Specify the commission percentage (for each job individually, from 10% at your discretion), which you are willing to donate to our online gallery for help in selling your paintings. The commission is charged by the store for any type of order upon completion of the transaction from the final sale price(except for conditions for paid accounts). A girl sits down next to me, looks over her shoulder for a long time, smiles, she’s probably driving with a hangover! And then she asked her to draw something and gave her a piece of paper. Well, I drew her some kind of ugly lion and signed it. She was wildly pleased, however, she got off at the next stop. At the time of handing over the painting, the oil had not yet dried and there was a possibility that the paint would smear and the painting would be damaged. And the buyer could get pretty dirty. Five years ago, when I was still studying at Moscow State Academy of Arts, we went to Kalyazin for a week in the open air. The students scattered around the city, wherever they wanted, and drew whatever their heart desired. Mostly they were divided into small groups. There were five girls in my group. We went everywhere together - and so local residents not scary (and they weren’t too friendly) and you won’t get lost. But still, one day I was left alone near an abandoned building; workers were dismantling it. Hammers thundered, bricks and axes flew from the windows. I stood with my back to this house, trying not to pay attention to the noise and people swarming in it. For some time I even managed to remain unnoticed. But as soon as they saw me, there was no time for work. I felt scared. A dozen hefty men, like kites, circled around me, looking at me and furiously discussing something in their incomprehensible language. I was ready to run away, abandoning my sketchbook, my paints, and my unfinished painting. But after about five minutes they began to disperse and crawl back into the house. I began to frantically get ready. Suddenly the largest of the men came out of the dark doorway and began to walk towards me, his hands were behind his back, but he was clearly holding something in them. As he approached me, he smiled wider and wider (obviously from embarrassment). Approaching me closely, he looked with pity at my paint-smeared palms and face, then waved his hands and handed me construction gloves so that I would no longer get dirty. It was very touching. I sold my first painting as a child, in the studio where I was taught how to paint silk. It was round, made in batik style. I don’t remember the details, but it was enough for school breakfast then. But we bought the second one a couple of years ago and immediately at a price I liked. This deal was the first step in turning a boring lawyer into an artist. Initially, I didn’t understand at all how much I wanted to get for the painting, because I myself am not a “business” person. But as soon as my friends from the art world found out that I was now positioning myself as an artist, they immediately gave me a central authority, found people who understood something about art appreciation, consulted with gallerists and asked how much they had already bought from me for (and they bought from me for as much as people themselves offered). At the moment I have had sixteen exhibitions, I think I am known to some extent, but this is not the success, but the fact that maybe no one knows, but if they saw it, they would fall in love with the works. I started selling my paintings almost as soon as I realized that I would be an artist, it was at the age of sixteen at the Student Art Fair, where I got in by submitting an application on the Internet, a year later I won a trip to Miami in their competition. Then she sold paintings at exhibitions in which she participated. I remember how happy I was when they bought one work in Cologne. Now I sell some of my paintings on OilyOil and copies on Art Brut. Sometimes people buy or order paintings from me personally. I sold my first painting at the SAF fair. It was bought by an art history teacher from France. It was A5 size, with a watercolor of a girl with one eye. I didn’t know at all how much anything should cost, I knew that I wanted to eat, but the sandwich cost 200 rubles, well, I sold it for 200. A year later, when I participated in the Blooom exhibition in Cologne, the appraiser gave similar work from the same series 600 euros. I then realized that apparently I really wanted to eat.

“I’m still at the beginning of my journey, two things are obvious to me now. First, you need to work hard, not be lazy and not drive yourself into depression and creative paralysis. The second necessary component of success is communication with people. I’m an introvert and it’s not always easy for me to cope with this, but, in any case, there’s nowhere in life without it, and I’m learning. Starting to sell paintings is not so difficult; now there are many festivals, markets or online galleries. It’s more difficult to make sales stable so that you can count on it as a monthly source of income. The first painting I managed to sell was commissioned. The customer wanted work on canvas, and then I saved on materials and never painted on real canvas. And so I thought: “ Stretched Canvas on a stretcher - this is for the bourgeoisie, I’ll do everything myself.” I bought a piece of canvas, a stretcher, sizing, primer, a stapler (all together, of course, it was more expensive than the prepared canvas). Well, it began: with difficulty, I stretched the canvas as best I could, then sizing, drying, priming... In the end it turned out quite crooked, the stretcher was skewed, and the painting became in the shape of a parallelogram. But the picture was accepted; it depicted some cosmic flowers, even quite pretty ones. Then I earned five thousand rubles.

The most meaningful things always happen inside, and it’s hard to talk about. There are a lot of little stories happening to me right now. And I don’t even know which ones are important yet. Rain, fear, summer, friends, cherry pies, war. This is all, in fact, the most important thing; what grows inside me is what I then try to draw.

I’m freelancing now, and in this mode, it’s true that I can draw regularly, but the work is sometimes empty, sometimes full. It’s not always possible to earn enough and sometimes you want to get an office job for greater financial stability. The price consists of several factors: materials, format, time spent. I have never been able to calculate accurately, so now I am rather based on the final price for which I can sell this work. It's stupid to set a price too high and wait for something. I work quite quickly and now the prices for my work range from 5,000 to 40,000 rubles. If stable sales become established, I will increase them little by little. Sometimes I sell small works even cheaper. It’s better than storing everything, stuffing it on shelves, and I’m glad that almost anyone can afford to buy a picture from me.”

I was sitting and drawing, he came to visit, he liked it and bought it. I don't think you have to sacrifice for art. “The most important thing is to become an artist who is honest with himself. For now I am concerned about this very issue. The world is teeming with wonderful amateurism. And I, of course, am part of it, in every possible way looking for ways to retreat, towards something significant, better quality, and, as a result, sincere. Contrary to popular belief, selling paintings is important factor grades and a major transition from amateur to professional. My first painting was bought by designer Alexander Arutyunov at one of the exhibitions this year. It was a very personal painting that was bought, I think, for very personal reasons. Daring hooligan antics consisted of demonstrating my early works in the assembly halls of American nursing homes. Where, talking about the picture with the hourglass, about lost time, he brought elderly American women to tears. The pricing of my work consists of a pinch of honesty, a drop of a smile, a handful of passion and a dollop of vanity. Well, seriously, there are man-hours, and there are soul-hours.
