Who is the architect?

Design and construction
The Guggenheim Museum was designed by architect Frank Gehry. The lighting was designed by L'Observatory International. Surrounded on three sides by the Persian Gulf, the site also acts as a man-made breakwater that protects northern beaches islands. Gehry noted that "the site itself, practically on or near water on all sides, the desert landscape overlooking the sea and the quality of light of the site suggested some directions."
The museum is planned, at 320,000 square feet (30,000 m2), to be the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation's largest facility. In 2011, the museum began construction on a peninsula at the northwestern tip of Saadiyat Island adjacent to Abu Dhabi, but after some work on the foundation, construction was suspended that year. The completion date was first pushed back from 2011 to 2013, then to 2015 after the emirate canceled contracts with specific suppliers, and again to 2017 "amid more difficult economic times". Human rights disputes
More than 130 international artists have called for a boycott of the new Guggenheim Museum (as well as the Louvre Abu Dhabi), citing reports since 2009 of abuses by foreign construction workers on Saadiyat Island, including arbitrary detention wages, unsafe working conditions and breakdowns, the company will pay or reimburse the steep hiring fees charged by the employee. According to Architectural Record Abu Dhabi has comprehensive labor laws to protect workers, but they are not knowingly or coerced. In 2010, the Guggenheim Foundation posted on its website a joint statement with the TDIC recognizing the following workers' rights issues, among others: worker health and safety; their access to their passports and other documents that employers had to ensure they remained employed; using a general contractor that agrees to comply with labor laws; maintaining an independent site monitor; and ending with a system that was mainly used in the Gulf region requiring workers to reimburse hiring fees.
In December 2013, observer reported that conditions for workers at the Louvre and New York University construction sites amounted to Saadiyat up to " modern slavery" In April 2014, the director of the Guggenheim, Richard Armstrong, said that he believed that the living conditions of workers in the Louvre project were now good and that "far fewer" of them had their passports confiscated. He noted that the main issue, then the rest, was the fees levied on the recruitment of workers by the agents who recruit them. Asked if Guggenheim would refuse to proceed with construction if these issues were not resolved, he replied: "We believe there will be progress."
In September 2014, architect Guggenheim Gehry noted that working with Abu Dhabi officials to implement legislation to improve working conditions on museum grounds is a "moral responsibility."
