“Tsugi wa key” is romantic story a couple of high school students. Those. in fact, they are 14-15 years old, still children! But this is the point, this is what captivates the series. The heroes are pure, innocent, and for them everything is new. It gets to the point of ridiculousness - during the entire first episode, all the “progress” in their relationship came down to a simple greeting. Because of this slowness, many abandoned this series - they did not yet know that further development would go by leaps and bounds.
And the main thing in this development is that the plot does not stand still and does not suck up any problem. Well, for example, imagine some standard romance. The main characters keep their relationship a secret. If so, then a teammate who is in love with her begins to approach the girl. At this time, the main character passes by. What usually happened in such a situation? That's right, he either gets hysterical and runs away, or starts watching them from a safe distance. Or, according to the script’s law of meanness, something is preventing him from approaching and sorting it out. But here he calmly walked up, took the girl by the hand and calmly said: “This is my girl. It's clear?". To which she did not remain silent and did not run away in hysterics, but calmly took it and confirmed it. But that’s okay, another situation killed me more, when again the guy and the girl had a fight, went home... And literally after 5 minutes of the episode they already apologize to each other and go to peace. “Is this even possible without the drama being stretched out into 5 episodes?” - that's what was running through my head.
Looking back, the three pillars of the series are empathy, sanity, and surprise. Sympathy - it's simple here. The heroes here are not dummies, but living individuals who are interesting to watch and for whom you wish all the best. Although we observe only a short period of their lives, during this time they literally become family. Next is sanity. There is nothing complicated here either - you just believe in what is happening. You believe that this is quite possible in reality - all emotions and actions are completely justified and do not go beyond the age of the characters. What remains is a surprise. The thing is that even with all the more or less predictable “intermediate” events, I did not see the ending throughout the entire series. Well, that is, it is clear that I would like a happy ending, but there might well not be one. Moreover, until the last minutes I was sure that he would not exist! But this is already a bit of a spoiler; I’ll tell you about the ending at the very bottom.
Since I didn’t find any particular flaws in the series (except for the rather faded music and sometimes 3D extras flashing in the background), we can mention one more advantage - mini-scenes after the credits. Basically, they do not carry any semantic load and simply talk about minor characters. They're all pretty funny, it's just a pity that there's so little of it.
Well, I think the main advantage is the ending. Kishi Seiji in the last minutes, with just a couple of picture slides, not only managed to close the story, but also did it very emotionally and logically. I really love timeskips about the lives of characters after the events of the series, and such an extended chronology touched me to the core. I couldn't imagine a better ending. Bravo.
