper remains dry - water cannot reach it! After you pull out the leaf, let the audience make sure that it is really dry.

Then I realized that it was time to switch to new level. “The Professor Nicolas Show” had already begun to generate a stable income, and it was difficult for me alone to cope with the large flow of orders. I hired two assistant presenters, trained them and rented an office. Now, four years after the start, the Moscow team has 23 people, including 12 leaders.

During the season (September, January and May) we have 200 shows per month. The presenters conduct 15-17 programs a day. In normal months there is a decline. I take the choice of presenters seriously: 97% of those who come are eliminated at the casting. We do real acting auditions once or twice a year. 100 people came to the last casting; everyone had to show the proposed experiment in an interesting way and get out of it. difficult situation. In the end, five completed the task, but only three were able to work. We immediately decided that we would not hire professional animators, because they had to be retrained.

Money

The starting capital was 100,000 rubles, which I took from the bank four years ago. I spent this money on purchasing chemicals and a machine for making cotton candy, and then I said “no” to loans. I still adhere to this policy: I invest money from free money.

Our services are not cheap: in Moscow, the price for a performance varies from 8,000 to 60,000 rubles, depending on the length of the show. In small cities, the price, as a rule, does not exceed 8,000 rubles.

I am very proud of our Nicolas Peugeot cars, which the presenters ride. We purchased three cars for Moscow - it is more profitable to maintain new cars than to repair used ones and pay taxi drivers. Branded cars bring benefits: new customers often call after seeing Professor Nicolas' flashy cars in traffic. On contextual advertising we spend the most, about 100,000 rubles a month - it brings in 30% of orders. I don't skimp on brand development - This is my long term investment. The result suits me: compared to last year, revenue increased by 50% and amounts to about 25 million rubles. Franchising gives about 25% of turnover, the rest - income from the show, sales of kits for home experiments a la “Young Chemist” and monetization of the YouTube channel through advertising.
